What's great about it: programming features, LCD screen quality
What's not so great: blown highlights
Load with features and a very nice display (very good viewing angles) has made this a better purchase than I had originally anticipated.
I keep this at my desk at the office and I particularly like how it can be programmed to turn on and off based upon days and times. I don't have to turn it on or off; does it all for me.
The LCD screen is very good, especially the viewing angles. However, there is one thing which I have to dock the screen for... it appears to blow out highlights where they were not blown out on my computer. I've adjusted the brightness and contrast, and while better it still isn't right. It's not a major defect, but considering how much I really like this Sony it's something of a glaring irritant.

What's great about it: Bright, vivid images. Nice remote. Easy to use.
What's not so great: High price. Lack of standard USB port.
This Sony 8 inch frame produces bright, vivid images, but sharpness could be better. Remote control is robust with great functionality. Menu and file system are easy to navigate. Does not accept standard USB flash drives, only the mini-USB. Stand is not adjustable, so the frame sits more vertical than I would like. Overall, happy with my purchase despite relatively high price, even on sale.

What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Bigger would be better
We purchased this for my in-laws, and they were very pleased with it. I appreciate that it uses SDHC cards as well as regular SD cards.
I found the setup to be quick and relatively intuitive.
The display options were a nice feature.

What's great about it: Image quality, size, an easy-to-use remot, its a Sony
What's not so great: There are others less expensive.
I have purchased two of these in the past month. One for my wife for Christmas, the other for my dad who is older and suffering from dimentia. The product works great....I like that it does not have a mat around the picture image area, which keeps the size resonable. Also, the image quality is he abiltiy to use an SD card (4GB for $10) allows it to hold virtually any number of photos you would want. Great product!!

What's great about it: Image quality, energy saving features, remote control
What's not so great: Cost
This Sony has impressive image quality. I like the energy efficiency features, such as LED backlighting and the ability to set the photo frame's hours of operation. The remote control is a nice extra that makes it a little easier to interact with the frame.

What's great about it: Sleek frame; great screen
What's not so great: Small onboard memory
I picked this up on sale for my parents for Christmas. It was so easy to set up everything, they could have done it themselves. Don't let the small memory size onboard deter you. I got a 4gb card for $6. The frame itself is very sleek and modern looking and the screen looks great too. The photos are true to life and it's the perfect size.

Good picture quality. Set up is a bit cumbersome, for the auto on/off features, but not a deal breaker.

What's great about it: Image quality
What's not so great: Nothing, IMO
This is a great digital picture frame. I purchased a Kodak EasyShare P850 shortly after I bought this one because it had gone on sale and I thought I 'd save a few bucks. Having both at home allowed me to compare the two and IMHO, there was no contest. The image quality of the Sony was noticeably better the second I saw the same image on both, side by side.
Transferring images to this frame is as easy as any other frame out there. If you don't have an SD card/Sony Memory Stick/USB thumb drive already lying around your house, check the cable that came with your camera. I have a Canon point-and-shoot and a Nikon D7000 dSLR and the USB cables that came with both cameras can be used to transfer images from the computer to this frame. This applies to any other digital picture frame that has the same mini-USB port like the Kodak P850, which doesn't include one (cable# with their frame, either. When I owned a Sony digital camera, the cable that came with that camera could have been used for transferring pictures to this frame as well. I can't speak for Sony or Kodak but I'm guessing that they know this, which could be one reason #besides trying to keep the cost down# why they don't include one with the frame.
As far as the internal memory size goes, I would agree that by today's standards 128MB does seem small. Having said that, I had no problem putting a full 128MBs worth of images on this frame. Using the highest quality JPEG setting on my D7000 the size of the image is around 7MB, give or take. Using Goggle's Picasa #which is an excellent free program, if you're not familiar# I can quickly and easily crop the image to the proper aspect ratio #4:3), resize and export it to a separate folder using the default settings and have a quality image that is only around 300KB in size. Right now I have over 400 images stored on the 128MB internal memory of this frame and they still look great. This screen size is roughly equivalent to a 4x6 printed photo so a 300KB photo can still look very good, assuming you have a good image to start with. If you want to copy your photos to this frame without cropping and resizing than you will run out of memory quickly. Understand that before you buy the frame and you'll save yourself a lot of grief.
The bottom line is that this is an excellent frame which works exactly as expected if you understand its features and limitations.

What's great about it: It looks great.
What's not so great: No complaints after years of use.
I try not to buy Sony products because of their ridiculous stance on DRM but this is much the best picture frame that I've been able to find, so I make an exception.
Yes, the internal memory is miniscule, but memory cards are dirt cheap and that's much the easiest way to get images onto the frame. Besides, if the frame fails - and they do, eventually - you can just move the memory card to a new frame

What's great about it: Looks nice on an end table or desk, pictures are crisp and nice options for displaying pictures.
What's not so great: Needed to buy a mini B-Type USB cable (not included in box) and still was unable to copy 80M of files onto the frame.
I bought this frame to load with pictures and send to my mother-in-law. I opened the box and found out immediately that I needed to have a mini B-type USB cable (not included in the box) in order to copy pictures from my pc to the frame. There is no indication on the box that an extra cable would be needed.
After aquiring a cable I then sat down to move the picture files to the frame. I had already prepared my pc by creating a separate folder of image files and re-sizing them due to the low capacity internal memory of the Sony frame (128M). The box states 150 files (which would be roughly 854K each). That process in itself was time consuming as most digital camera's folks use >2009 are 2M - 4M in size so be prepared to do some work.
The folder I created had 73 files, each ~ 1M, for a total file size of ~80M. that should have easily fit on the frame. But when I attempted to copy the folder over I was faced with an error message telling me that I needed to remove ~21M from the folder. That left me with three options to get pictures on the frame: 1) go back and resize all files once again, to an estimate of 500K, 2) load only half of the pictures I wanted to have on the frame when I send it or 3) go out and by some external memory.
I attempted to call the Sony support line, at 8:00 PM EST, the message on the 800 number informed me it was after hours and I would need to call an extended support (239-768-7602) toll line for support. I went to Sony's web site but could not locate any help files to answer my question about the problem I was having loading 80M onto the frame that is rated at 128M.
I'm going to opt for the fourth option, which is to return the frame and look for one that is more user friendly and offers better support.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
