What's not so great: absolutely did not need a 12 month subscription
The sales clerk convinced us we absolutely needed this membership in order to purchase games and try game demos. We never intended to use it for streaming video, movies, or using multi-player games via Xbox Live. All we wanted was to occasionally access the Xbox store to purchase (with the points cards you would purchase) digital games. We've accessed Live once in the 2 months we've had the system. It just isn't needed. The free access to Live would have been MORE than sufficient for our needs.
Now, I'm sure for folks who are wanting to access all the other stuff, this would be valuable. For us, not so much. A thumbs down for the sales clerk who told us (extremely amateur video gamers) we HAD to have it to access Xbox Live.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Yeah, I'm hooked on Xbox Live so deals for subscription renewals are big with me. Decent price, not the best but better than regular. Card arrived quickly and was able to pickup at store after ordering online.

Got a whole year at a great price, $39.99. Averaged out over 12 months that's $3.33 a month, as opposed to the one month $9.99 online price.

It sucks that you have to pay to have access to Xbox live but its worth it . I get to watch Hulu and Netflix and play with friends.

I was very happy with the price it was being sold for. Unfortunately it was not activated for us to redeem on our xbox 360 when we got it. We could not redeem the code for the 12 month membership.

I purchased a second year of XBOX Live for my son. Since he is only 8 years old, I've found that having this subscription is a great way for us to try many games "before" we buy the full version. The one year subscription was normally $59, but we caught the one year subscription on sale for $39. Considering what services and benefits you get by having xbox live, this is was an exceptional value at $39.

What's great about it: No Worries for whole Years
The LIVE Gold membership experience is great. It allows you to do several things on your Xbox, and here are some of them.
Gaming: You can play with your friends on-line wherever they are, Chat with friends face-to-face on your TV with Kinect, download and play free game demos.
Video: You can Watch Free movies or TV shows with Crackle, or if you already have a monthly membership with Netflix or Hulu you are good to go. You can also view live sports and highlights on ESPN.
Music: You can listen to personalized music with last.fm, iHeartRadio or Zune Music.
Note: I know that it’s obvious but it’s worth mentioning that the Game Modern Warfare 3 is not included with the purchase of this card.

I found this to be a wonderful bargain! My son renewed his membership through xBox and it was $59.99 with this being $39.99. We cancelled the one through xBox and purchased this for him and my husband and saved $40 total.
