What's great about it: very portable, no loose DVDs
What's not so great: use generic screen protector and travel case
MY 6 YO grand-daughter loves this thing. Plays her Barbie & Disney movies I ripped to the 16GB SD card I bought to go with this. Plays music and stores photos too. Keeps her occupied on those long, and not so long car trips. Just make sure you have headphones as speakers can be loud.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Compact, good price
What's not so great: None so far
I bought this for my 3 year old daugther and it is great for watching movies. We haven't used it for anything else. I bought a 16G card and was able to put 15 movies on it! Very compact with no CDs to carry and a lot cheaper than buying a ipad or ipod just to watch a movie. This works great for trips on the airplane or in a restaurant!!
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Cost to Feature!! Value for Money product
What's not so great: Some minor usability things
Goods:

Minor Bads:
1. 3.5 mm Headphone jack connections not so good.
2. Color should be bit dark coz handling makes the color fade
3. Color Coding of the AV cable dosnt matches. still trying to connect to LCD with Red, Yello and White color codes compared to the Red, Green and Blue code of cable
4. Heats up after use of 15-20 mins
5. No Touch screen

What's great about it: Its ok if you know what you are doing.
What's not so great: . But even with instructions I could not load a movie or video
If you don't know how to use it don't buy it. Could not load any video
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: Video Quality, Ease of Operation
What's not so great: Battery life could be a bit longer, for coast to coast flights
After owning the Cinepal for about a month now, I spent a great deal of time fiddling around to try and find the perfect movie format and size to create a DVD quality output....I finally found it. This output will not only create a very sharp video that is perfect in proportion to the original DVD with correctly synchronized video with audio, but also creates an output file of slightly less that 1g, permitting you to put many movies on one SD card. I have a 32g SD card inserted into mine and already have 28 movies stored with room for about 4 more.

1. Use Handbrake. This is a free download, available in both the Windows and Mac formats. It is totally freeware.
2. Change the output from MP4 to MKV. There are only two choices in the toggle....so choose MKV.
3. Access the "Picture Settings" from the toolbar at the top of the screen. Change the two output settings on the far left of the screen to Width: 720. Height will set itself automatically to retain aspect proportionality. Choose "None" below these numbers.(Anamorphic settings). All other numbers will set themselves automatically. Be sure to check the box that refers to keeping the same aspect ratio. That's all there is to it! Load the resulting file into the Cinepal and you are good to go.
4. In the settings on the Cinepal, choose "Original."

What's great about it: The multi video format and 720P resolution support
What's not so great: the instruction manual but the buttons are easy to navigate
I purchased this media player for my wife to give her something to do while waiting on the kids and my kids use it on long car rides. It supports pretty much all the major video formats like Dvix and AVI compressions. The other features like photo and music aren't use as much. I typically load all the converted movie files onto a thumb drive instead of loading into internal memory or using SD cards. It's light weight, easy to carry, supports 720P res, and makes a great alternative to portable dvd player. No need to lug around cd or dvds. The batterylife is about 2 full length movies so it's adequate for long car rides or on a plane. Dont mistake this product for a touch screen tablet...it's simply a media player that is easy to use and could replace your portable dvd player.

What's great about it: Large Screen with Crisp Video's
What's not so great: Would like to have a travel accessory case for it.
I purchased the Aluratek Cinepal HD Media Player because I travel alot and was looking for an affordable device with a long batterly life to play my digital movies. This is the perfect solution for that with the High Definition Screen (8") and robust video support. This thing will play pretty much any video format that's available and has a 5 hour battery life perfect for cross country trips. (I was tired of my laptop battery dying half way into my flight.)
This is a great portable DVD replacement as well so no more loading up and bringing multible DVD's. Just load them onto an SD Card or directly onto the internal memory (4GB included which is good for about 4 movies). I have an 8GB Card which will give me another 10 movies so plenty.
I have also used this instead of buying a second Blu-Ray player for my upstairs loft. You can download Hi-Def movies and connect to you HDTV and watch in High Definition. Overall I'm extremely happy with this product and can't beleive the price. Definitely worth it. Hope this helps.
