What's great about it: The mega talent of musicians on the recording
I bought the CD awhile ago, but while at the Magnolia Center I saw this advertsied as a 5.1 Audio DVD along with the regular Stereo Mix CD.
Let me first say I was drawn to this because Steve Lukather is one of my favorite guitar players and I knew he was working this project with Lee Ritenour, but what blew me away were the new recordings of several songs I had heard before like Andy McKee's Drifting. On this recording Andy's beautiful percussive and fingerstyle playing is accompanied by Ritenour's lush guitar tones that float in the background. Guthrie Govain's Fives, featured on his Erotic Cakes release is now even more incredible with the addition of Vinnie Coaliuta on drums and Tal Wilkenfeld on bass. Joe Bonamassa is featured on the tune Am I Wrong where Bonamassa and band create an tune that in my opinion is an ode to Jeff Beck. The song 68 showcases the unmistakeable guitar tones of "Luke", Neal Schon and Slash as does the tune In Your Dreams. Other tunes featuring Keb Mo, Vince Gill, and some other unknowns selected by Ritenour from his Six String Theory contest bring this fantastic CD to a top selection im my collection. The 5.1 DVD Audio was incredible on my stereo system and brought out the full spectrum of sound that this recording could provide. Top Notch!!!!
