What's great about it: 3D looks really nice!
I bought this mainly for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D and Super Mario 3D Land. But a game I play more than both of those is Colors 3D available in the Nintendoshop for only $6.99. I've owned this and a PSP and this definitely seems to be the better handheld. Absolutely love it! Well worth the $169.99.

What's great about it: 3D is real, streamlined user interface, analog slider control, widescreen display, online, AR & 3D cameras, graphics
What's not so great: less than moderate battery, some uncomfortable control styles
Despite the fact that the Nintendo 3DS bears close resemblance of the past DS hardware, it's a completely new console built from the ground up. Other than the stunning 3D effect, the most noticeable feature upon turning it on is the system's interface: visually streamlined and easy to navigate. The home menu itself is a really nice feature as you can access it by pressing the home button at anytime in order to quickly switch to another application, friends list, note pad, and even an internet browser, all while your game is still running. The preloaded applications built into the system are not spectacular, but they do help with getting acquainted with features like 3D camera, gyroscope controls, online interactivity, and the 3D effect itself, and they're actually pretty fun to play around with. The 3DS comes with a pack of AR cards that the 3D cameras recognize to summon virtual characters onto the screen of the cameras' view when you take pictures. Internet capabilities seem to be much more involved than those of the past DS consoles; there's a whole lot more that can be done with the internet: videos, apps, messaging, updates, notifications, and... only ONE friend code: you just have a friend code for the device and not a separate one for each and every game - makes online interaction much easier. The 3DS actually can use internet while in sleep mode, so downloads and updates can be passively applied. Most importantly, the games run great. Visuals are very impressive for a handheld and the 3D effect is very dynamic and integrated differently for each game yet I never had a problem with eye strain. The only time I would turn off the 3D would be while using gyroscopic controls because the motion of the Nintendo 3DS tends to disrupt the 3D viewing angle occasionally. The controls for most games are usually very simple, but sometimes I find myself frustrated to find the most comfortable control scheme. The 3DS does play both 3DS games and regular DS games, with an option to play in native DS resolution because the top screen of the 3DS is 16:9 widescreen as opposed to the previous standard 4:3. The hardware looks very delicate but it feels very durable in my hand. The battery is not significantly lacking in capacity but I suppose the maximum you can play at once is 4.5 hours with all extra features turned off. There is a power saving mode and the included dock charger makes charging really easy. I never had an issue with running low on battery. Considering how well the system performs overall and the great library of games, the Nintendo 3DS is worth buying.

What's great about it: Oh...the 3-D Graphics for sure
What's not so great: Short battery life.
The battery life sucks. Plain and simple...it sucks. I would give this a 5 if it was not for that. I would use another word, but there really isn't one that describes how bad it is. It is a basic word that gets the complete feeling across.
I would not recommend this to a friend because my friends are serious gamers, as am I, and I would never tell them to buy something that would just die on them in the middle of a game.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I love this Nintendo 3Ds! The 3D is so crazy. I cannot believe that you do not need glasses for the screen; Blows my mind away. The black looks so nice. The Internet on the 3Ds is fast. The applications that you can get for the 3Ds are awesome as well. However, it will receive finger prints due to the shine. The finger prints are not as bad as the ones the Ds Light obtained, great product.

This was a gift from my youngest daughter to my 2nd youngest daughter. My youngest daughter broke her sister's DSi and "asked" Santa to bring her sister to replace the DSi she broke and offered to get one less gift. This absolutley broke my heart so "Santa" got it for her. They both cried when it was opened and have been playing it every since. My youngest has the DSi XL but loves to play her sister's DSi 3D instead. Might need to buy another one soon. Quality is excellent, what you would expect from Nintento. Graphics are as good as can be expected. Bottom line is the kids love it!

What's not so great: Game prices are a little much
We purchased as a gift/reward for my son and he loves it. His sister has a DSLite and they can play games together, so it has been nice for them.
The capabilities are nice, and it keeps them off my iPod touch. Ha.
All in all, it is a great handheld and is holding up to it's 7 year old owner.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my child and it is loved and played with often. The fact that you can play the old games on it is an awesome feature. The 3D turns off if the child wants to turn it off. Super cool invention.

I purchased this 3DS for my 4 year old granddaughter, it was easy to initially set up and since a 4 year old uses it, I have had to go back from the beginning more than once, I have used the internet option several times with great success.

I got this portable about a year after it came out, and I'm glad I did. There's so many more games available, and the eShop is up and running online. Many cheap games available for download, including 3d. The Netflix app is free, so I use it all the time at home.
The 3D really works, but you have to keep the portable somewhat steady to keep it from unfocusing. The depth and quality of the 3d depends on the game, since they vary greatly. The game Cubic Ninja barely makes use of 3d, but the old remake Kirby's Adventure looks so beautiful.
I wish they make movies availabe in 3d in the future, for a decent price. I'm not gonna rent a 5.99 movie, ever.
Nintendo makes clips available in 3d for free, from third parties, and some of them look great.
The 3d pops in, not out like in the theaters.

My son loves his 3DS and being as he had a DSi beforehand he had a lot of games and accessories that will continue to work with his 3DS. System overall is good but he complains that it will not open all the way without hitting the top buttons with the Nerf Armour on it. Outside of that no complaints so far.

Overall this device is pretty cool. I do like the Black finish. I love the analog stick which is a long needed feature on the DS. It seems to function very well and feels quite durable. The 3D feature is very cool I just wish it had a wider range of view since if you look just off (like if your playing in a moving car) it'll cause some distortion in the 3D effect.
Otherwise for this lower price its a great device. The original asking price for 300 was way too much. The 3d camera is eh on this I would have preferred other features then another camera.

What's great about it: Easy to setup
My boys are 7 and 9 and only has this since Christmas (2011) but so far so good. They love it. The 3D part is adjustable, that is a nice feature. It had too much 3D for my eyes and I adjusted it to be not so 3D. Lots of features that my boys haven't even tried yet! Still just playing the basics.
