What's great about it: Picture
What's not so great: Flickering problem which apparently is common
bought this tv in 2010 and have loved it up until a few months ago when the screen started to flicker badly. checked with Samsung and they say there is nothing they can do. Looking online there has been recalls for Samsung tvs with the same problem in all sizes. They told me my model does not have a recall. A tv should last longer than two years. I will never buy a Samsung again

What's great about it: picture, price
for under $1100, cant be beat. Picture is better than LEDs that cost a thousand more. Hook up HMDI cords to laptop, Xbox, Cable....everything comes in perfect. Sound output through AUX cord to my Logitech z-5500 computer speakers, perfect sound. All in all, great buy.

What's great about it: Everything.
What's not so great: You have to know how to calibrate it optimally.
What a steal. I didn't want 3D, and LED is a waste of money unless you just really, really like the idea of a thinner TV. I was looking for a quality LCD above 50" for my living room. I already owned a Samsung 40" LCD 120 hz TV from when they first came out, and that TV is still as good as new and has now been moved to my bedroom. I also own a Sony Bravia 40" LCD 120 hz TV that I've been very happy with, so those two brands were my preferences. There is no reason to buy anything above 120 hz because the eye can't even process images that quickly, but there is a noticeable difference between 60 hz and 120 hz. Enter this TV. "Refurbished" is not a scary word, it's a secret few know about. There's not a scratch on it or a thing wrong with it. At 55", it's a monster, and yet the picture quality is spectacular. It does take some adjustments, though. The MotionPlus feature is a matter of preference, as it will show you what I referenced earlier about the limits to what eyes can process. When turned on, it looks skippy even though it's not, as your eyes can't keep up. I turned it off, tweaked some of the other settings, and it's perfect. Samsung has made the TV very customizable, so you CAN get it the way you like it even if doesn't come that way. I suspect this is why it was returned and "refurbished" in the first place. Their loss is my gain. If you know what you're doing, this is a gem, and if you don't , just have someone professionally calibrate it for you. The sound is good, and the only feature it really lacks is wireless access, but just plug in the internet and you'll get a stronger connection anyway. I'm glad I got this when I did, because it's apparently sold out online now. Go order it in-store while you still can. This kind of deal is impossible to beat.
