What's great about it: well built, sounds good
What's not so great: nothing that I know about
My old cd (dvd) player was the weak link in my home stereo system, and I upgraded it to this. The Marantz feels solidly built (it's heavy!) and the mechanics of the cd drawer feel solid, too. The function buttons are intuitive. I am quite happy with the sound of my system now (NAD amp and pre-amp, Focal speakers, and this cd player). There are definitely better sounding cd players out there (e.g., the Yamaha I listened to, for $800), but in this price range ($350), this was a good choice!
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: "Old school" simplicity, superb sound.
What's not so great: Not a thing
Provides the clearest sound possible. Nice, simple design. Audiophile quality unit.

What's great about it: Nothing is lacking.
What's not so great: Nothing this good has any detectable flaws.
What more can be said? Transiants are crisp, clear and concise. The "CD" sound is lacking as this player acts as though it is playing analog recordings like a vinyl record. Absolutely spot on in every catagory of performance and appearance. In a catagory with the big boys like Oppo, Naim, Rega, NAD, Bystron, Musical Fidelity and scores of others. Well done and highly recommended. A bargain that will be referred to for years to come.

What's great about it: Simple, easy to use,
What's not so great: wish it cost less
I admit I an a dinosaur. But I have a lot of CD's and I got this when my older player died. This is easy to use and sound and function are excellent.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: The ability to let you experience your CDs for the first time all over again.
What's not so great: Nothing. Perfect as it is.
This cd player is something incredible. The quality of the audio and the amount of detail it reveals is jaw dropping. I have it connected to a pair or MartinLogan Source 4's speakers. The clarity of the audio, the ability to adjust pitch, and the fact that it has an option to shut down extra features to focus more power on higher quality sound still....I can never go back to listening to CDs on anything that is not the Marantz CD5004.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: great sound. fast loading.
What's not so great: It's not free.
This is a great sounding cd player. Sounded much better than the blue ray player i was using. Has fast response time for loading and playing cd's.
I would recommend this to a friend!
