What's great about it: Thunderous Sound
What's not so great: Nothing
I used my subwoofer for theatre system. I gotta tell ya. The Neighbors Know that I,m watching my movies. That DEEP Rich base just rocks my apartment and everyone else. Sorry folks..Can't enjoy my movies without my SW for action films or Video Games.

What's great about it: Looks, Performance, Price
What's not so great: Can be found for less, "Once you know, you .................."
I used the SW8 to supplement my 40" Vizio Sound bar rather than spring for a new surround system that I didn't want to bother with the trouble of at this time. Great call on my part, and great product by Pioneer. The SW8 made all the difference and for the relatively low price, its like having a whole new and very respectable system (for my current needs). With the frequency control you can blend the SW8 into any current system you are running flawlessly. Tastefully crafted and fairly compact, so it looks great whether you want to hide it or not. This is easily the best pick at this price point and don't be tempted by thinking a larger 10" Sony might be better for a lower price as we should all know and understand by now that Sony's low end products are pure garbage. ~Peace and Chicken Grease!

What's great about it: Looks, ease of use, sounds great.
What's not so great: Could have been free I guess!
After upgrading to an Onkyo TX NR709 receiver I now added my second subwoofer. Wasn't sure how much better it may sound, since it was already pretty great with just one of them. Adding the second one is well worth the price. The base fills the room now and is less directional.
I chose all Pioneer speakers and subwoofers. If the sound from any of the more expensive speakers is better - I can't tell. These are as good as my hearing is capable of discerning.

What's not so great: ummm... nope. can't think of anything!
i bought this subwoofer to replace an old one that had pretty much given up the ghost. i sweat every audio decision i make and i did a lot of research and listened to a lot of subs before choosing this one. it's PERFECT for my system, adding deep, rich bass that i can hear and feel without overwhelming the rest of the music or taking up a ton of space. it sounds awesome with everything from Mystikal to Hank Jr to NIN, and adds a whole new dimension to movies and video games! i like being able to control the frequency range as well as the volume. i like the automatic off & on feature. i like the price! before you spend twice as much on similar or even inferior sound, take this one home and give it a chance... with Best Buy's very liberal return policy, what have you got to lose?

What's great about it: Faithful sound reproduction & price Vs. value.
What's not so great: Absolutely nothing
I purchased this product as I was on a budget, and had spent most of the money on my TV and A/V Receiver. I was surprised to hear how faithfully this unit reproduced even theater level frequencies! Great lows with anything I throw at it. Cinematic sound effects, explosions, music, all sound great with this unit!
Other thoughts: Keep in mind you want to set this unit up properly. It's best advised to set the crossover to MAX, and set volume at 1/2 or 3/4 volume. Also make sure you have your crossover frequencies set properly with your A/V Receiver to hear optimal performance!

I was looking for a well know brand with a solid reputation in home audio equipment. I have had Pioneer products before and always been very satisfied so when I saw this subwoofer advertised at Best Buy I knew it would be a good purchase. The price is very reasonable. Easy to setup and works out of the box with little effort. Highly recommended.

This is my second subwoofer and it easily blew the old one away. I can hear every single note no matter how deep into the bass it is. It rattles the entire house when I turn it up. I've had no problems with it. However, getting all of the setting just right takes a bit of experimentation with the control.

I LOVE this subwoofer. It really sounds great, no vibrations, just a smooth tone and punch. Dont let the cheap price fool you. I put on some dance music and cranked it up and it vibrated the house!

I read the reviews before I purchased this sub. I'm glad I did because I am thrilled with my purchase. I'm a huge fan of Pioneer anyway, but this sub blows away the generic one I replaced. So far even the auto-on/off is working fabulously for me. That was the one issue a few people complained about. I would recommend this to a friend.
I fully expected this to have a single RCA-style jack since the newer receivers only accept this single connection. This sub has a left & right channel but I just used a "Y" splitter and the problem was solved.

Its low bass at low volume is much more noticeable than any other sub that I have owned. It works very good with my Pioneer reciever I bought last year. I now have a complete Pioneer system and it works very good. The sound quality is much better than my Sony that I bought last year and returned.

What's great about it: Quality construction, compact size
What's not so great: Setting adjustment knobs in back would be more accessible if they were in front.
This subwoofer provides a great bass complement for my Vizio VSB200 Sound Bar and is perfect for our small living room. Its compact size enables it to fit neatly inside a cabinet in our entertainment center. Some reviewers have mentioned problems with the auto on/off function. I have had no such problems. One thing to note is that it doesn't shut off immediately when you turn off the sound system, but it does shut off a few minutes after no signal is detected. This may be why some folks thought it wasn't working correctly. I only rated "Value for Price" as "Good" because Best Buy's price is a little high.

I was planning on spending some big bucks for a quality sub for my system. I was told that with this item in a bedroom setting (which in my case it was), would work perfect. The sales person told me that if Im not satisfied to return and get what I really wanted to get. After installing it and playing games and/or watching an action movie, this sub rocks!!!! Small, cheap and rocks big!!!! Thanks!

This Subwoofer puts out alot of power for the price. When I bought mine it was $200 and it is still an awesome value at that price, at $160 like it is as of this review it is an absolute steal. Definitely adds so much to your home theater experience.

If you like bass, get this. It hits harder than my $400 klipsch sub. Don't get me wrong I like my klipsch but I like my less than half the price of a supposedly better model pioneer way better.

I am blown away by this sub. I admit, I wasn't looking to spend a lot of coin on a subwoofer, and after having a HORRIBLE experience at the El Cajon, CA store, I went to the Santee location, where the service and product knowledge of the reps has been consistently superior. Anyways, talked to a guy in the home theater dept., I told him my situation, including a schematic of my room, and this Pioneer unit was his suggestion. I teased him by telling him if it sucks, I was going to come back and complain, and he played along, saying "Ah man, guess I'll never see you again!" Anyways, long story short, I came home, hooked it up, and turned on Saving Private Ryan. EPIC. At a $150-ish price point, you cannot beat it. Period.

What's great about it: Sound rocks, price can't be beat!
What's not so great: auto power on and off doesn't work 100% of the time
I've had my theater system for a few years now and replaced an older subwoofer with this one. I started out thinking price and am so glad I did! The sounds quality is very good...movies, games, sports...the sound rocks!! And the price, you can't beat it! The only issue I'm having is the auto turn on and turn off with my receiver not working all the time, so sometimes I have to manually turn it on...no big deal.
Get this subwoofer!
