What's great about it: Great sound in small spaces
What's not so great: mounting system could be better, glossy black ain't the end-all, be-all finish
I got this system for my parents. They literally had 2 pairs of speakers from 2 different cheap sound systems hot-wired with Romex as their "Front Mains" and a random pair of Bose surrounds. And that was it. The echoes gave me headaches. Love hanging with my parents but I was tired of the headaches, so I got them this set for Christmas. They then went out and got an entry-level Denon receiver to replace a dated Sony receiver and a PolkAudio sub replacing nothing. I ran the Denon auto-setup and I am frankly amazed at how good they all sound. I have a higher end Denon with Infinity IL40 front mains, matched Infinity surrounds, and a BIC America F100 sub, and I was not getting sound this good from my system. So of course I went in and found my receiver settings were hosed. I ran auto-setup again (new home, new sub) and bi-wired my IL40s and now that setup rocks. But my parents' new system ALSO rocks, and for much less money. I deducted a point for the glossy black, grand piano finish (even though it is flawless). I wish we'd get over that. But if it's your thing, there are no flaws in this system. You do need a sub, but you should know that by now. Movies, music, high def, blue ray...it all inspired me to get the most out of my own system.

Great Speakers in a small package. I think it actually says that on the box. Its true. They are dense speakers so they are actually pretty easy to knock over, but they sound great. When I move into my own place, I will probably mount them instead of placing them on shelves.

What's great about it: Size
What's not so great: Overall output
Replace old set of bookshelf speakers. Sound is OK for the size but I do have to drive them hard to come cose to the volume of the old set. Ok for a small room. You will have to use twisted wire to connect them.

work in a professional audio studio and I bought this set for my daughter matched with a Sony STR-DH810 amp/receiver. First off, you MUST add a good sub-woofer if you really want to get the true home theatre experience with this set. I paired it with an MTX 12” 200 watt sub I had laying around. For the price I paid you just can’t go wrong! The mid-range is dead on and great for both movies and music. The highs are crisp and stand out, even with the sub I paired it with. The center channel speaker is not as loud as I would like but with some tweaking it works well. I was impressed with this set. I spent well over $1500.00 for my current speaker system, and was really impressed with the sound from this inexpensive set up. I will admit, I am an audio snob but I was rather impressed with these little speakers.
Pros: Great sharp high end. Good stereo separation. Small and can be hung on a wall. Mid range is full and well balanced.
Cons: must pair with a good sub-woofer for the full effect! The bass drop off is rather sharp. If you want something to shake your house look else where.

What's great about it: Sound quality, value, power tolerance, volume
What's not so great: bass response
I've never heard a better set of home theater speakers. With a good subwoofer, this system can absolutely perform! They don't have much base response but if you have a high quality sub to match with it then you won't miss it. Sound is crystal clear! Pairs very nicely with my Yamaha receiver. I can't ask for much better for my small living room.

What's great about it: Great for the price, sounds better than some more expensive speakers
What's not so great: nothing of note
These are wonderful little speakers, they're well made, handle decent power and sound nice.
They are NOT a replacement for decent towers or bookshelfs, and are not designed to be such. They are, however, a great speaker for a smaller living room or secondary system, or in an area where a larger speaker isn't practical.
I live in an apartment, and enjoy a good surround effect when playing video games or watching movies, and these fit the bill. As with any smaller speaker, it takes a decent amount of practical install to get them to have a good spread. I have my front pair mounted on sanus stands, and the rear set on mounts behind the sofa. They blend well with a 10 inch sub i have, and sound clean at both high and low volumes.
The warranty is 5 years, which is a good indication of the faith Polk puts into the product, and I got a 4 year plan from bestbuy which means that i have 9 years of peace of mind.
The only issue i had was the mounting points of the speakers are recessed, so i needed to take a trip to the hardware store to get longer screws for my mounts. This is honestly more of an issue with the hardware included, as the stands had longer screws and worked perfectly.

What's great about it: great sound and look good with any decor
What's not so great: easy to get fingerprints on cases
i bought these speakers for the family room in my house and have to say that these speakers are very good at what they do. they are loud and with the 100 watt sub complete a very good sounding home theatre experience. they dont quite give the oomph like my klipsch quintet in my bedroom but still deliver impressive surround and the sub does a surprising job with the lows. they look good in any decor

What's great about it: Sound quality, appearance
What's not so great: The sound quality and power are appropriate for the price point, but there are better speakers out there for more money
I recently purchased these Polk speakers to replace Sony tower speakers and a Sony center channel. I like my previous setup, but the wife didn't like the size of the speakers in the family room. I convinced her to let me get these Polk speakers and I am very happy with my purchase. In spite of their relatively small size they produce a powerful and clear sound, particularly at a $400 price point. There are better speakers out there, but at this price point I think that these are among the best.

What's great about it: Excellent sounding and great look
What's not so great: High price for what I consider entry level name brand speakers
These Polks sound great and look awesome! They produce excellent sound with such small speakers. The bass response is great and the tweeters produce crisp clear highs. These speakers are not ment to produce the bone jarring low end bass but they produce a truely wide range clear sound throughout the audio spectrum. Just add a subwoofer and you will end up with a great sounding home theater system with the right receiver or surround sound amplifier.
