What's great about it: For the most part, easy to use, great screen clarity and navigation
What's not so great: Haven't figured out traffic help, gives out of the way routes a few times
I got this nuvi for Christmas from my husband. I'm quite surprised at all the features, and the screen clarity. I was able to set it up myself, and get going with it right away.
I love the actual pictures of mainline highway exits.
The voice activation commands are VERY easy to use, as the voice commands are listed on the screen so that you can quickly read what you want outload, and not have to memorize the list of commands, or go through some long explanation by the system.
I would recomend ordering a small carrying case for it - as the screen is made of glass, and I'm always afraid of cracking it.
This product has... Large/easy to see screen, Easy menus, Lifetime traffic, Free map updates

I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Form Factor, Quality, Functionality
What's not so great: Price, No 3D Traffic
This is a top notch GPS in terms of form and function. The form factor makes it very easy to take along in a pocket (it is extremely thin) and it is well-designed, looking almost like a flatter, slightly larger i-Phone. The Form also allows vertical positioning of the unit, which makes placement near an cramped A-Pillar easier. One convenient aspect of this unit (and most Garmins vs Tom Toms) is that the power cord attaches to the mount, not the GPS. This makes removing it and installing it much easier.
In terms of function, the screen is bright and legible, the voice is loud and clear, mapping inaccurate and start-up is as quick as others I've owned. The only operational issue I've noticed is that sometimes (this is infrequent) the screen is split in two in vertical mode, displaying half of two different pictures when approaching exits.
I have now owned over a dozen GPS and this ranks with the best. The downside is that much of the same functionality can be had for much less within Garmin's own line up (and other brands). If the best Traffic info is important for you and you like this unit's form factor, look at Garmin's equally priced and newer 3490---don't let the lower model number fool you, but the 3490 actually has better traffic info with Garmin's 3D Traffic as opposed to this unit's FM Traffic antenna. 3D traffic is more comprehensive. Lastly, I've now seen factory refurbished units at BB for $249 which is a very fair price for this unit (I paid $329 on Black Friday, down form $399 normal price).

What's great about it: Lifetime map and traffic updates, bluetooth, voice commands
What's not so great: Sometimes the menus take lots of steps to get back to the main screen
This is my first GPS, so I don't have anything to compare it to; however, I am very happy with it. It has all of the features I wanted such as lifetime traffic & map updates, bluetooth, lots of room for favorites, voice commands, and more. I was also able to download some new voices and cars. My young son loves the Spongebob voice!
I like how the normal voices will announce the street names as well as the direction to turn. It makes it easier to know for sure where to turn. It's a great unit,

What's great about it: Speaker on mount, mount does not vibrate since unit is light, unit goes to sleep mode once you turn off your car
What's not so great: Carpool is not taken account for fastest route nor picks up traffic on Carpool
I purchased this GPS to replace my TOMTOM which had battery issues and so far I like it. I drive over 100 miles per day so traffic and map updates are very important to me- since I live in LA. Voice commands work “okay” but do not work well with numbers and you need to have all back noise off- including wind. My only issue is this GPS does not pick up traffic on Carpool nor does it use Carpool as part of the fastest route- I drive a NGV and have carpool stickers (valid till 2015). I contacted Garmin about this and they stated there is no way to have the unit use the carpool route, even if the option under “avoidance” is not checked in preference. You can edit the route the GPS creates for you by using advance detour option, but carpool is not an option in there either.
Also, I loaded 980 CNG fueling stations in the SD card and there is no delay or freezing when I use them- love that because I had a freezing/ delay issue with TomTom when I added 100 locations.

What's great about it: Beautiful bright display
What's not so great: Fingerprints on display.
Pros: beautiful touch screen letting you zoom in and out with finger pinching. Free map updates for life.
Cons: Sometimes its very slow to locate satellites for new locations. Creating a customize route is very cumbersome, can't change the default route it creates for you.
No GPS is perfect but I have been pretty happy overall with this one. Would be nice to simply edit the routes it creates for you but I haven't been able to find any way to do that outside of trip planner.

What's great about it: Easy of use and bright screen
What's not so great: Voice activation works a little too well
I bought this Garmin as an upgrade to my old Nuvi. So far I am very pleased with it. It is very lightweight and slim, so it fits easily in my jacket pocket or laptop bag. The firmware is also very intuitive and easy to maneuver. I was skeptical that the glossy screen would reflect sunlight and be very hard to see, however, it is just the opposite. It is very clear in any light and is nice and bright. My only complaint is the voice activation...it will activate randomly when talking to a passenger or having a phone conversation. I finally just deactivated it.

Upgraded from my 5 yr old TomTom and decided to try a Garmin. Garmin had nice features but it was not as good at navigating as TomTom.... Terrible at recalculating a route. POI's don't show on map....I prefer TomTom and returned the Garimin a week later for a much cheaper TomTom and am very happy.

What's great about it: Appearance.
What's not so great: Function.
After reading all the reviews from the various manufacturers, the 3790LMT had the features I was looking for, however, even after downloading all of the map updates, 9 times out of 10, it would send me on wild goose chases through town instead of taking the highway that had no traffic on it, direct me down dead end roads, turn around and come back out, send me on scenic tours of residential areas when I can see my destination a few blocks away. To say that I am unimpressed would be an understatement. If you're looking for a GPS, look elsewhere. The same can be said for door stops. They're cheaper in the hardware store.
