What's great about it: Build quality, GUI, sound quality
What's not so great: sounds can be a but harsh sometimes
This is a great receiver, which is why is has a perfect score on here. I brought mine from somewhere else for $300 bucks new! Well worth the price. I replaced my rx-v465 which was also an exceptional product. I got this mainly for the 1.4 HMDI/3D capability, but was please with the increase in sound quality. Also love on the on screen menu system (GUI), much easier to use than the old LCD screen menu on my previous Yamaha.
The only negative is that the trebbe and bass seem out of phase sometimes. Its hard to explain, but its only during certain programs, movies, or songs. I did have to raise the bass to +3.0 and put the treble to 1.0 which solved some of the harshness that occurs. However, that being said this is a great receiver especially for the price.

What's great about it: Lots of power, great sound, very easy set up
What's not so great: Needs more bass
I purchased this receiver to replace an aging Onkoy TX-SV646. I have always owned Onkoy receivers, but based on reviews and research of there current products and issues with quality, I decided to purchase the RX-V571. Wow what a difference. The set up was very easy. The sound quality and surround sound decoders are very impressive. I have the receiver hooked up to a Pioneer center speaker (SP-C21), Pioneer (SP-FS-51) floor speakers, Bose 201 rear speakers, Vizo 47 inch flat screen, LG Blue Ray, Sony powered sub, and Directv. HDMI switching and pass through works with out a flaw. The power is great and drives the speakers to very loud level without distortion, but could use more bass. Get one before there gone.

What's great about it: Best quality, easy setp up, clear and natural sound even using analog connection,
What's not so great: More treble than bass
I have this one a while there is no problem at all . I bought Pioneer and returned and pick up this one and keep it. Best natural and life sound good to set up with Karaoke mixer for singing and dancing.

What's great about it: Many features at a low price
What's not so great: You need to use the remote and onscreen menu instead of the panel controls to access all features.
I use this in a 7.1 surround home theater with a 3D projector. The sound equalization tools are very easy to use and make a big difference. Hooking up different sources is simple and the flexibility of multiple HDMI inputs with a single output make hooking up to a projector simple. Sound quality is very good and there is plenty of volume to fill a large room (I also use a 150 Watt subwoofer). The onscreen menus are useful and easy to navigate.

What's great about it: Easy to set up and use!
What's not so great: Nothing so far.
I'm not an electronic geek - actually know very little - just want to watch my plasma with surround sound. About 5 years ago American oversold us on a $800 Denon which we had nothing but problems with. Didn't know if it was the Denon or we just didn't know what we were doing, but when one of my great-nephews came over and touched it - it would take us 2 weeks to get sound again. Just think a receiver should be much more user friendly. Purchased this Yamaha and husband wouldn't let me set up before the superbowl (lots of faith in me..#. The most time consuming part was attaching 14 speaker wires.. Then, turned it on and the dang thing just worked - just like that! Very, very easy - just need to know where you plugged in all components #hdmi 2, av 5, etc) and you're good to go. Just took a few more minutes to reprogram the Harmony remote and we're back in business! Great sound and easy to use.

I love the sound that comes out of this Yamaha receiver. Movies on Dvd, music on cds, xbox games, and you can plug your ipod right into the front. Easy set up and hdmi heaven.

What's great about it: everything, power, selection of movie modes and simplicity of operation
What's not so great: you must go into differnt screens to adjust levels, best to put movie on pause then adjust levels
This amp actually thinks for you! Set-up is very easy, sound quality is unbelievable. Movie DTS and Dolby modes offer a superior selection of soundfields. Not only do movies have a better overall feel, but music sounds excellent also. This amp is a joy to use. I added a Nintendo Wii, (I'm 64 years old) and surround sound games are a blast!
I would recommend this to a friend!
