I bought this router to replace A Vizio HD router that started dropping the wireless after three years. Before that, the longest any router I bought would last was less than a year. Even when the Vizio was new, our media streaming would frequently drop and stall. Since we installed this Netgear router 4 months ago, we haven't experienced a single media drop. We run a desktop, two laptops, a server, two smartphones, two game consoles and two wifi Blu-Ray players on this router with almost no trouble. And if you configure your wireless card properly, 54Mbps is very, very nice to have.
Installation was fast, easy and absolutely painless, and though the system specs say it's compatible with Windows and Mac, I did all the setup and configuration on an OpenSuse Linux laptop using the web interface so easily I could almost have slept through the process.
It broadcasts wireless on two separate channels (check my terminology, please), one at 2.4g and the other at 5g. I'm not sure how many devices support 5g yet, but its presence in this router means no worries when we upgrade devices.
The one problem we did have may be more a matter of location than a function of the router. There's one spot, about 20 feet from the router, where the sofa is, that seems to have trouble holding the connection with my wife's laptop. But just behind that is my son's room, and he has no trouble with the connection with his desktop, so it's probably not the router itself. But still, make sure of your router placement. Higher up is better. Properly placed, this router seems to be the best I've tried yet.
I'd definitely recommend this router to anyone looking for a fast and easy home or small business router. Not for a large network, of course, but it handles all our devices with ease.

What's great about it: Great Price, 3 Seperate "Networks", Stability, Size

I actually went into BBY to buy a cisco router. But when I got there this router was right below it. I wanted the Cisco E2000 but this one boasted better data rates and was much cheaper. Thanks to the sale I got this great product. I am an IT Systems Administrator so my opinion on how easy it was to setup may not be the best gauge. Although, I will say it is extremely easy to setup. The web interface is great. I didn't even realize, until I got home, that this router has 3 seperate wireless networks all with their own SSIDs. I setup one for my internal network of computers, one for my gaming consoles and there is a handy 3rd one. It actually creates an isolated network that cannot communicate back into your internal network. This is good for when you want to have a guest connection for friends to get on when they are over. I hide the first 2 and broadcast the 3rd. I use my Cisco 7921 wireless VoIP phone on it as well and the connection is amazingly clear unlike my old router.
All in all, extremely glad I bought this.

What's great about it: Easy to install, secure, strong signal everywhere in the house
I'm not a techy person and I thought the router was easy to install. I love that you can view on a computer what devices are connected to your internet. It feels so much more secure and as a parent I can monitor the children's connectivity. I am a student and it is nice to have a strong signal from everywhere in the house. It even has a signal in the yard. Great Product!

very pleased with my purchase other than the range of the device. It loses a lot of integrity going up each floor. I was hoping for more throughput upstairs. But overall awesome product.

I bought this router because my Apple Time Capsule was apparently slowing me down. We had 4 college guys at the house, so we had between 6 and 12 devices running on the network at all times. The Time Capsule could not keep up. Now, with the new Netgear Dual-Band Router, we have no problems! I thought it was always our cable provider that was failing us but it was our super expensive Apple router.
I highly recommend this product for people that have several electronics online at one time.

What's great about it: very strong router
The only problem we had, which I believe was on Verizons end, our internet carrier, was the modem from Verizon and the router did not bridge together after 2 weeks of use. A call to Verizon tech support fixed the problem

Supports multiple devices simultaneously. There are six devices using this in my home, and no complaints. Provides two separate secure wi-fi channels. There is a third guest network option but I have not used it. User management interface is easy to understand and use. Hardware install was simple. Configuring the router after hardware install was very easy.
I am pleased I bought this router and believe I got value for my money.

Very easy setup process in terms of installing the product. I wish that it had a few more connection ports, as it seems like everything needs a connection to the internet these days. It has 4 ports which is good but I could use at least a couple more to connect some other devices to the internet via wire instead of wirelessly.

I recently replaced an Apple Airport that fried out after about 14 months of use. The MediaCom service guy came out to troubleshoot our internet and showed me that it wasn't the cable internet or their modem causing the problem.
He picked up the Apple Airport and dropped it like it was red hot. I touched it and it was extremely hot. I wonder if continued use of this router would've been a fire hazard?
So off to the Best Buy to replaced the router. The sales guy was pretty smart when it came to routers. He suggested several after asking what all I needed to run over the wi-fi in my house.
We settled on this Netgear model and I came home to set it up.
It was a breeze getting internet back on 3 laptops, 1 Apple iMac desktop and 3 ipads.
Its been in use for about a month and it seems to be working pretty good. I can sit in the garage and use my laptop with no problem.
It just seems as if it takes just a little bit longer to get movies to stream smoother than it did before.
I'll update as time goes on.

What's great about it: Extended our internet reach better than our old router.
My home office is at the furthest corner of the house from the internet connection. I was having trouble getting consistent connectivity with our old router--had been tricky from day one, now was impossible. This one so far has never failed, though even it can go down to two bars.
