What's great about it: Great features and image quality, good kit lens.
The EOS 60D is a great camera for both new users to dSLR who want a camera they can grow into and advanced amateurs who are looking to take the next step past a basic dSLR but don't want the weight, bulk, and cost of the 7D or 5D.
This is my first dSLR and I chose Canon because of their continued firmware support, features, price, lens selection, and others I know use them so we can share equipment and compare notes. The features on this camera are great. The articulated screen is extremely handy as you can fold it away when not using it, keeping it protected from oil, dust, etc. You can also fold it out when doing self or family portraits so you can compose the shot. The screen is very clear with a very high (over 1 million) pixel count, meaning images look great and text is easy to read. Performance is fast with a high continuous shooting speed, 0.1 second start up time, and responsive menus. The overall feel and construction of the camera is excellent, the material used for the body is very high quality with rubber grips in all the right places and the buttons have a solid feel and good tactile response. There is a metal mount for the lens and an inner chassis of aluminum that supports the lens weight. While the body is not all magnesium alloy like the 7D, the trade off is less weight and size.
I chose the 60D over the other cameras (such as the new rebel T3i) because for the price, you get a lot more with this kit than the Rebels can offer. For one, the kit comes with a much better 18-135mm stabilized lens. Additionally, the camera has several key features that separate it from the Rebel line. True, both the T3i and the 60D have the same sensor, and the same articulated screen, but the 60D does have other things that justify the price difference. The 60D has two wheels, one under your index finger and one on the back of the body so when in full manual mode you can adjust the shutter speed with the index finger wheel and the aperture with the wheel on the back of the camera. Also, the AF system is better on the 60D. While both have 9 points, the AF on the 60D is cross type on 8 of them with dual cross on the center sensor. The T3i is only cross type on the center sensor at F/2.8. This means the 60D can focus more quickly and accurately than the Rebel. Also, the 60D has an integrated digital level that you can use to get a perfect horizon shot on the fly and can be configured to show up on the main LCD or in the viewfinder. Finally, the 60D has a top LCD screen that shows the current settings. This is incredibly convenient as you can adjust the settings and see what the settings are without having to look through the viewfinder or use the main LCD display. There are also some other things that differentiate the two, such as a faster shutter on the 60D (can go as fast as 1/8000 second) and a bigger battery.
The picture quality is excellent with some noise starting to creep into the pictures at around ISO 1600. At 3200 or 6400 it is more noticeable, but this is typical of every digital camera and is just an effect of how they work. The camera has built in noise reduction that will limit it, and also includes software with even more control where you can really smooth it out. AF lock is extremely fast and is really only limited by the capabilities of the lens that is attached to the camera. The features list is extensive with tons of options for making the perfect photo. It can also process raw images in the camera and take both RAW and jpeg at the same time, as well as bracket photos at different exposure levels automatically (great if you are into HDR).
Overall, this is a great camera with a good price point for someone who isn't looking to use their camera as a professional. I am very pleased with it and recommend it highly.

What's great about it: Came with a great bundle package, Great battery life, Processes pictures really quickly, Love the flip out screen, Video
What's not so great: Have to get used to delete button placement, Washed out color on Auto settings
This camera is great! It's not as heavy or as big as other cameras, so it doesn't get in the way or hassle you while taking pictures on a long adventure. Once you get used to the button layout, it's so easy and feels intuitive to change the settings. The auto focal points also work very nicely. I usually hate high ISO settings because of the noise, but I have been impressed with the settings at high ISO when I've used them. Overall, this has been a great purchase.

What's great about it: Easy to use, Great hand grip, Good placement of buttons, takes great pictures!!
What's not so great: ... Haven't found anything yet
I'm going to start by saying that I am a complete novice at photography. I have wanted to learn for years and now that my kids are old enough I have some time to devote to it. When I started researching, one of my criteria was that I needed very fast shutter speed and the ability to take multiple pics quickly. My kids play sports and I wanted to get that perfect slide across the plate, or awesome catch and also have the pictures clear. The Canon 60D was rivaling the Nikon D7000 for me in my research. I read hours of reviews, both professional and consumer. I was stymied, but slightly leaning towards the Nikon, although the cost difference was more significant than I felt the ability difference warranted. I finally decided it was time to play with them. I played with the Nikon first and liked it very well. Then I moved on to the Canon. As soon as I lifted it and settled it in my grip, I knew it was the one for me. Grip is different for each person, and the Canon 60D sits in my hand perfectly. It has a clearly dedicated grove in the back for your thumb and the buttons don't get in the way. That was honestly what decided me on the Canon.
That being said, I have had it for a couple of weeks now, and I love it!!! Some of the reviews I read said that this camera was too advanced for a beginner, but I have not found that to be true. The level of automation that is available makes it very easy to use while learning all the features available on this awesome camera. I have loved taking pictures at my kids games, and have captured, very clearly, and through the fence, some great shots!!! I am looking forward to learning to use this camera to it's full potential!!
Also, I have to say how helpful the associates at my local Best Buy were as I pestered them with questions on 2 different occasions. They were kind and patient as well, since I had my very lively 3 year old with me both times. I am a solid Best Buy customer for life.

What's great about it: Great pics great video
What's not so great: Little loud, video limited to 12 min clips
I am an amature photographer. Took a beginner class and am very happy I choose the Canon EOS 60D. I purchased this camera based on reviews and it has not dissappointed. Picture is very good, features are great, the articulating screen is worth every penny. Favorite features: fast shutter, wireless flash capabilities, articulating screen, 24,30,60 frames per second HD video, design and feel. The Cons: video is limited to 12 min clips, location of depth of field button, wish it was quieter.
If you buy this camera you will not be dissappointed.

Its ok in my book! If you have the extra money get the Canon 7d, it has more professional features and is alot quicker in both shots per second and focusing. Alot of people like the flip and turn LCD but you really dont need it. All Canon Camera's are great!

What's great about it: Everything, all around wonderful camera
What's not so great: The weight, it is rather heavy
I'm an Equine Photographer and shutter speed and quality images are important to me. When Canon made the 60D, they answered a dream of mine. The shutter speed is amazing! Freezing fast motion is so easy and the pictures come out wonderful! And the functions are so easy to use! I can't say enough about this camera. It's well worth the money and I suggest this camera for anyone who is looking to become a pro or even for the mom at their child's soccer game. There is no limit to what this camera can do! I would not recommend this camera to total beginners.

I have had this camera for about 2 1/2 weeks now and I love it! It was easy to figure out the different settings, and for it to take amazing pictures. I upgraded from a Canon Rebel XT 8mp with a a 1.5 in screen. The 3 in screen is amazing I can actually tell what I am looking at when I am reviewing my pictures. I can tell more if eyes are closed, if the picture is blurry. I Love It! Well worth the money for the new upgrade to help get my business off on the right foot.

What's great about it: Everything - Best features. Ease of use
What's not so great: Nothing
After carefully comparing the T3i, the 60D and the 7D. The 60D won in all categories so I bought it and it is absolutely incredible. Does everything I expected and MORE. It will take me months to review all its features. When I got it, after charging the battery, I was taking pics with it in less then 60 seconds without ever opening the manual. I do night shooting and HDR. The built in HDR function truly blows away any other camera maker. My night shooting has impressed everyone. I have been doing photography for 35 years and can assure you this camera is the ticket to great pics with ease but with all the extra features. The cameras processor does an incredible job of getting it right.

Easier to use than my cheaper older Canon. Picture quality is improved in low light, fast moving shots and other scenarios. ISO range is wonderful for taking low light pictures without a flash that turn out clear not grainy. Haven't even tried the HD video feature but that's not why I purchased this camera. I have had it in use since Christmas and am still learning. The more I learn the more I like the camera. My old Canon is a 6 Megapixel Digital Rebel xls and I had it for years. I upgraded to increase the printable picture size and to increase my ability to control my camera in low light and other scenarios. I take wedding pictures and my clients love the quality printed and digital.

This was my first DSLR, i did a lot of research before i made the plunge. I opted for the 60D instead of the 7D because i saw no major difference other than the weight and durability of the camera. I'm very pleased with my first couple months of use. Pictures have been fantastic and video even better. I would definitely recommend for the first time buyer. I would recommend you purchase the body only and save some money for a good lens.

My son have been behind this camera since last August 2011 and have read everything that you can imagine from reviews, specs, youtubbe videos, etc. and finally, maybe because of the subliminal persistence of my son... we decide to gift him this camera for christmas. Since Dec 25 my son has been taking picture of almost everything that goes in front of him and so far the camera was exactly what he was expecting.
He is 18 and sport photography is his passion. I guess that if he choose this camera along many others is simply because he thinks is the best that fits his needs and since he got it, the camera was exactly what he was expecting, so bottom line I fully recommend this camera to anybody, it worth every penny!!!
