What's great about it: I don't know
What's not so great: Best Buy failed us
Although we spent an hour setting up the order, spent two days waiting for the item to show up at the store, and spent another visit setting up the installation, we couldn't complete the purchase because Best Buy didn't have the parts to do the install or the knowledge to understand the installation. We cancelled the purchase and made other arrangements.
This product has... impossible to install apparently, i'll never go back to best buy

What's great about it: The GPS is good.
What's not so great: Doesn't show album art from CD's.
This is my second unit as the first one was defective. The second one doesn't show album art from CDs. It doesn't show USB images. I do not like this unit and wish I had not purchased it. If anyone wants to buy it, I am selling it got the low. It sounds great on my Bose system.

Bought unit because I thought it had great gps system and interfaced easily with my phone. I am happy with gps. I am not happy with the units abilit to interact with my phone. I have an iPhone and, while the Bluetooth works for calls, it is very limited in its other interfaces. For example, it does not synchronize my contacts, it also does not stream music from my phone. It apparently only works with android phones. Finally, the Bluetooth on the unit only interfaces with one phone at a time. Because of the Bluetooth interface issues, I am living with cords to connect to my iPhone to play music

What's great about it: Pretty
What's not so great: no frontal audio in (you must access it from the back)
I have this in my Cobra. It's pretty. I hooked the inputs in my glove compartment, but as I don't like I phones I use only the audio input. Easy to use, pricey, and I also wish blue tooth worked for streaming audio. Not Excellent but pretty good.

What's great about it: Bluetooth, garmin navigation
Despite all the bad reviews my heart was still set on this Kenwood in-dash navigation system for my '01 Lexus IS 300. I chose a kenwood because I mainly wanted this for the in-dash navigation and Kenwood is the only brand powered by Garmin which in my opinion is the best navigation out there. I have not had problems with the bluetooth at all in fact this is one of the best features. I didnt know i would like the bluetooth feature but i actually love it, it came with a mic which i did not know of; my callers say they here me so clearly, where as before people couldnt here me as well because i have a pretty loud car to begin with. I read reviews that the system is slow, and yes it is slower than what most is use to. It's not fast like an i-Phone or i-Pad. It's like buying any brand of a tablet other than the i-Pad and comparing it to the i-Pad, it's going to run slower than the i-Pad (I know this from personal experience lol). The slowness really doesn't bother me because I am use to it from having a portable Garmin navi which is a bit slowish as well. I bought my system at Best Buy but had a friend install it for me who does professional installations at a local store. Best Buy was charging too much for installations and told me I needed to buy a harness which would cost me $100 plus a kit for $20. My friend said all I need is the kit for $20 and I don't need all new harnesses you can actually just do a rewire which he did! He saved me a lot of money, so please know u may not need new harnesses just a rewire!

GOOD: Built in Garmin Nav works very well. Audio sounds much better than the stock unit. Audio adjustments are nice. Bluetooth works well. Several display colors to choose from to match your dash. Menus are easy to use. Didn't need to read the manual. RDS is a nice feature on the tuner. This displays information that is hidden about the songs and stations.
BAD: Why are there buttons above and below the volume knob? It is a touch screen. Screen being the key word. Keep the volume knob loose the buttons next time. No remote control. Pay extra. No HD radio. Pay extra. The Disc mech is a little tough when loading and removing discs.
As you will find, there is no perfect in dash unit. Whats the best? The most expensive. The trick is to find the middle of the road that has what you will use. Why pay for features that are not going to be used? This is a great unit for the money. I installed it myself. Fits well in my Explorer. It is a little time consuming.

What's great about it: lots of features
What's not so great: slowness
Trying to switch between functions is not something to attempt while driving. The phone settings are small so you have to pull over to make calls, or activate the voice dial/call feature. The unit seems slow like an old computer on dial up... Could be much faster. Overall I am impressed with the unit, but it could be better... especially for $900.

What's great about it: Great sound quality, fixed face front load cd/dvd, Garmin GPS
What's not so great: No Bluetooth audio streaming, slow touchscreen response
Overall this is not a bad unit but it does not live up to it's predecessor, the 6140. I have yet to experience the lock-ups I hear so much about, it is a little slow responding to touch input, but the lack of Bluetooth audio streaming should cost somebody a job at Kenwood! It is available on the 7 series and even the 5 series, but has been removed from the 6's. I won't buy a motorized face unit so the 7 is out and I don't want to step down so this may be my last Kenwood if this problem is not corrected. Had I noticed in time I definitely would have returned it for something else but it was over a month after purchase that I finally installed it.
Otherwise the unit is OK, and the sound is top notch as is usually the case with Kenwood and the Garmin GPS is best in class (and IS updateable by DVD despite what other reviewers have said).

What's great about it: it plays cd's just fine
What's not so great: SUPER SLOW
This is the worst Radio i ever bought! I have always loved Kenwood. here is why you should save your money
1) the unit is V E E E E R R Y Y Y slow. honestly i read a reveiw that said that before i bought it but i figured ehhh its not that bad. Seriously it terrible once you connect your ipod. i think the TOC that it builds for the ipod overflows the Ram on the device.
2) Always Crashes and reboots. atleast twice a week this will jsut simply freeze.. lockup.. and then reboot itself.
3) a message will actually come up that looks like windows saying it ran out of memory.
4) the gps is So slow that it tells me tolate . yo have to be watching the screen to get your turns ontime
5) the gps maps are not updateable on this one because it has no SD Slot
Save your money

What's great about it: Sound and equalization controls
What's not so great: Droid pairing features limited, finicky touch screen
The features available when pairing to my Droid are very limited. That is, when it is paired. I sometimes have to re-pair them. Can take ten minutes before I can even use the keypad on the display to make a call, and just as long for my contacts to show up. Not good when a cross town trip only takes about 15 minutes. Can't do bluetooth streaming (even my factory radio can do that). Can't store favorite songs and artists in Sirius (again, factory radio can). The touch display is finicky... often I'll press a "key," it'll turn blue to acknowledge it has been pressed but it won't enter it. The display is still awful bright at night, even when turned all the way down. Sound is very good and equalization works well. I just replaced the vehicle this was in and didn't even look at Kenwood for my new one.

What's great about it: Nothing
What's not so great: Looks good when its off
I bought this unit to replace a factory radio. It looked good at the store, but once it was installed in my SUV, I wish I had the factory radio back. The radio looses the signal, the nav is hard to read, and the touch controls are way to sensitive. I'm thinking of having my old radio put back in and selling this one. With all the extras you have to buy this purchase is going to cost you way over a grand.

What's great about it: Built in Navigation
What's not so great: No bluetooth streaming audio, no remote.
I would assume that a $800.00 head unit would at least come with a remote control and it doesn't.That is really lame! Also for the price it should have bluetooth audio streaming, which I also assumed it had. The touch screen is either not responsive enough or too responsive at times. The built in Navigation is really good though. I hooked up a 250 GB hard drive through the USB port with all my music and videos which I enjoy, but it would be better to operate with a remote.

What's great about it: Feature packed, and has played every file format I've thown at it!
What's not so great: Would have liked a SD slot?
Kenwood has done it again! I've always been a Kenwood fan but they have really raised the bar with the DNX6180. I was also looking at the DNX6980 which has the micro-SD slot, but Since the 6180 has a USB interface I paired it up with a 256Gigabyte USB Flash Drive and I was good to go. I also picked up the KTC-HR300 HD Radio Tuner, it works like a champ! Paired everything up with 6 speakers from JL Audio's Evolution line, and all I can say is WOW! For under $2k I have one kick butt system. The best money I've spent in a long time. Now I love the morning commute:)
The first reviewer commented on the units speed, there are times when it lags a little. Usually happens when switching between major functions, like when switching between a CD and looking at your contact list from you BT phone. But it's not bad at all! But I guess we all want everything to be instant these days?
If you've got a G to drop on a very nice head unit this will not disappoint. Highly recommended!

What's great about it: has it all, dvd/gps/bluetooth
What's not so great: Capt. Slowsky
I was torn between several models but chose this because it had everything included i wanted. it has a great picture for dvd watching, the gps is accurate and very easy to use, bluetooth connects and syncs my phone and full contact list, and usb in for my micro sd card. the only complaint i have is the device is relatively slow when responding to any action.
