What's great about it: sound quality/ease of use
My parents have had a whole home audio system being run off of one of these for 5 years now without a single problem. Regarding the people who have had these die: The main reason one of these would die is having poor ventilation causing the to amp overheat. Secondly, if you don't hook the speakers up to it properly (switching the polarity of the wires) it can also cause the amp to overheat. Make sure you set it up properly and it will work and produce great quality music for years.

What's great about it: When it works, it does what it is supposed to do.
What's not so great: Quality, and the companies repair policy
I've had two of these units for just over two years. The first unit failed just over 1 year into it's service life. The only place that can service these units is the Niles service center. They told me the unit was out of warranty and that it would cost $280 to repair the unit. I decided to have it repaired.
Then a couple of weeks ago, my second ZR-6 failed. This time when I contacted Niles, they informed me that had instituted a $525 flat fee repair policy. It doesn't matter if the fuse is blown, or some other 10 cent part went bad that will take 1 minute to repair, it will be $525 to fix the unit. I guess that would be a good deal if the unit had sustained a direct lightening strike, but that is not the nature of most repairs.
For $2000-odd dollars you'd expect a quality unit and a company that will stand behind their product. If you're looking for that type of a product and company, keep looking.

What's great about it: power saving
What's not so great: no hdmi inputs, no componenent inputs and no outputs
After reading the specifications I came to realise that I couldn't plug in to it so that I would never be disappointed by any sound abnormalities.
