We replaced a 8 year old Dyson with this one. Great upgrade. The wand is better, emptying the tank is better, bare floor suction is better. We are very happy with this model. Our old Dyson is now the "upstairs" vac and the new one is downstairs. Hope this one goes 8 plus years.

What's great about it: It really sucks up the dirt better than anything I've had
What's not so great: emptying it, must be done outside or in garage, dirt gets all over
Love this vacuum for both carpeting and solid surface floors. Works great on all floors. Great at getting up dog hair and dirt we never knew we had. Sucks up pollen and allergens as well. Can't say enough good about this machine and it was a great value for the price. Dust and dirt does tend to fly when emptying it so we empty it outside or in the garage.

I probably spend too much research before buying, everyone said how great Dyson is so broke down and got the dc33 on sale for $299, what a mistake, luckily bestbuy returns no questions asked. Summary, used shark for last 3 years very happy, tried Dyson, after sweeping carpet with Dyson and filling half cannister, went back over with shark and pulled 3 canisters of dog and cat fur.....really? Conclusion, don't waste money on hype of Dyson!

I bought my Mother one of these about 4 years ago and works today like it did the day I took it out of the box. Easy to use..no bags to buy or deal with. The plastic canister comes off in a jiffy and empties easily. Just bought the same vacuum for myself and I love it. Dyson puts out a wonderful product.

I concur with the other rave reviews for this machine. After much research, I'm so glad I bought this quality vacuum over the cheaper ones found at discount retailers. It was between this Dyson model and the latest one with the ball for me, and I highly recommend visiting a store to compare them for yourself. I'm in pretty decent shape, and I found the ball to be a bit rough on the wrist.

I like everthing this vacuum does except the noisy pitch it did when I first started using it. It did go away overtime but other then that it works freakin awesome!!

All I can say is over-rated. Save your money. The first use proved nothing special on the suction. My old Oreck works just as well. The second use proved that the wand is too long to be useful...very hard to handle. The third use, the belt broke...needless to say I returned the unit. I found a shark at half the price, 1/3 less weight and more features.

Nice vacuum yet makes terrible noise when beater bar is caught on something or you are vacuuming against the grain of certain carpets. They tell me that this is normal.To bad because its not normal sounding at all and I think that there is a slight problem with the vacuum yet they are telling me there isnt.??? its to bad we own another Dyson and have NO problems at all with it..

I had no idea what my old vacuum was not picking up until I used this one. It does an amazing job and is very easy to empty and clean. I find it difficult to take apart the hoses to use extension bar and tubing seems to be low quality rubber instead of a harder strudy plastic. Worried hose will rip or tear easily.

After using it for the first time, it pulled up all sorts of carpet muck that the previous vacuum (Bissell) was missing. It's also nice to go from carpet to hard floor without having to adjust for height.
Easy to use. Fuss-free.

A lot of money for a vacuum but seems to work really well. My wife has wanted one for years so decided to give it a go. Suction on the attachments is great. Handling and moving it around is easy also.

Let me start off by saying I love my Dyson. It works wonders. The tools I believe are very thoughtfully designed. I didn't think this at first. Everything was awkward. Once I read the manual and learned how to use all the features such as the wand and tools, the design and use for things made sense. Now I use every tool with ease. You just have to get used to it. The price still makes me uneasy considering I could have spent less for comparable features, but I chose to spend the extra money after looking at the design and construction of other similar vacuums. Not to mention it comes with a 5 year warranty. All the vacuums nowadays have tons of plastic pieces and other easily breakable parts. This vacuum is no exception. I see lots of plastic and lots of pieces that could potentially break but it has the warranty and it looked better than the other choices. I am not going to spend $1,000 for a Kirby, and Dyson seems like the next best thing. So I bought one. I don't regret it either. I love it. I have had no problems like some of the reviewers. It works better than any vacuum I have ever had and that's why it deserves 5 stars overall.

I wasn't going to review this vacuum but felt compelled to after scanning through some of the negative comments I saw on the Best Buy website. To start, please disregard anyone that rates it at one star. They tend to be the people that would also complain about free money. Second, look at the number of reviews that rave about the unit, but still only give it 4 out of 5 stars. That is also confusing. Think of those people as simply non-committal and go ahead and lump them into the 5 star crowd. At the time that I'm reviewing, that leaves 4 people who give it 3 stars. Of these 3 reviews, they sounded like they had a hard time maneuvering, couldn't get an upright to vacuum under a bed, or preferred a retractable cord as more critical than...well vacuuming itself.
So when you sort through the reviews this way, you start to see a more clear picture on this vacuum. It works as advertised, and does the mundane task of sucking up dust and dirt really well. It is our second Dyson, and we really didn't consider any other brand when shopping. We have a large long hair dog, and two cats and the machine cleans up all the hair on the tile floors, the rugs, and the carpets. It is amazing to see how much dust and dirt can be pulled up every other day.
Don't let the negative reviews make you skeptic. Go with the vast majority - including most of those 4 star reviews- and know you're getting a great machine. If it is a little difficult to maneuver, understand you fall in the bottom percentage of the population and get a gym membership JUST so you can vacuum better. This machine is better than something you probably CAN maneuver.
Also, a common complaint was that the hose and handle are one piece and you have the stand back to use the wand. If this is the case, the user hasn't read the manual or didn't notice you could detach the hose from the wand, and attach the accessories right to the hose. Problem solved and takes care of those complaints in the negative reviews.
A couple of things for DC07 owners. The attachments are not interchangeable, and the wand is plastic instead of aluminum.
So, if you're in need of an excellent vacuum, and you don't fit into the 1 star part of the population that complains about a sunset being too beautiful, you'll really enjoy this vacuum. Like most of us, you will probably not even shop another brand when it comes time to get a new one.

What's not so great: The telescoping tool is a little weird to use, the price is pretty high but the build quality overrides the price
This vacuum does wonders. Tried the "Dyson Challenge" by vacuuming the house before using this one and it brings up everything that the other one was missing. Be aware that this vacuum can bring up carpet fibers. So this is to be expected when first using the vacuum. Also be aware when changing the setting from hard floors to carpet. I tried this and it made a loud grinding noise. So I found that if I just turn off the vacuum when switching settings that this prevents the grinding from happening. Also the waste canister seems to fill up quite frequently so just be sure to empty it after every use. I love my Dyson and will never turn back.
I got this on sale around Christmas time for $299.99 and it was the best purchase all holiday season!
