What's great about it: Word, Excel, and Power Point
What's not so great: Outlook
Thought it would be like the Microsoft Office for Windows. Outlook is bit complicated, and have not been able to get the rules to work.

To start with the product key process is incredibly complex. I bought the software at Best Buy not online, the fact that the product key needs to go through a three step process to key the "real key" is beyond reasonable.
I have Entourage installed and need to transfer all files from my Entourage data. Only the contacts transferred, and even that was done with a lot of extra work (validating duplicates), I still have not been successful transferring all of the mail box data, and and can only send, but not receive emails. Likely have another couple of hours solving this problem.
The software has seat licenses for two boxes, our house has 4 boxes, this means I get to fork out another $200 for use within our house.
Microsoft continues to impress me with their ongoing release of buggy, premium priced software. They continue to be the embodiment of a large, unresponsive software vendor that lives off it's legacy.
Don't buy this, unless you absolutely need to have Outlook, and if that is the case make sure you install on a new box only, or full remove all of your data and previous version of MS before "upgrading," what a tremendous disappointment.

What's great about it: a few newer features
What's not so great: it wasn't written by Apple; need I say more?
If you need Word to remain compatible with your Windoze pals, this version is a step above the old one, but only just barely. While the new package provides Outlook instead of the old mail program, I don't use it and continue to receive my email on the Mac Mail program. It's easier to use. The enhancements in Word are not tremendous. It appears to continue its downward compatibility, and oddly enough, it doesn't make you uninstall the prior version before installing this version. I now have both versions but I'm working primarily from the new version now.
I send files from within Word because it packages them correctly and sends them in the form that a PC user can use. Sometimes sending just the file through Mac Mail creates an issue.

What's great about it: outlook
What's not so great: more difficult to use than dos version
I have both of the current versions of Office, one for my Toshiba and one for my Mac. I prefer the dos version to the Mac version. I purchased the home and business version for Mac to have outlook, and I like the features, but setting up my pop server accounts has proved daunting.

What's great about it: Read statement
What's not so great: Read statement
Microsoft refused to make the product backward compatible with Exchange Server 2003! I was not aware of this until after I bought and installed the product on my office computer. The information on the product package was not prominently displayed in readable print! After I installed the program I learned of this requirement. After searching the packaging with a magnifying glass I found the requirement displayed in extremely small print on the binding of the box mixed in with a number of other boilerplate statements! I am outraged at both Microsoft and Apple with respect to this issue. I had just purchased a new 27" I Mac and found I could not connect with my office e mail because Exchange Server on the new Mac required Exchange Server 2007 and my office was using Exchange Server 2003. As a result, I purchase the newly released Office Mac 2011. I had been waiting for this version to be released because I was having a number of problems with "Entourage" Office Mac 2008! I could not force my office to upgrade to Exchange Server 2007 just to solve my problem!!! Very Upset Mac/Office User
