What's not so great: it takes a while to load it
if you are used to the business and school life it's a necessity. we had one gifted to us so we returned ours, but it's well worth it.

I am used to the office product and it is very similar on a Mac. I am learning Mac OS X Lion and I don't need to learn another word processor or excel type of spread sheet program. It is just like PC version only better.

What's great about it: Provides everything for any student.
What's not so great: A lot of things in it that I don't need.
If you already know what Microsoft office has to provide for you and the tools at your disposal then there is really no explanation necessary for you, but for those of you who are new to the program their might be a large learning curve.
I have been using Microsoft office since I was in Middle School and am now a college graduate and have to say that it has been a necessity my entire life thus far. It provides enough tools for you to get through your typical graph creating, essay writing and power point creations for your typical student.
• Although the price is relatively high you have to consider what you are getting and for me the price is a small fee to pay for my success.
• The ease of use for me was very easy but I am very familiar with the layout. For someone who is new to it might have difficulties learning how to use it but after you learn it there is a lot of potential in the program.
• Usefulness is high for me. And I have always went to office to provide me with the utilities I needed for my success and most universities and companies utilizes office as their main program of choice for its simplicity and name.
• Ease of installation is normal for a program of its nature. There are so many different features included that I was not surprised of the time and interaction necessary for its install.

What's not so great: using a language that needs right to left, such as Hebrew or Arabic
if you have a mac but need to use microsoft office formats - word, excel, power point this is THE solution. Expensive, but then using a mac always is - you pay for quality

What's great about it: Nothing yet. I was a PC user prior to getting the IMac so still getting used to Mac differences.
What's not so great: See review regarding spreadsheet appearance
Excel on large IMac screen is frustratingly small and hard to read. Cannot figure out how to set larger spreadsheet image so fewer columns, fewer rows, and large font are the default. Also heard that the new Lion update messes this up. Can anyone confirm that from Best Buy or Apple???? May have been better of using the Mac office software. Now with the threat of the new update messing it up, I'm apprehensive about why I even got this software to begin with.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's not so great: Activation can be a pain
These copies of Office required activation through the Microsoft website, but I was unable to activate it, and when returning it for exchange could not find another copy in the store that would activate. Purchased it elsewhere with the activation code on the box, and had no problems.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

..if you have a new iMac or Macbook Pro. I bought this to install on each as I am a student and needed it. I love iWork, but it is a hassle to have to redo some borders and such when saving it as a word document.
THis product is terrible! While it does what it should, it does way more that it shouldn't! It made both computers run very slowly (on my Macbook it would show the loading cursor when opening any program or going to any internet page). I believe that it is what caused my Macbook to crash, mere months after it's purchase (August). I am very disappointed since you cannot return opened software, so this was a wasted $150.00 I recommend that you do not buy this if you want to not throw away your money and damage you mac. Once I uninstalled it, both computers began immediately running faster, though my Macbook never got back to it's original speed, and it crashed a few days later.
I recommend that you stick with iWork, and just buy a cable for presentations.

I wish I could give this product 5 stars, but I can't. Microsoft has gone overboard with their security, making this software nearly impossible to install. Others have said that they gave up and returned the product. I was having none of that. I wanted the upgrade from Office '04 and had no interest in iWork. I ended up having to return the box I got from BestBuy.com, exchanging it for one at the local store. I would have bought there in the first place had they had it in stock when I bought.
This issue was that Microsoft gives an activation code in the box, which you must go online to enter this code to get your product key. Somehow when the product is sold the seller must let Microsoft know that it has been sold so that the activation code can be activated. When I entered my code the web site stated that the code was not active and to return it to the store. Since I ordered on BB.com I called them and they told me to call MS. I called MS and they said to call BB. I told them I did and they opened a case to be escalated. After 8 days of follow up with MS they still could not flip the switch to make it active. That's when I returned it to BB locally and exchanged it for another box. The new package activated with no issue. Why did MS add this additional step?
Beyond install the software has been wonderful. I really like the ribbon, being able to customize it and close it as necessary is great. Upgrading from '04 I really noticed a speed difference since this runs natively in the Mac OS. I use the same files on a PC and I haven't run into any compatibility issues yet.
I haven't used it enough to give a thorough review, but suffusive to say, it was well worth upgrading from '04.
