What's great about it: Look and sound. They look, sound and feel like "good quality".
What's not so great: Probably too "high end" and expensive for rear speakers. But I'm happy!
I was very happy with these CM1 speakers. While they are probably too high-end for back speakers, they go very nicely with my CM9s. I love the sound and enjoy the quality. They also look great!
This product has... Right size for my space, Easy to set up, Good build quality, awesome sound!
About me... love electronics and great sound!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Wow - the sounds quality is terrific, even at lower volumes. They compare favorably to the giant furniture-sized ones we used to have without taking up much space. Very sleek and sytlish, too.
This product has... Right size for my space, Good build quality
About me... Technically challenged

Listened to the 685's, walked out with the CM1's!

What's great about it: Build quality, mid-range and tweeter's are as good as I can appreciate
What's not so great: That I don't have them in every room of my house!
I've always been a fan of B&W speakers since I was a young Broadcast Engineer in the early '90's and listened to a colleague's 801 Series 2 Matrix monitors. Back then I wasn’t in a position to buy a B&W product of my own. Fast forward 20 years, I was excited to see B&W being widely distributed and therefore, very reasonably priced. Looking at the paper specs, I walked in with the purpose of auditioning the B&W 685’s. The 685’s sounded good, that was until the switch was pressed and the CM1’s came on! Listen to the 685’s and the CM1’s side by side and you’ll hear that the 685’s sound muddy in comparison. The CM1’s drivers provide much better clarity and imaging in the mid-range on up.
The 685’s bass was more extended, albeit a bit exaggerated and on the boomy side for my tastes. The CM1’s bass was tighter and more controlled but didn’t extend quite as low; it was surprisingly close because the CM1’s cabinet has a much smaller volume. I’d imagine the cone excursion of the CM1 driver is greater to make up for the lack of cabinet volume. Because I use a 15” Velodyne sub with my bookshelf speakers, the bass response wasn’t a major factor anyway, whereas mid-range and tweeter performance were.
The other speaker I listened to was the PSB Synchrony One B. I couldn’t tell much difference at all between the CM1 and the Synchrony One’s……then I saw that the Synchrony One’s were twice the price of the CM1’s, at that point I really couldn’t tell any difference! For my aging ears, the B&W’s are probably the highest end speaker I can appreciate. Paying for any more clarity, lower distortion or better imaging would be wasted on my abused ears. For me, the CM1’s were the best option and I felt the extra money spent over the 685’s was money well spent.
I would recommend this to a friend!
