What's great about it: Sound quality, price
What's not so great: Nothing
I have been slowly replacing aging pieces of my home theater and several weeks ago replaced my old yamaha center speaker with a Pioneer SP-C21 center speaker. While in the store I listened to the SP-F55's and decided to save my pennies and would purchase them when I had the money. I was back in the other day and saw they were on sale and convinced my wife to let me by them.
All I can say is WOW for the price these speakers sound great. They handled action movies, video games, and classic rock without a problem.

What's great about it: everything!
What's not so great: maybe sound better with horn tweeters instead of soft dome
i recently decided to upgrade my home theater setup, went from a samsung receiver/decoder and and infinity tss-1100 speaker setup. the infinity speakers sound amazing and the 350 watt sub was a perfect match. however, i wanted more sound, i chose to step to the pioneer vsx-1021-k rated at max output of 130/channel. at first i only wanted to replace the 2 front l/r speakers but decided to replace the front and rear with these ones. after i got them home and hooked them up i was blown away at the amount of clarity that came through with these speakers at high output. i wasnt looking to spend 50k on a home theater setup and was looking for something that sounded good for the money. i discovered that, although the price was suspicious, these speakers are an incredible buy! they sound amazing, i recently went back and bought another pair(6 total now) and am running them for all 6 surround and kept my infinity center channel and subwoofer. the aesthetics of these speakers are well fitting and would match and ensemble in my opinion, not too big to be over bearing and not so small they appear lacking something, they fit just right.
Now, a little about the actual sound. i have owned klipsch and marantz so i get what good sound is about here. these speakers seem to be lacking a little on the high end with the soft dome tweets but by no means disappoint. the sound shaping of the vsx receiver seems fairly robust for its class but yet the speakers still lack a bit of "crispness" they still sound outstanding but if i was to compare with others' that would be the only downfall. of course, had i not known any better i would be stunned by the clarity i still got from them. the real capability seems to come out at high volume. it almost seems that these speakers would be pushing there potential at some point but i figured, what the heck, matched up power wise i had nothing to lose so i cranked it up. ahhhh, that moment when the sound engulfs you and moves you inside. i was very impressed that these speakers would get as loud as they do (REALLY REALLY LOUD) that's not a type-o. anyway, if you are looking for a great speaker and great quality, this is it. Pioneer seems to have done it again as a legend in the home/car audio industry. Thanks

Just wanted to take a moment and provide some feedback on this speaker. Purchased a pair a couple of days ago for my bedroom system and have had a chance to listen to them for some 5 hours.
The speakers were well boxed, and mounting the bases to them was easy. To use banana plugs with them, I simply unscrewed the post caps, removed the inner colored plastic plugs, and screwed the caps back on. The binding posts are good quality gold plated posts and my banana plugs snapped right in, nice and solid.
I then calibrated their sound levels to match the rest of the surrounding speakers. Once that was done I was ready to do some listening. While speakers always improve after substantial break-in, I like listening to them right out of the box, with no break-in time allowed for the drivers. I want to hear them at their worst; it tells me volumes about their innate qualities.
I would also encourage you to use material that you are very familiar with when evaluating any speaker. I myself like listening to 5.1 surround SACD and DVD Audio albums, as they are extremely high resolution and easily reveal a speaker’s strengths and weaknesses.
For example, one of the album’s I cued up was Linda Ronstadt’s and Nelson Riddle’s excellent collaborative effort –“What’s New”. Initially released back in 1983, this is a wonderful re-issue on DVD-Audio format for her Platinum selling, Grammy Award winning album. Linda proves herself to be the ideal interpreter of these classic songs, lushly orchestrated by Nelson Riddle.
These Pioneers nailed the album well! I had no problem hearing the delicately plucked strings of the orchestra’s acoustic guitar, something that typically a budget speaker will either smear or miss entirely. This is a well-engineered speaker.
I would describe the overall character of the speakers as neutral, with just a hint of warmth added to the mid-range region. This warmth is what gives the speakers their smooth, enveloping soundstage. The highs were lush and detailed, but never crossed over into the realms of bright or screechy, while the bass presented itself as tight and clean, with no “tuba” like bloat at all.
I would say that I would certainly want to augment these speakers with a good subwoofer if listening to rap or the like.
The speakers present good bass, but the laws of physics can’t be ignored – if you want to move a lot of air (i.e. knock the walls down with bass), you need a larger woofer. I have a 12” subwoofer that does my heavy lifting, and it works well with these Pioneer speakers.
The bottom line is that these are well-engineered speakers that anyone can afford. Are there better speakers? Sure, I own a pair. But I will say that until you start shopping in the $$ 1-2K neighborhood, any sound improvement you could purchase would be very subtle.
Anyone telling you different – “Dude my Polk’s were dramatically, DRAMATICALLY better!” is just kidding themselves. For myself, I like them well enough to have just purchased the matching C21 center channel.

What's great about it: Natural realistic sound, Amazing price!
What's not so great: Made in China (reflected in the price, not the quality)
Given the price of these small towers, it's nearly unbelievable that it could be made, put in a box and shipped to the store. They are natural sounding, non- fatiguing speakers with an attention to detail. Now that being said, I understand that's not what everyone wants. If you're the type who likes to crank the bass and treble up to the max before the music even begins, then this may not be for you. But if you're the type of person that can appreciate what a human voice or instrument actually does sound like, then this will surely get you closer than any other speaker near and above it's price.
The two lower 5.25" speakers are crossed over to only play the bass frequencies. This provides better bass and a more focused mid-range detail coming from the top 5.25" speaker. A clever and impressive design at this price.
It's also worth noting that you shouldn't even think twice about the 6 ohm rating... most of the other speakers I've tested with a multimeter were closer to 4 ohms even though they said 8. It seems like most manufactures will just put an 8 ohm rating on any of their speakers regardless of the nominal value. Pioneer could have, and should have just done the same to avoid confusion. These actually tested closer to 8 ohms than the other brands of speakers I had on hand.

What's great about it: I actually like the styling of the speakers a lot. Good sound quality, value is amazing!
What's not so great: Very inefficient speakers, low sensitivity, need to have a powerful amp for best sound.
I just recently purchased the whole Pioneer Speaker package, bookshelf's, floorstander's, and the center channel. No sub though since I already own one.
It's been about 2 weeks so far since I've had them going, they sound good, not great, just good "above average" sound quality. Coming from Klipsch Speakers, the Quintet SL speaker system to be exact, these Pioneers sound more low key and laid back sorta quiet compared to the Klipsch maybe I've been spoiled by Klipsch's horn loaded tweeters. Obviously the Klipsch have a more brighter sound to them because of their chosen design, all the sounds are in your face which can be harsh sounding to some listeners, which sometimes isn't the best way to listen to certain kinds of music. I enjoy the more neutral sound of the Pioneers, the mid's are great, the floorstanders put out a great amount of bass on my old Denon 3805 AVR. It helps tremendously when you combine all of these speakers with a powerful amp, (I don't even really need the sub now!) because while owning the Klipsch speakers the last 2 years, I have to turn up the volume much more to listen to music and movies than before due to the low sensitivity of the Pioneers. The problem with the floorstanders is the highs are little too quiet for me, I wish they had more depth and forwardness to them. I personally feel the bookshelf's sound better in the high's than the towers do. Now this is coming from a Denon receiver that is rated at 160W per channel at 6 ohms. So my Amp is powerful enough to push these babies to their limits.
You get the best out of these speakers when they are loud! That is when they truly shine. They are great for both movies and music for the price, I mean $300 for all 5 speakers at BB is a tremendous value for the sound quality. I really think Pioneer could easily charge $800 for just the 5 if they wanted to, that's how good they sound. The soundstage is ok, I notice some instruments have weight to them, the mids especially shine when the volume is cranked high up there. The thumping from drums, to the pulling of guitar strings have a weighty thick presence.
For people looking to be blown away by these speakers, will probably have to look elsewhere. While they sound good, I notice I don't here certain details from certain movie soundtracks and especially music like I do from my Klipsch speakers. I wanted speakers that are a little more natural sounding, and these Pioneers sound just that, natural, smooth, not overbearing, very crisp, and like I mentioned before, are very neutral. Also it depends on your amp and how it's set up that really determines the sound output. Just make sure your receiver has enough juice to power these Pioneers to get the best out of them. I would definitely buy the floortanders, but as a package, it's a better value than the towers itself for anyone looking to upgrade their Home Theater System.
I mean my Klipsch cost me around $400 on Amazon at the time, when they were new they retailed for around $1000!! So what Pioneer is offering here, you are getting more sound for your money. The build quality is better than the Klipsch Quintet SL, the lows are strong, and the Pioneers look like they mean business, they sound the part as well.

What's great about it: value
What's not so great: takes some time to setup right
I would definitely recommend these speakers. Did they sound as good as some others? No. Did they sound almost as good for half the price? Definitely. For the price of the next most expensive speakers, I was able to buy a sub too, and really upgrade my system. I had to spend a few days playing with all the settings on my receiver to really maximize the performance of these speakers. If they don't sound great for you right away, read your receiver's manual and test different settings.

What's great about it: nothing
What's not so great: sound
I bought these speakers as part of a Pioneer 5.1 package for about $550, which I see is now on sale directly from Pioneer for $519.
Now let me qualify my statements about these speakers by first saying I am 57 years old so my hearing isn't what it used to be.
After reading lots of reviews on various sites I decided to go with the Pioneer SP-PK51FS 5.1 system which includes these speakers. To make a long story short I was very unimpressed with the sound. No matter how I moved them around the room and/or adjusted the receiver, I felt like they sounded wooden and boxy. Nothing like the sound my old Bose Series 7's produced. Although they have plenty of bass, which sometimes I wish the Bose had more of, they just didn't seem to have the clear, crisp top end that I enjoy. So after 3 or 4 days of trying to convince myself they sounded OK, I went back to my Bose speakers and kept the subwoofer and the 2 bookshelf surround speakers as part of my 5.1 system....much better.

These are a great pair speakers. I've had them for about six months now. They were great out of the box and have gotten better with age. They produce clear, precise sound. And for those with a budget, the bass is so strong a subwoofer is not necessary.
I'm using these with the Pioneer Center Speakers and Sub-woofer and could not be happier.

What's great about it: Sound. Detailed, well balanced, smooth.
What's not so great: It's all good for this price and performance level.
I'd never heard of Andrew Jones, and my purchase of any speakers worth a hundred grand will have to wait on a very large lottery win. So I didn't know how much of the buzz on these Pioneer speakers was marketing hype and spin. I wanted speakers to replace my Wharfedale Diamond 8.2s, which I was using with a NAD amp and finding a bit to bright and punchy for my ears. I love Wharfedales, but these weren't a good match for the room or the equipment. To cut a long story short, I've owned speakers from many reputable manufacturers. I have a pair of Cerwin Vega REs at work, big, chunky, and in that particular environment, quite wonderful. Way too big for the living room, though. Klipsch, JBL, AR, Polk, I've tried them all at one time or another. All I can say, is that the Pioneers sound brilliant in my home setup, and that all of the praise heaped upon them in this and other forums is well deserved. Smooth, detailed, and very easy to listen to. At this price point, and being sold in the stores they are, they may not appeal to the snobs, but believe me, if you like good music and appreciate good sound, you will not be disappointed. All round, these are just stellar speakers, and I'm delighted with them.

What's great about it: The audio quality, subwoofers, and tweeter
What's not so great: The weight. :p
These speakers handle very good on a 200 watt system. Sound very good. The 2 subwoofers don't hit as hard as the mid speaker but when the volume is cranked up, they sound better than a Bose system. They also reproduce a fake virtual effect in a well suited room. But over all they are great for their price.

What's great about it: Price and Quality
What's not so great: Nothing Really

First by no means am I an audiophile but the speakers on flat screen tvs are an absolute joke (I get it they have to be because their so slim). So basically when I set up my system I wanted to stay on a budget but still have the complete surround sound quality. These speakers will definitely do their job for you. These pioneers put out good clear sound that will add to the enjoyment of your home theater.

These speakers are excellent with my home theatre but do a very good job with music also. They have exceptional clarity and very little coloration to the sound. Bass response is much better than I expected. I have dialed my sub woofer way down from it's previous settings. Absolutely the best speaker for the price that I've heard.

What's great about it: Gourmet sound on a fast food budget
What's not so great: Not the deepest soundstage, but still better than most at 5x the price
After reading several reviews in audio magazines, I purchased the
Pioneer SP-BS41-LR Bookshelf speakers from this series. They sounded great so I purchased the Tower SP-FS51-LR model. These are very accurate with good bass extension so I agree that these are one of the best bargins in speakers you can get. The towers have the same super smooth and accurate midrange of the bookshelf model with much improved bass. The top end is good, but I would like just a little more top end air. They present a very clear left to right soundstage, but not tons of depth. For about $200 you get a pair of speakers that make many $1000/pair speaker look bad. These do not need a sub-woofer to sound good bit I ended up getting the center channel speaker and the powered subwoofer to form a complete 5.1 system. This makes a killer home theater system for <$600. You get a system that sounds like you spent $2k. Be sure to break these in for a couple of days before any critical listening. They really open up after the break in period.

What's great about it: Sound quality for price paid!
What's not so great: Not room shaking bass like a 12" sub.
Sound quality is excellent! Replaced much larger speakers. I am very pleased. Just don't expect room shaking bass. I use a powered sub for that anyway. For the price you just can't go wrong. Believe the other reviews! They have to be turned up VERY loud to get any distortion.

I hope that many people read this, cause I truly am confused. I don't understand how best buy can sell these speakers at a PAIR for $205? I am one that has been through many audiophile manic stages. B and W nautilus line, (had the nautilus center channel!) I prefer 2.1 systems for the purity, even for movies by the way. Just the cost for these three speakers was $12,000. I also had a Paradigm signature servo sub which had a 3000 watt internal power source, have you any idea how heavy just the magnet was, WOW. This sub at the time was $5g's. The sound?-----? Heavenly!!!. At the time I wasn't a rotel fan , but I tried a all in one top of the line rotel rather than go component. Nice. Killer receiver. With all that said, I just wanted a set up for my 60 inch led, and I figured i'll try the pioneers. I wasn't sure if I was gonna need a sub, so I figured I'll buy them and listen to them and make that decision after the fact. For the dynamics of my room, a sub with these $205 a pair speakers would be overkill with no loss of any auiophile quality. Truly amazing at $205 a Pair. ????? I will tell you that these speakers perform like $1000 a piece speakers. Really. IT's amazing which is why I am confused why they would charge at least $500 a pair, and they could easily do that. The performance is incredible for the $$$ and the esthetics are even better. It's like the best $205 you'll spend. I'll just say , if the dynamics are right for your room, these speakers are like free at $205, really.
