What's great about it: Cute to have videos on the web, but not very useful
What's not so great: VERY expensive given that this does not include the DVDs...
I received this item for "free" as a promotion when I purchased a video camera. While the description says that it is to transfer video to disk, there are lots of extra charges above what you pay for here.
First, I had to pay for the return shipping of my tapes back to me. This was a little annoying, but since it was free, I figured that $6 to have two tapes transfered to DVD would have been worth it.
I did receive emails saying that they received my tapes and when they had converted them. However, process is long, and it took several weeks to have my tapes returned to me. However, no DVDs were included. When I emailed customer service (not very convienient hours...) they said that my package didn't come with DVD creation, it was only to copy my DVDs and post it to the web for 30 days. They were nice enough to toss in DVD creation if I paid again for shipping, however I feel ripped off.
Only get this if you intend to pay extra to have DVD's created. If you want to store your videos online for a month to share with others, this will work.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: Can convert any home video format to digital/DVD
What's not so great: Took me 2 - 3 weeks, start to finish
I bought this iMemories home video transfer service and ended up sending in a mix of videotapes (mostly VHS) plus a whole bunch of my dad's Super 8 movie reels, to have them all converted to digital on DVDs. The discs turned out better than I expected (not sure what I expected) and my parents loved them -- which is a good thing since I didn't tell them in advance that I had taken all their movie reels to be converted. The company sent me all my original tapes & reels back with the finished DVDs. I guess what I liked most about this vs other options is that iMemories let's you watch all your movie footage online before they make your DVDs, so you can pretty much organize and label your discs however you want them. This came in handy cuz I chose to delete a lot of bad scenes we had on the videotapes, which made the DVDs much more enjoyable to watch (as my mother says) than the original versions. I'll probably convert the rest of my family's home movie collection using this service between now and the holidays.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Excellent product/service quality, and overall, great value for the money. We really did our research before choosing iMemories... We had two entire tubs filled with home movies going back to the 1960's, that were stuck on old film reels and various formats of videotapes. After looking into all the options for having these converted onto DVDs, we decided to use the iMemories service. What a huge time and sanity saver for my husband and I! So thrilled - as our home movies are now on beautiful custom DVDs with personalized covers -- far better than anything we could have ever done ourselves. We're huge iMemories fans now! Great product/service.
I would recommend this to a friend!
