What's great about it: You never heard voice like this
What's not so great: Nothing
Perfect compliment to my B and W 804 Tower speaker. Never heard sound this food from classical to rock to vocal.

What's great about it: Look, sound, power handeling, stands out
What's not so great: Larger in size, but not an issue for me
I have accumulated a hodge podge of very good speakers over the years. I have 2 infinity prelude towers, 2 deftech supercuber subs, 4 triad in ceiling surround speakers, but needed a very good center speaker. I looked at almost every center channel I could find. Its important to LISTEN to any speAker befor you buy it. I spent 2 hours in my local Magnolia/BB listening to different sources in each center channel they had. I felt this was the best center speaker for the money. It handles voice tv very well! But also music dvds and movies. It blended surprisingly well with all my other speakers. The speaker is large, but i amstill able to conceal it in my entertainment center behind a grilled enclosure. I am very happy i spent good money for this great speaker. I have had it for 1 month now and love it.

What's great about it: Crystal clear highs, deep bass, good value for the price.
What's not so great: Absolutely nothing!
The B&W HTM61 is an absolutely superb center channel speaker. It's crystal clear highs, open midrange, and authoritative bass make every film soundtrack a revelation. I'm hearing detail in films that I never even knew were there, and it has such impact that a subwoofer is barely even necessary! Fit and finish/build quality are also top-notch, especially for a speaker in this price range. I have it mated to a 125 WPC amplifier along with a pair of B&W 683 towers, and I'm in auditory bliss. The HTM61 receives my highest recommendation for both movies and five-channel music. You won't be disappointed: it's well worth the price of admission. Thank you, B&W and Best Buy!

What's great about it: Uh, nothing

I recently purchased a pair of B&W 685 bookshelf speakers, which were to be the first part of a 5.1 system I was building (I planned on adding the HTM61 and then the 683s, at which point I'd move the 685s to the rear). They are amazing - great crisp full sound. I ordered the HTM61 to be delivered to the store a couple of weeks later. Stupid me, I didn't listen to it first, I just figured that it would be as amazing as the 685s. Man, was I ever wrong. I couldn't believe the sound. Voices were muddy, indistinct, muffled. I was astounded that the same company made both speakers. I don't think it was a defective speaker, either; if you research it online, you'll find that this center speaker has received some very mixed reviews.
I returned all three B&W speakers, since I wanted my system to be from the same manufacturer and product line. It was tough to get rid of the 685s since they were awesome, but I simply couldn't live with the HTM61. Be sure to listen to it before purchasing to form your own opinion.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is a 3-Way Bowers & Wilkins center channel speaker, and it definitely lives up to what you would expect from this type of speaker from this kind of speaker manufacturer. Honestly, I could not believe that B&W speakers are being offered at Best Buy now. But then again, so are other fairly high end brands, like Martin Logan.
When matched with a commensurate home theater receiver and audio source (I have a Pioneer Elite SC-25, Monster Cable MCX-2S speaker cables, and a Sony BDP-S350 Blu-ray player), this center channel easily demonstrates to even the untrained ear what quality sound really is, and the importance of a quality center channel speaker in a home theater. For example, while watching the movie "Inception", there was a particular scene where someone was hit by a car and there was a windshield cracking sound - that was the most realistic sound I've ever heard out of a center channel! Sounded like I was there... I was thoroughly impressed! The speaker also excels at separating the subtleties in voice and quiet elegant music.
The woofers are made of Kevlar, and comfortably handle just about anything you can throw at them within reason. I also own a pair of B&W 685 bookshelf speakers (I use them as my fronts).
ALL speakers sound differently based upon the particular manufacturer, materials used, connections, and other environmental factors. BUT, this center channel speaker can be expected to perform admirably in just about any particular application with even lower-end equipment (though I wouldn't recommend trying it).
I highly recommend this speaker and its matching B&W 600 series siblings.
