What's great about it: sound quality, deep bass and clear treble
What's not so great: front grill, and appearance
Great sound and deep bass, you spend only half price for the 684B for almost the same sound quality as its brother CM8 that costs double. I bought CM8 after a few weeks I went to Bestbuy Macnolia, and I listened to both, there was not much different. the CM8 has clearer and stronger treble, but the 684B has deeper and stronger bass because its has 6-1/2" woofer size compare to CM8 5-1/2" woofer. If you are on budget and looking for B&W speakers, choose the 684B over the CM8, you save $1100. Thanks the B&W for making the 683B and 684B for an alternative choice of the CM8 and CM9 which cost double.

What's great about it: Mezmerizing sound quality, fantastic projection, clear instrument separation, awesome price
What's not so great: If I had to pick something I would say the cabinets look slightly dated compared to some others in the price range
Absolutely crystal clear amazing sound reproduction that projects! What more could you ask for in this price range?
Musical instruments, vocals and movies almost sound live. I have paired mine with the B&W HTM62 center, Velodyne DSP12 sub, unknown Onkyo 4.5" rears and Denon AVR-3311CI receiver for 6.1 surround.
Right out of the box these speakers sounded fantastic. After many hours of listening and tuning they sound amazing. Low-to-mid volume levels is where they are most comfortable. They do okay at very high volume but clearly aren't designed to operate there, nor do I like listening to anything that loud. Being 2.5 way speakers they really must be paired with a sub if you want to hear any type of bass at all with music or movies. Television is just fine without a sub, however.
Value for Price - Better than anything else on the market
Sound Quality - Amazing at this price point
Appearance - They look great and are very well built
Power - Very good. Tight, clear, precise response at levels below extreme
My top priority for choosing B&W was music reproduction. A close second was movie performance. What I got was exact reproduction of sound regardless of source. What a deal. I couldn't be more pleased.

What's great about it: Bi-amp ability and clarity.
What's not so great: Without bi-amp, a little lacking in bass.
These were amazing right out of the box. Once I figured out how to bi-amp them (I have a Pioneer Elite SC-35), they really came alive. If you have the ability to bi-amp, these are truly amazing. The low-end comes alive.
If you do not have the ability to bi-amp, a subwoofer is probably required. These speakers take so much juice to run, most receivers won't be able to power them correctly without it. They will still sound great without the bi-amp (I didn't even do the bi-amp until 2 months in and didn't even think they could get better).
At low levels, I can hear everything perfectly and crisply. At high decibels, there is no distortion.

What's great about it: Crystal clear sound
What's not so great: come in a big box that is heavy? lol, these speakers are incredible whats not to like?
The cost doesn't represent the sound that comes out of these fantastic speakers. These speakers when coupled with the HTM61B and the RSW61STB will amaze the audiophile in all of us. I thought they sounded good in the store, but when I got them home and listened to them on low settings, wow is all I can say. Crystal clear sound I can actually hear what is going on in the movie without cranking the volume. totally recommend these speakers.

What's great about it: Great sound, Rock solid
What's not so great: Nothing for the price
After waiting more than a month for a set of speakers, made in Canada, that never came. I wanted to just go down, buy, and leave with my speakers. After auditioning a few sets. My ear kept calling me back to the B&W's. Owning Klipsch speakers for 17 years ( and I still say they are great speakers) I really like a bright speaker, but was tired of horns, and wanted a smoother sound. I am so happy those other speakers never came! Paired up with my Rotel RC-1550, Rotel RB-1552, and Onkyo Super Audio CD player. I have been listening to these things for over a month, and my jaw still hits the floor. Yeah, they may be built in China, but these are built the way B&W wants them. If they were not, I still probably would not be able to afford them. They are still designed in England. Don't let want to be audiophiles tell you these are not great sounding, well built speakers. Go down to Magnolia and listen for yourself.

What's great about it: Smooth and clear sound. Also looks great with the base.
What's not so great: Not that airy/smooth when turned up high.
I have had these as floor standing for two months now. I initially got the 683s but had to swap them out for these. 683s have fantastic sound stage but the midrange was too harsh for me and my ear levels were pointing to them at home. Also, 683s require much higher amplifier power it seems. However, what 683s have compared to 684 is the stability at high volumes. At higher volumes 684s start showing the strain.
In summary, I love the smooth sound of 684 and also has a very good bass. Given the dynamics of my room, the bass was a bit boomy...so I used the plugs that B&W gives to smooth it out. I am extremely happy with how these speakers sound.
For the price, these speakers were much more "clear" than other speakers. I also matched these with HTM62 and 686s. It is so critical to have the same series speakers for your 5 speakers especially if you want to listen to music (e.g. multi-channel stereo).
