Great printer for pictures

What's great about it: reasonably priced, great print quality of pictures taken with the camera or scanned.
What's not so great: Each time the printer is shutdown I need to reinstall the drivers to get the wireless printing to work.
I absolutlely love the quality of the printer but once the printer is turned off and I log back into the wireless network I need to reinstall the driver on my laptop to get the printer to print again items from the laptop (will still print items sent from iPhone).

What's great about it: size
What's not so great: takes forever to print a picture
takes forever to print a simple picture! the gloss paper went in and out of it like 5 times(layer of color at a time). the screen wasnt clear enough. the size was great but performance was not good at all.

What's not so great: I paid freight!
I bought this as a gift for a teenager that is very artistic and travels as her parents live in 2 locations. She LOVES it! And I have been the reciepient of wonderful artworks.
Too bad they did not have this item in the store as I had to pay freight.
Best Buy should comp the freight on anything not inventoried over a certain price!

Good printer but requires proprietary paper

This printer is compact, convenient and makes excellent prints. My biggest complaint is that it does not state on the box that you must use proprietary paper to use the printer. I have lots of 4x6 paper I cannot use with this device. I also found it difficult to find the paper required and had to order it online

What's great about it: Small footprint & high quality prints
What's not so great: Slow speed
Die sublimation printing is higher quality than inkjet for pictures, but it is a multi pass process which also makes it slow. I use this next to my main inkjet printer just for small picture printing. This way I can just keep letter size paper in my inkjet. The Selphy is very compact in size.

not the best printer...it takes five minutes just to print one single picture and the color isn't that great. it's slow and not the best choice unless this is for a little kid just having fun with his or her friends, then this would make a great toy.

What's great about it: Easy to use. Good quality. Long lasting photos. Print small sizes easily.
What's not so great: Very occassionally doesn't fix red eye
Easy to set up and use, with or without a computer. Small size for great portability. Printed the same photo with this printer and at two different store machines. The photo from the Selphy CP800 was even better than one of the store photos. Selphy photos are long lasting, unlike those from most printers. I love printing 2 photos on one 4X6 sheet to get more pics on my scrapbook page. Supplies are easily found at Best Buy, Office Depot, and Amazon. When set up to do so, most of the time it fixes red eye, but occasionally I need my scrapbooking red eye pen. Note, the largest photo you can print is 4X6. After I got my Selphy early, my cousin asked for one for her Christmas gift. Love it!

What's great about it: easy to transport
I need a photo printer to print instant pictures at my church for a variety of activities and that is small enough for me to cart back and forth from home. We previously used Polaroids, and then I used a Kodak camera dock printer. Kodak discontinued my model, so I went to Best Buy and bought this Canon portable photo printer. It was easy to set up right out of the box and was very similar to my old Kodak camera dock, so I knew pretty much how to work it. I am very pleased with my purchase and hope that Canon produces the paper and ink for this printer for many years. Just know that only a few pieces of photo paper are included with the printer; buy a package of paper and ink (sold together) when you buy the printer!

What's great about it: It was great with older computers.
What's not so great: It doesn't work with the most current computers.
It looks like Canon is largely leaving the Macintosh platform, so beware of buying any of their products with the hope to use them on Macs. This is not the only printer for which they have discontinued drivers. Many of their products do not work with the new Lion OS (10.7) including products which are only months old. It's left me with quite a lot of paper and ink which cannot be used with my new computer. My suggestion would be to stay away from not only their printers, but also cameras and other products, as they have determined that Windows will receive future driver support.

This printer printed perfectly. Great color ,very easy to use straight out of the box. Would have loved to keep it but.... Canon has decided not to provide drivers for the operating system OSX lion Version 10.7.2 on MAC
so I had to return it. For my use I need the full screen on the computer.

I was at an event several weeks ago where I needed to set up a photography kiosk and print photos on the fly. I didn't want to lug my home printer so I hit the market for portables. The least expensive I found was the Canon Selphy CP800. All I wanted to print was 4 x 6's and this fit the bill. I'm a Canon shooter and am biased towards Canon, so the brand name and feature set was an added bonus.
The printer itself is small, light, and compact. It's the perfect size and weight. The photo/paper is of high quality and is sold together. One ink cartridge will print exactly one pack of paper. Both the ink and paper are easy to load.
Printing is relatively fast, as the photo is sucked back in to the printer several times- the printer prints Red, Blue, Green, and the clear coat separately. The total printing process, even after the multiple passes have completed still takes under a minute.
The quality of the printed photo is outstanding and far exceeded my expectations. All the customers whom I printed for were happy with the paper and the quality. So was I.
There are two cool things about this printer, which are optional accessories and make the printer even more portable. With a separate (ie not included) BT dongle- you can print wirelessly over BlueTooth. Canon sells one for the printer, but I've read elsewhere that you can use a third-party standard BT dongle. I have not tried this yet. Also, Canon makes a battery for the printer. That accessory I'm definitely buying.

I did not like the idea that best buy does not carry the adapters that i needed for this printer. if they are going to sell this product then they should be stocked with adapters to go with it...i had to go on line to other places to get my adapters.

I like this photo printer, it's tiny and was easy to set up. The only thing I'm having a hard time with is finding ink for it. Can't find it in a brick and mortar store, have to buy it off the internet.

Printer is very easy to set up and software is a snap to install. Print quality is excellent and speed is acceptable. Because of the way the paper tray attaches, it uses more desktop real estate than I expected. This is on the very high side of "Good" or the lower side of "Excellent".
