This game caught my eye after I played Most Wanted On the psp so i had to grab this copy i was late grabbing it almost a year later. but i still bought it. A Must get if your a fan of Burnout as this game is made by the same makers Criterion Games.

What's great about it: Decent game, graphics
What's not so great: no spit screen, really hard
I am not a huge racing fan but enjoy one once and awhile. I decided on this over Gran Turismo 5 because I liked the cops chasing part/running from the cops. I am not that good though so it is kinda tough which is why I put difficulty at 5 - excellent. More I meant that it was a tough game to win races. Unfortunately it doesnt have spit screen which makes no sense to me. That would be so much fun to chase your friends/vice versa. I wish it was just a little bit more like Burnout Paradise... with the interactive free roam instead of just driving around bored to death...
I would recommend this to a friend ONLY if you are an avid racing fan... or if you love cop chases

What's great about it: The crashes, the weapons, picture mode

I love this game! It's so much fun! I play it all the time. The cars are fast, the weapons are awesome, and the crashes are epic. Career mode is fun because you can be the cop or racer. They have add-ons (you have to buy them) that have more cars and races. The games picture mode is great too because your car doesn't have to be in the shot.
If you are looking for a good racing game, then look no further then Hot Pursuit.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Not as good as the other Need for Speed but fun. The customation isnt very good but graphics are awesome, its fun, and the difficulty is challenging.

What's great about it: Very fun to play

I want to start off by saying this is a very fun driving game. I've have really been enjoying playing it in the evenings to unwind.
I think some serious gamers might find the game a little simplistic and lacking in customization. So far the only car customization I've discovered is changing the car colors, but that's not an option as law enforcement. However I like the simplicity of it.
You can choose to be a "speeder" or police. You can work on both "careers" at the same time by selecting the appropriate race. I feel like Mad Max when playing the police.
I do wish the game had a playback feature.
I haven't tried any of the online features aside from purchasing the Super Sports expansion pack.
My biggest complaint is the game is a single player game. The only way to play with more than 1 person is online.
I'm very glad I purchased Need for Speed Hot Pursuit.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Santa gave this to my 11 year old son...and he loves it! Not disappointed whatsoever. The only thing I think he would like more is if you could customize more and/or even create your own car (maybe you can but he just hasn't unlocked that feature yet).

What's great about it: Sense of Speed, Graphics, Number of Cars
What's not so great: Crash animations, Camera issues
NFS rescued by EA from the ashes and turned into a Burnout clone. Fans of the game Burnout will recognize the game play mechanics right out of the gate. The game does a great job with it's graphics and the sense of speed during game play. It's cut and dry Cops and Robbers NFS fun with a minor drawback. Smashing into roadblocks are handled the Burnout way and not the NFS way. Causing a Crash scene to play where in NFS it allows you to plow into and through the roadblocks. It's these short almost cut scenes / animations that are the downfall of this game. Wrecking cops or other racers cause one to play and a lot of the times the game puts you in the middle of a turn when the camera spins back towards the race. Fun at first but repetitive throughout the game it gets pretty old. The saving grace for this game is the sheer number of cars you get to drive. 5 to 6 different Lambo's, Bugati's, CCX-R's....we're talking the fasted cars ever made not honda civic's. It doesn't take you long to earn new cars and fast cars for that matter. Glad to see the Franchise back and in capable hands, they just need to tweak it a bit and add some polish to it.

What's not so great: Not a driving sim, expected though.
This is a fun game. Graphics are outstanding. Don't expect a real life sim like Gran Turimo. If you want a driving game thats fun to play with good sound and great looking cars, this is it. Wide range of cars to unlock. I don't know why they put a customization grade in the rating scale. Can't customize one thing. Other than that its fun to play.

I got this game like all the other Need For Speed games. I love them. This one is no exception. Graphics are really clear, gameplay is intense, and the sound and feel of the cars is perfect. Only problems I have with the game is that you can not customize the cars, and there is no manual shifting. Other than those two factors its the best Need For Speed I've played yet. I would definitely reccomend it.

What's great about it: It's simply fun!
What's not so great: Long reload if resartign an event.
I was bitterly dissapointed with GT5, so picked up this after reading good things. Unlike GT5, this is FUN and you actually have competition to beat. Wrecking other cars never gets old.
Some events are eady to win, others are more difficult. The cars sound great, unlike GT5's vacuum cleaners. Drifts and oversteer are easy to control. Yes it is more arcadish than GT5, but who cares - I'm enjoying it. Let's face it, no console racer is realistic anyways after you play a proper PC sim with a wheel.
My only dislike is if you restart an event, it reoads the entire event and you have to wait more than you should. What is the point of that?
Bottomline, this is a fun racer with a great car selection that you can play for just 20 minutes or 5 hours.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I was so excited to get this game. My family (Husband, myself, and 3 kids) had played NFS HP2 on the PS2 until the game was worn out and wouldn't load anymore. It was a blast. So when we saw that this game was coming out we were very excited. We purchased the game shortly before Christmas, rushed home and loaded it up. Imagine my surprise when I saw that there was no quick race option, nor could you race against another player on the same console. Nope, it is all dedicated to a single player career mode, or playing against other players online. Which is fine if you have the money to purchase a second PS3 and NFS HP game for the same household.
Overall, the gameplay is great. Car selection is wonderful. Graphics are killer. I am fine with the lack of vehicle customization (such as found in NFS Underground games). I am glad that there is not really a free roam mode to find all of the races. They are found by a map. You can enter a free roam to just drive around to get the lay of the land. But I was really disliking the free world aspect of the recent NFS games. So, to wrap it up. Good game overall, but very disappointed and mystified on why the creators would remove such an integral piece of the game. Not everyone wants to spend all of their time online to find "friends" just to race against someone. Hopefully, they will release a patch or something that will integrate that part of the game back in.

What's not so great: No simulation style. Only arcade.
This is a fun game to play when you are bored and want to play some arcade style racing. It's no GT5 though, and if you don't like racing simulation games like GT5, you will probably really like this. Lots of different races, cars you can buy or earn. Overall, they did a great job with the game. It does live up to it's older version well.
