What's great about it: The artists! This album lives up to its namesake.
What's not so great: Nothing.
Norah Jones has done it again. Her new album "Featuring" is amazing; her voice and talent evident as it weaves through a vast assortment of incredible artists. And with that, this album lives up to its namesake. In just one CD you'll find every genre, and every legend or legend in the making. The artists listed reads like an award show: The Little Willies; The Foo Fighters; Sean Bones; Willie Nelson; Sasha Dobson; Dirty Dozen Brass Band; El Madmo; Outkast; Q-Tip; Talib Kewli; Belle & Sebastian; Ray Charles; Gillian Welch & David Rawlings; Ryan Adams; Dolly Parton; Herbie Hancock; Charlie Hunter; and M. Ward.
An eclectic mix of the world today, Norah Jones hits it out of the park on this new album. My personal favorites are her collective accompaniments with Ryan Adams on "Dear John" and Dolly Parton with "Creepin In". You can listen to these as well as the CD on the Norah Jones official website. So if the sheer wealth of artistry didn't convince you to an immediate purchase, sit back and relax to preview the entire CD on her homepage. Also, take the time to view the video link located on the official website as well. It gives a great backstage pass on how each song came together.
Any artist can be lucky enough to produce hit songs. But few can create an album that can be listened to, where every song can become a favorite. "Featuring" does this, and that is where I find myself highly recommending it.

What's great about it: Fabulous range
What's not so great: too many duets
I always love Norah Jones but I would have liked to hear more of her and less of others. I can appreciate a duet but I don't want it to be the whole albumn. I think this showcased her large range and that is fabulous. Overall I think it is still a good albumn to add to your collection!

What's great about it: easy listening
What's not so great: not anything special
I received a preview sample of this CD through One2One and I was looking forward to hearing Nora stretch her style. I think the songs were less "Featuring Nora" and more Nora featuring various artists. She does stretch her style a little into the Country flavor, but not as much as I was hoping. The songs are good and basic in the beginning of the CD and at the end, but the rap in the middle would have made me stop listening if they were placed in the beginning of the CD list. Her duet with Willie Nelson ("Baby It's Cold Outside") was basic and not very original except for the fact that the thought of these two singers coming together in person and doing a music video for this song alternately throws me into hysterical laughter and screaming to have my mental eye poked out. I'm waiting for her to do a duet with someone edgy and with a range like Pink! "Here We Go Again" with Ray Charles is a classic and has been previously released. It's a keeper, but perhaps just as an .mp3. I'm not sure that it can carry the whole CD by itself.

What's great about it: music
I dont know if I am unusual or not, but when Im listening to new music, if the song doesnt catch my ear or pique my interest within the first 30 seconds, then the next track gets played. I dont know that's just me. And, I've always thought that most albums only had about 4-5 decent songs on them and the rest were just fillers. Well, when it comes to this album, I was proved wrong on both of accounts. There were just a handful of songs (out of 18) that just didnt do anything for me within the first 30 seconds and by far most of them are worth listening to. I especially enjoyed her songs with Ray Charles, Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson, but then again I'm an old school kind of guy. This is an album of duets sung throughout her career over the past 10 years. Some of these duets, particularly Love Me with The Little Willies, leaves you wishing they would cut an entire album together. Other duets, leave you just asking `Why?'.
I've been a fan of Norah for a long time, enjoying her unique voice and comittment to pure music and voice. These aren't just leftovers from her past albums or merely Starbuck songs you gently brush away as you grab your mocha. These are glimpses into Norah's music mind and her diverse ability to relate to other genre's thru her music.

What's great about it: geat singer and songs
What's not so great: the order of the mix
I received this CD, Featuring Norah Jones, from the One to One Network. I enjoy listening to Norah Jones and was excited at the prospect of hearing her sing with Ray Charles, Willie Nelson,Sasha Dobson, and others.
After listening to the CD I was a little disappointed. It was the mix of the songs or rather the order of the songs. Several songs have a mellow, easy listening style to enjoy with company over dinner. Then the style of music changes to Hip Hop. At the end of the CD, the music style changes back to mellow songs. I would like to play the mellow songs at dinner and the hip hop songs later.

What's not so great: Too many different music styles.
I received this CD to review from One2One Network. I have bought most of Nora Jones CD's in the past. I like her sultry voice. While I did like this album, there were too many different music styles combined on it. i prefer Norah when she is singing her jazzy blues.

What's great about it: the variety of easy listening music
What's not so great: not ideal to listen too all the time
I had no idea prior to listening to this album that Norah Jones has sang with so many others and such a range of genres as well. This is great for easy listening, not the type of CD I would listening to while driving in the car, but definitely a quiet, romantic evening at home with my husband. I look forward to sharing this with my husband along with some good chocolate a perfect evening.

What's great about it: Her voice
What's not so great: Too many different genres featured on the album
She has such a strong voice and this album is no exception. "Ruler of My Heart" with the Dirty Dozens band sounds like her usual style and I like the song a lot. I also liked "Life is Better" with Q-Tip, "Virgin Moon" with the Foo-Fighters, and the haunting song, "The Best Part" with her El Madmo band. There are some good songs on the cd, but overall, it feels a little bit too eclectic for me.

What's great about it: varied, diverse, fun
What's not so great: nothing
Norah Jones "Featuring" is a true smorgasbord for the senses. I've been a fan of Norah Jones' cool voice and jazzy pop stylings and was thrilled to see so many great collaborations of hers over the past decade with many of her favorite artists.
These collabs are so diverse that it truly makes for an exciting and fascinating album. I love the differing genres and the interpretations. I especially like the cover of Joni Mitchell's "Court and Spark" with the brilliant Herbie Hancock, which is moody and jazzy.
There is everything from rock (Foo Fighters, Ryan Adams) to hip-hop (Q-Tip, OutKast_ to country (Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson) to jazz (Herbie Hancock).
"It's so exciting and flattering and fun when I get asked to sing with somebody that I admire," Norah has said. "It takes you a little bit out of your comfort zone...kind of like being a little kid and having a playdate."
There are none I don't like and some I love! I love "Turn Them" with Sean Bones and its reggae feel. "Baby It's Cold Outside" is such a classic with Willie Nelson. It's such a great fit like a comfortable pair of worn-in-jeans. "Here We Go Again" with Ray Charles is playful and gorgeous. It surprised me that Norah was so natural with hip hop. She shines with Q-tip in "Life is Better" and with Talib Kewll.
This cd really has something for everyone. It's like a favorite mixtape and is great for driving or just lazing on a Sunday afternoon. "Featuring" shows off Norah's talent and charm, her versatility and her smoothness. It's eclectic, funky and fun.

Featuring Norah Jones is a compilation of duets and collaborations recorded between 2001-2010. I really enjoyed this album, which I received from One2One. It's always great to hear fine musicians working together, and the diversity showcased is impressive. Individual songs feature everyone from musical icons like Dolly Parton, Ray Charles, Willie Nelson and Herbie Hancock to younger musicians like Foo Fighters and Outkast.
Jones has a distinctive voice, and I appreciate her range and versatility. There's jazz, country, a bit of hip-hop, bluesy numbers, and creative reinterpretations of songs such as Court & Spark and Baby, It's Cold Outside. My favourite cuts so far are Loretta and Turn Them, lyrically strong with lovely instrumental backing. Well worth a listen.

Norah Jones' new release, "Featuring" includes such greats as Ray Charles, Foo Fighters, Outkast, and Dolly Parton. My favorites were "Love Me" (The Little Willies) - a bluesey ballad, "The Best Part" (El Madmo) - a haunting, soulful, and moody tune, "Here We Go Again" (Ray Charles) - Ray Charles, need I say more? and "More Than This" (Charlie Hunter) - a new take on the 80's favorite.
I would consider this album "easy listening." If you are looking for something more upbeat, I wouldn't recommend it. If you would a relaxing and unique compilation CD, this would be a great choice.
Thank you to One2One Network for sending me this CD to review.

What's great about it: It's Norah Jones!
What's not so great: It's Not Original
Being a fan of Norah Jones, when I was given the opportunity to review this album before it hit the stores, I was pretty excited.
When I received it, I immediately tucked into the packaging, popped it into my computer and imported the songs to my iPod.
I didn't want to get any ideas about the album before I received it, and just knew the basics: Norah Jones, collaborative songs.
I was disappointed when I realized all the songs sounded familiar, they've all been released before and there is no original music on the album, BUT, that didn't stop me from bobbing my head along with "Life Is Better" and "Take Off Your Cool".
The album is good, Norah Jones sounds great, as per usual. There was no real reach in this album, while the artists are as different as they come, there is no versatility in Norah Jones' performance, but it does showcase some of the collaborative artists' versatility for sure. "More Than This" is definitely a favorite of mine, along with the two I mentioned above. I didn't like ALL of the tracks, I found "Blue Bayou" to be pretty flat, and I've never liked any version of "Baby, It's Cold Outside" so that's certainly on my list of dislikes.
I would not have bought the album for myself, personally. But I'm thankful for the opportunity to review it, and look forward to listening to it occasionally, especially with the cold weather coming through. I could warm up with a few songs from this album on a frosty day.

What's great about it: A wide variety of musical styles!
Norah Jones continues to wow me as I was first introduced to her music a few years ago on a road trip with my dad. I was extremely excited to get to review this wonderful album through the One2One network. This CD is a definite must have for any music lover's collection. Norah Jones shows that she is as versatile as her beautiful vocals. Some highlights of this CD include her version of "Baby It's Cold Outside" with Willie Nelson and "Creepin' In" with Dolly Parton. My absolute favorite song on this track is "Blue Bayou." Whether you are an R&B fan or a Country fan there is something on this CD for everyone!

What's great about it: Succesful collaboration on blues, country, r&b, and folk
What's not so great: The rap collaboration detracts from the total effort.
I got this cd through One2One network, and am thankful for the privilege. This is an effective way to mix genres, some better than others. She shines on collaborations with country, 50's r&b, folk and blues. Where I feel that she falls flat is on rap. Overall I really like the cd and would recommend it to a friend. I was not disappointed, but would have appeciated the cd focusing on one genre, as opposed to several.

I was very excited to listen to Nora Jones’ new album “Featuring” when I got it. Although I think she is VERY talented, I had a little trouble getting through the album.
