What's great about it: Mechanical, great clicky noise, macros, good software, great for typing
What's not so great: a little pricy, glossy
If you want a mechanical keyboard that has a feel and sound like an IBM M model keyboard, this keyboard will do great. It feels great when typing and also has a great clicky noise, which I was looking for. The software needed is download is pretty good too because it lets you customize pretty much everything on the keyboard and create macros.
The only gripe I have with it is that it is glossy and attracts smudges and fingerprints like no other. It would have been better if it was a matte black instead of glossy black.

What's great about it: The feel
What's not so great: the design
Pros:
Great feel
Great response
Solid build
clicking sound?
Keys rated for 50g's?
Cons:
Shiny = lots of smudges
No back light
THICK
Clicking sound?
I like the feel, the design isn't over the top like some of the other designs that Razer has. EASY macro and on the fly bindings. the only thing it's missing is back lighting and an aux jack. the Lycosa is 30 bucks cheaper and it has all that. PLUS THE touch pad. The way it is with this compared to the other keyboards i would rather have this since its the most decently priced with the best reviews. But for the aesthetics i wouldn't buy it. The back lighting is a big factor for me since i like to play with the lights off. Also the thickness of the keyboard is a bit of a turnoff its almost as if i have the back braces standing up. i understand its mechanical and its thick for that purpose so is the clicking sound. but i wished they could have improved on HOW thick it should be. The click drove me crazy for a few hours but now its starting to grow on me. Actually its helped me with my gaming and my keystrokes. BATTLE FIELD 3!!!!

What's great about it: Comfort, Macro's you can customize, Very Durable, Gaming Mode.
What's not so great: Loud noise.
Pro's: This is a truly great mechanical gaming keyboard. It has a nice comfortable durable feel to it, it has 5 different macro keys that can easily be customized, and gaming mode which can disable the windows key until you want to use it again. It is also quite nice for typing when you get the hang of it.
Con's: This keyboard can easily be confused with the ultimate edition which is backlit and is known to have a bit more problems than this one. Seeing how it is mechanical it might be harder for people to get used to the feel and the loudness of typing.
Overall this keyboard is a very good buy if you don't mind the loud noise.

What's great about it: Fascinating feeling for typing and gaming
As a mechanical qwerty with Cherry MX Blue Click Tactile, what should I say? Excellent! Well, however, the design the shell make it a fingerprints collector...

Returned this after a few weeks due to a key which would get stuck a couple times a day. Contacted Razer customer service (who were pretty responsive), and they suggested I return it, rather than go through them. Ended up purchasing a Das, which I would recommend over this.

What's great about it: cherry mx blue switches, price, overall look
What's not so great: macro key location, font, inverted symbols/numbers
Recently i purchased a new computer as my last was pretty out of date. Since i was picking up a new computer i got one that was able to handle my gaming needs (Starcraft 2 and league of Legends) and thought why not get a keyboard that performs as well. I was looking at the DAS Professional, Steelseries 6GV2, and the Razer Blackwidow standard.
I ended up going with the Razer Blackwidow because i personally like the feel and sound of the Cherry MX blue switches that come equipped. The price was also what drew me in as it was very affordable mechanical keyboard compared to the competitors out there but only time will tell it's value.
My biggest concern with the keyboard was that all the keys were there, there were no duplicates, and the keys were in the right places as a few reviews on the interwebs have mentioned that was an issue but i was glad to see everything was in order. i was very impressed by the Razer packaging. The high gloss black finish looks great. I've only had the keyboard for a couple of weeks but haven't had any problems with finger prints or anything like that but it might be too soon to tell. If there are any issues down the line i'll be sure to update my review.
In regards to the feel of typing on it the best way i can describe it is accurate. You can feel the difference immediately from a membrane keyboard. Its feels like it takes less pressure to press the keys in and the sound is very rewarding. if you're looking for a quiet keyboard though this one probably isn't for you. It's not as loud as i thought it would be but it is "clicky" none the less. also the "F" keys have been shifted to right by about half an inch.
There are a couple of things that i didn't like about the keyboard though but they aren't deal breakers for me. The symbols on the number keys across the top and the punctuation keys have been inverted which takes little getting used to. Also the font was kind of "alien" but it is a "gaming" keyboard so this kind of thing is expected.
I think my biggest issue with the keyboard is the placement of the macro keys (which i don't think u can use with Starcraft 2 possibly for ToS violation) while gaming. I find myself reaching for the "ctrl" key and mistakenly hitting the "M5" button and having issues making control groups but other then that its a great keyboard.
Overall for the price and what you get this is a great keyboard.

What's great about it: Great build, clicky, minimalist
What's not so great: No passthroughs (get the Ultimate if you must have them)
I was nostalgic for my IBM Model M days and had to get a mechanical keyboard. There was an adjustment, but I'm satisfied with this guy.
I'm not a huge gamer so the macro abilities didn't mean much to me, but just getting a well built keyboard for less than a C-note these days is very welcome. I'm glad the design isn't too ostentatious, either. The switch to disable the Windows key should be on every single keyboard in existance.
The macro keys on the left really initially messed me up, though. I constantly found myself sliding over one row to the left and typing out garbage. It took a couple weeks of frequent typing on it to adjust, but I'm comfortable now.
Could have used a USB passthrough, but I'll live without it for $50 less.

What's great about it: Design Sound,Simple, Easy use, layout,
What's not so great: none.
This is my first mechanical keyboard and I really like the feel and sound of it. So much better than my membrane keyboard... that thing was dying and it felt so weak.
The Value of this keyboard isn't so bad compared to other gaming keyboards. It has a lot of features like the 5 macro keys which can be programmed for different things.
Compatibility of this keyboard can go with any PC computer though there is a mac version of this keyboard. easy to use and set up with razer drivers.I think all users non gamers and just casual pc users will like this keyboard unless you hate the sound this thing makes but I like the sound.
The design of this thing is beautiful. People have complained about the gloss on the outer edges of the keyboard but I don't really mind. It's going to get dirty no matter what either way, its this a really nice and simple designed keyboard.
Though this is my first mechanical keyboard I don't find it really hard to type on. Somehow I always like these kind of keyboard feel and not so much of the membrane keyboards.. If you're not sure what a mechanical keyboard feels like just type on a really out dated keyboard. Kind of has the same feel but this thing just feels more redefined.
So far I like it, and I hope to find out how to use the macro keys in the future. I recommend this keyboard to PC users whether of not your a gamer. It's easy to type on and you don't feel like you need a break from typing too much.

What's great about it: Very cheap for a mechanical keyboard. Quality product.
What's not so great: Loud keys? Not really that big of a deal though.
Amazing keyboard. Fast response time, only have to press the keys in halfway to hit the key (takes a bit of getting used to, but great once you do). Easy to find drivers on the Razer website, and very simple to set up profiles for the macro keys. Only had it for about a month so far but seems very durable and loving every bit of it.

What's great about it: Everything!
What's not so great: Nothing.
I originally bought the Razer Lycosa from Best Buy, it was nice and everything but the reviews and the rubberized keys kinda steered me away from it so I returned it, I love Best Buy's customer service! I then saw the Razer BlackWidow on Best Buy's website and did a little research on it to find out that it was a mechanical gaming keyboard! I ordered via Expedited and it arrived very prompt in pristine condition!
This keyboard is built like a tank! It weighs about a good 8 lbs.! The keyboard uses Cherry MX blues switches which have a pretty loud tactile feedback to them, might I say I enjoy it! The keyboard has a shiny black piano finish to it which I find more then compliments my Razer Naga! You hook up the keyboard via USB 2.0 and the cable is braided. Razer put a lot of work and effort into this keyboard and it shows. There is the Razer logo on the bottom of the keyboard which you can light up via Fn+F12! The keys are not rubberized and are not backlit whereas the Ultimate edition is but hey, I know my keyboard well!
Razer claims that this is the first true mechanical gaming keyboard to hit the market and I agree with them. Steelseries' mechanical keyboards are probably amazing keyboards no doubt but they don't have programmable buttons, nor do they have programmable macros! You don't have to push all the way down for the keys to register as they do when pushed not even halfway down! This keyboard puts my Logitech G15 Rev.2 to shame!
The Blackwidow also allows for macro recording on the fly and can also program up to 10 profiles! It features 5 dedicated macro buttons on the left side of the keyboard. I'm still new to macro's though. Drivers installation was a breeze and trouble free! Unlike the Ultimate version this version does not have a USB port nor does it have a mic and headphone jack . No concerns for as my headset is USB and my laptop has the appropriate amount of ports for my needs!
My WPM has gone up as I know now that every key stroke is being registered as it can be easily heard now! Gaming with it has been a real treat too! I play games such as SC2, WoW, CoD4, CoD MW2 amongst other shooters. I recommend this keyboard to all types of gamers whether you're a FPS, RTS, MMORPG, this baby will do it all!
I cannot find any cons about this keyboard at all. Extremely well priced for a mechanical gaming keyboard and for the features that it has, it's a steal! Thank you Razer for putting out yet another great product and congrats on your first mechanical gaming keyboard!
Other thoughts: Running on Asus G73jh with Logitech G35, Razer Naga and the Razer BlackWidow!
