What's great about it: Looks great, ease of use, comes with all features a home therater enthusiasts wants
What's not so great: All good
I have had the 4311CI for a month now, and am very satisfied with this audio/video receiver. I had the Pioneer Elite SC-57 before, which I found a great receiver, but the Denon AVR 4311CI even tops the Pioneer. Particularly the GUI that you use to set up your system is so intuitive that you actually never need to read the product manual. The automated sound calibration feature (Audyssey MultEQ XT32) works like a charm and made my 7.1 setup sound awesome. The receiver comes with a lot of features I can’t live without. For example, it is capable to accept the DSD stream over HDMI, which produces the most awesome sound for my SACDs. Then, video conversion (upscaling) works and looks great. Really appreciate the HD-Radio feature, as Austin has plenty of radio stations that broadcast HD-Radio. Only a very few receivers come with an HD-Radio receiver, and this one sounds great. Also like the informative display on the receiver. For example, it shows the input channels and how the receiver outputs them. Last but not least I want to highlight the Internet radio features. It comes with Pandora support (wow!) and you can turn in 1,000s of radio stations from around the world. So cool. Don’t want to miss mentioning that the receiver comes with 2 remote controls, where the main one is excellent. Definitely highly recommend this receiver. It’s worth the money when you utilize all features.

Upgraded from a Deno AVR-4310. New Audyssey MultEQ XT 32 does make a difference. Very happy but it does come at a price.

What's great about it: A million features
What's not so great: Gigantic User Manual, Audyssey MultEQ XT32 room acoustic correction system
Here are my tips on this receiver in layman’s terms. I do not want to just throw tech jargon and confuse people that are not tech savvy.
1. You need a wired (and wireless if you are going to use AirPlay), Ethernet Network connection to really use the features of this product. It would be a waste of money if you do not use the network features. Save your money and buy a non-network model if that is the case!
2. This is a 9.2 Channel system. The 9 (in 9.2) is for number of speakers you can directly connect to the Denon Receiver. The .2 (in 9.2) is for the number of sub-woofers you can connect.
3. Three zones means it can output audio (and possibly video), to three separate areas) in your house.
4. This is my 11.2 Channel secret. I have 13 speakers, two LCD TV’s, a 3d Blu-Ray, a Denon Ipod Dock, a computer and two sub-woofers connected to this receiver!
Zone 1 is my media room (9 speakers plugged directly into the Denon Receiver), and two speakers (Channel 10 & 11), connected through an Insignia Receiver Insignia - 200W 2.0 Channel Stereo Receiver $119.99 at Best Buy, (which acts as a powered amp), and a giant LCD TV.
Zone 2 is my channel 10 & 11 (Front High Left & Front High Right speakers) which are powered by the Insignia Receiver.
Zone 3 is two waterproof speakers on my patio powered by another Insignia - 200W 2.0 Channel Stereo Receiver ($119.99 at Best Buy) & a second LCD TV connected to the Denon Receiver!
5. While using my laptop, I can access the Denon web utility (It is like a fancy, easy to use remote control interface for your receiver), and Watch TV in my living room and listen to the game, while my guests are watching TV and listening to IPOD music through the Denon Ipod Dock on my patio!
6. Do not be afraid to use the Audyssey speaker setup microphone. Make sure all of your speakers are properly connected FIRST. You then place the microphone in three different listening areas and it sends an audible signal to each speaker and adjusts the sound for you.
7. Update your software through your network. It will definitely need it.
The only problem I have is getting rid of my guests. Excuse me; I have to go throw my nephew out.
This product has... Plenty of power for all my needs, Interfaces well with TV, Easy to use controls, Good multi-zone capability, compatible with windows 7, works with windows 7 media player, denon ipod dock asd-11r, works with denon hd radio pandora etc., denon air play, network capability (wired-ethernet), whole home control system compatible (rs-232c), denon web control, photo viewing, 3d

What's great about it: everything
What's not so great: nothing so far
I actually pick up my avr-4311 back in 02/11. Wanted to wait for before posting any review comments. The has Denon satisfied all my requirements as in SACD, 192/24 bit downloads from HD tracks and the other processing formats for home theatre. Sound quality is nice & smooth, also great control.

What's great about it: Sound quality - Remote - pandora - Power just to name a few
What's not so great: Bit costly, but if you are a good consumer - can buy for a bit discounted! Best Buy Rocks ! Especially Fort Lauderdale
Awesome receiver, remote control has been updated and is the best Denon remote control in my opinion, just incredible. Receiver is awesome with Pandora, High Definition Radio just to name a few features. The clarity, sound, power is what you expect when you pay a premium price. Just a solid receiver sure to last till the next major electronic gadget comes out into the market. As for the 3D, yes it's ready and capable. But in my case, 3D isn't for me. I just get dizzy looking at 3D. Blu-Ray movies sounds just out of this world on my 4311. Hope this helps! Ralph D. (Big Man43) Fort Lauderdale

What's great about it: Powerful, versatile, modern, expandable, upgradable, exceptional.
What's not so great: Price and availability.
The 4311ci is the best AVR that you can get from Best Buy. A tremendous AVR that comes with a lot of bells and whistles as well as a hefty price to match. You will find this unit quite versatile with 3 zones, pre-outs, 3D, built-in networking, Custom Installer access, and online updates which translates to: no more leaving your Denon for a month at the "local" service center.
Besides the potential 7.2, 9.2, and 11.2 surround capability and every Dolby/DTS format ever created; the best attribute of the 4311ci is Audyssey's revolutionary XT32 room correction system. Forget the Audyssey EQ or even XT, because XT32 calibrates and balances your subs - that's right. The XT32 is the twin sister to pro audio calibration. The difference is that the XT32 stays home with you. If you add/upgrade speakers, furniture, carpet or whatever; you recalibrate the system yourself in a matter of minutes with the XT32.
Check out the specs. The 4311ci has enough power for a large, dedicated home theater while playing music remotely on the patio. The GUI overlay is a long way from the old b&w text which is a welcome change, but expected for this price.
I am on my first week of ownership, so I am still a bit stoked about the difference it has made in my home theater. Not only is the audio greatly improved, but the Dish looks better than ever - a tribute to the state of the art video processor in this unit (rivals the OPPO QDEO).
At this point, it would be unfair to comment as to whether this AVR's value meets the price tag. I will update this review once I have had more experience with this AVR to help you determine if this kind of coin is justifiable for your budget.
