Works great I love this. More responsive than IR remote. Slide keyboard makes typing searches much faster and easier. This is a must have for every TiVo home.

Keyboard is worth it

What's great about it: Size and having a keyboard instead of scrolling through all the letters trying to find the one you want.
What's not so great: Feels cheap, but that means you have to be careful with it.
I purchased this slide remote after many hours trying to type in the search field on my TiVo Elite. This product is very well worth the price. I was already using two USB ports (the device my cable company gave me with the cable card is plugged into port 1, and my wireless is in port 2), and I wasn't sure what to do because this slide remote uses a bluetooth device that needs an open USB port. I read online, and you can use a USB hub. Luckily I had an older portable USB2 hub I used on my laptop that is self powering (has two USB cables coming off of it which doesn't require me to plug it into the wall because one cable draws power off the TiVo and the other connect the devices to the TiVo). The USB hub works great, and I have three devices hooked up to it, one being the remote. This remote is easy to use and compact. I would highly recommend getting this!!

What's great about it: Easy as it could every really be really
What's not so great: ... having to move the system to install the Bluetooth would be the only thing I guess
Well this remote does everything you expect, just re-run the setup for the tv or what have you selection and it runs just like my old one. The keyboard is a nice feature as when I now use it on my series 3 HD unit I can now type which I did not believe would be an available feature. You had to install a Bluetooth adapter in the USB port for that but that was easy enough.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Keyboard, backlight and responsiveness
What's not so great: Accidentally hitting buttons constantly
PROS: Remote is very responsive compared to the standard remote. Integrated search with the keyboard is amazing, especially now that hulu has been added. The backlight is handy in dark rooms. The bluetooth makes it easier to control since you don't have to directly point the remote at the tivo.
CONS: The bluetooth is also a con - you will constantly thumbs up and thumbs down things and hit many other buttons by accident, since you don't have to point the remote directly at the tivo. A little pricey.
Summary: This remote let's you take advantage of one of tivo's nicest features - the integrated search - and that makes this a great addition to a tivo. BUT, make sure if you are watching tv you put the remote in a place where no one can touch it because (especially if you have pets) one day you might find that your favorite show mysteriously has three thumbs down.

What's great about it: qwerty, bluetooth
There are two things that make this remote essential. First the qwerty keyboard makes using Netflix, Pandora, etc. so much easier. Second, the bluetooth capability is more useful than I thought it would be and now I cant live without it. We lost our slide remote for a couple of days (hiding in the couch cushions) and went back to the old remote in the meantime. Both my wife and I commented that we immediately noticed that we had forgotten how inconvenient it was to have to point the remote at the entertainment center. Sounds small, but when you are in the kitchen making dinner while your kids are watching a show in the living room and a commercial comes on, you quickly realize the value of bluetooth.

What's great about it: Keyboard is much easier to type on
What's not so great: Blue Tooth is response is very slow
I loved the idea of having a keyboard and it does make searching on TiVo a lot easier. The problem is with the BlueTooth. This remote does not work like the previous remotes. It does have IR capability but that is only for commands for additional equipment like TVs or sound systems. The actual TiVo only works via the Blue Tooth capabilities and it is very slow and much less responsive than the previous IR TiVo remotes.
For those people that are used to clicking through their remotes quickly when accessing your TiVo, you will probably be disappointed. Sometimes I have to push the buttons 2-3 times before it responds. This is a particular problem when fast forwarding through commercials. If you are used to FF through commercials and stopping right at return to the show, you will not like this remote. It just doesn't respond like the old ones.
I have rerouted the BlueTooth receiver and used the extension cable to try to get better reception but no luck I am only about 7 feet away from a direct line of sight to the receiver and it still responds exactly the same.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: makes typing your search entries super easy
this remote is a must have for your tivo. it makes searching for programs and movies 200% easier and faster. just plug a usb dongle in the back of your TIVO and away you go. Typing your search entries on a qwerty keyboard are so much easier than hunting and pecking with a standard remote.

Functionality is fine when it works. Buy geek squad protection on it if you get it. I'm going in tomorrow to have it replaced for the third time. Every time it has just straight died. Unresponsive to new batteries even. Use the iPod or iPad app before buying this or even buy a Logitech

this TIVO REMOTE does not work on all TV's. I have a 2 year old Samsung and the qwerty board is not compatable.

What's great about it: Easy setup & works exactly as promised.
What's not so great: It does use up batteries faster then a regular remote control.
All I had to do was plug in the Bluetooth adapter into the the USB port on the back of my TiVo & I was good to go. There was no long setup process or any problems at all. The item performs exactly as it should.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: size, glow, ease of use
What's not so great: lack of "extra" programmable buttons
Short of a Logitech that can support the Thumbs +/-, this is it. The one thing I wish for is that it had more buttons that could be programmed as "extras". Short of that, this is pretty nice. The same as glow, but the keyboard is good. More use of Keyboard will come as this becomes standard. For the reviewer that mentioned it using the USB port, what else do you need USB for? Do you imagine a USB might work?

I love how compact this remote is compared to the standard TiVo remote. I also love using the keyboard for searching for showes, etc. It makes the searck 10 times faster than the standard remote

Bluetooth remotes are the way to go. IR remotes are a thing of the past. If you plan to distribute your TiVo to more than one room, then this remote is a godsend. I watch my TiVo from two different rooms and love this remote. I often forget the TiVo is in another room.
The backlit, bluetooth keyboard can be laggy at times, but not worth knocking a full star off of this excellent device. You Tube is so much better on the big screen and so much easier to search with this remote.
The price should be under $50, however. TiVo overprices their stuff.

What's great about it: Built in keyboard...sort of.
What's not so great: Everything else.
If the remote hadn't been free with the TiVo I would have returned it. I thought it would be nice to have the keyboard but most places don't even accept input from it and when you find one that does it's very hit or miss using it. You hit a key and it doesn't respond. Hit another key and it does that key several times. I don't use this remote at all and would highly recommend you avoid it.

What's great about it: KEYBOARD !!!
What's not so great: Keyboard functions are Blue Tooth only and backlight dims too quickly
It is nice to be able to use a keyboard for text input instead of the seek and click method using the on screen letter grid. Big time saver. The back light is great too, however, I wish the buttons would stay lit longer. When activated, the back light only stays on for about 7 seconds if no key is depressed (or after the last key is pressed). I have found that the back light occasionally turns off right before I am ready to start pressing buttons. For those of us with less than perfect vision, it takes a few seconds to focus on the small letters and numbers before we are ready to start typing away. A 15 second delay would be better, especially since the back light is not that bright and not very distracting anyway. Even better would have been a motion or tilt sensor that turns the back light on when you pick it up in the dark and then goes off after it senses no motion for 15 seconds. Also since the keyboard functions are blue tooth only, it is not possible to use a universal IR remote (I have a Pronto TSU7000 - which has a pick up sensor BTW) to learn and transmit IR signals for the keyboard functions. Because of that, I will never be able to have just ONE single remote for everything.
