SynopsisThe long-awaited and much-anticipated next installment of the award-winning The Elder Scrolls franchise is here. Now, the expansive, open world that forever revolutionized the face of the fantasy epic leads you deeper into the combat, the magic and the myth than you've ever been before. This time, you don't just play as a character, you truly become whomever it is you wish to be — and have the freedom to do anything you can possibly imagine. This follow-up to the 2006 Game of the Year, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, offers stunning graphics and a gripping storyline that immerses you in the game from the moment you turn it on. Are you ready to unroll the Scroll and let the journey begin? Imagine rolling clouds, rugged mountains, bustling cities, lush fields and crumbling dungeons. Imagine ancient dragons beholding secrets so powerful they could transform your future. Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim immerses you in the engrossing world of the franchise you already know and love with more realism, more choice and more intensity than ever before. Featuring a new game engine that brings every tiny environmental aspect to life in blistering detail and AI that brings you close to your allies — and your enemies — Skyrim blurs the line between your world and that of the game. An all-new character engine opens wider an already vast virtual world, putting every decision, every action and every consequence entirely in your hands as you arm yourself with hundreds of new weapons, abilities and spells. Developed by Bethesda Game Studios, the creators of the 2008 Game of the Year, Fallout 3, this immaculate fifth chapter challenges your skills, immerses your mind and will forever change the way you view gaming. It's time to return. It's time for Skyrim.

What's great about it: Almost everything else
What's not so great: Story length, story impact.
Pros:
-Great graphics
-Open world
-Huge map
-A ton of quest and side-quest
-Modding that is only limited by your imagination of the world
-Engaging story
-Some moments that can only be described as Epic.
-The patches seem to be improving game preformance and playability
-I heard they where releasing DLC
-Werewolves are back
-So many weapons and skills to improve.
-The class system is smoother and completely customizable.
Cons:
-The story is too short only 23 -30 hours and that is if you take your time
-The story does not impact the world as it did in the previous versions.
Conclusion:
The soundtrack, story, characters, emersion factor, which is you feel attached to the world, was all much greater in Morrowind, but in this one is it just lacking something. This game is still a good game, but I was looking for the Morrowind feel like I got years ago in 2006 when I bought it. I felt that the world in Morrowind was real, I felt like I worked for the skills I earned, and I felt like my blood, sweat, and tears went into Morrowind. I believe I spent close to 80 hours finishing the main story on Morrowind, but it was worth every hour to finish the epic story. Compared to Morrowind's story this game is below Morrowind standards, but it is still worthy of the title Elder Scrolls. The game is not done, there are still exspansion that could be made and this game could end up being as good or better then its predicessors, but until then is gets only 4/5 from me.
Story .............................................. 3/5 (too short and not enough impact#
graphics........................ 5/5 #with a potential to be higher with modding#
Gameplay .............5/5 #Great combat system with slight improvements#
Engine...............4.8/5 #It has come a long way from the release issues)

What's great about it: Graphics, content, interactivity, depth of storylines
The amount of detail, thought and planning that went into every decision you can make, and how the world reacts to your choices not only in conversations and on quests, but your impromptu decisions about taking out an NPC, or your race choice, is just insane. I have no idea how they managed to fit such dense sub-plots into every corner of the game! Also, the graphics are just nuts. Water running down over some rocks, shimmers like water, this is not cartoon-land! There's no way to describe the difference between this game and your ever-popular MMO's out there right now. This is a must-play!

What's great about it: Very fun, looks great, story goes on and on.
What's not so great: Too easy after you reach a high level.
Great game, great story. There is so much to do. Love, love, love this game. With that said, it does get old after 70+ hours of play time, i dont even want to finish my character, as the game is no challenge anymore. Dont let that scare you away, as i havent even been doing the main quest. Just like 100+ side missions.
Lots of mods to add to the visuals, as well. GET SKYRIM NOW!!!

What's great about it: Huge game world.
What's not so great: Eats several hours a day of my life.
This game has provided many hours of entertainment for me. The freedom to travel just about anywhere in a huge game world is a real highlight. Bugs in gameplay are being addressed by the developer via patches (seems to be the norm with AAA PC titles lately) and are not gamebreakers at all. Be prepared for literally hundreds of hours of enjoyable gameplay. Bravo.

This completely immersive game sucked me in from the opening cut scene and held me captivated through the endgame...only to find that that wasn't even really the end: I could keep on playing! These guys have hit it out of the park with the great cinematics, awesome story and solid game mechanics.

What's great about it: Storyline, graphics
Very impressed with the care given in developing this game. You can really get lost in the environments and the action is heart-pounding. (Never get tired of the slo-mo, coup de grâce cut scenes!) Having played most of the series, this game builds on the solid foundation established by previous titles while becoming its own unique experience. Great gameplay mechanics and immersive storyline... highly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of the genre!

What's great about it: Awesome graphics. You can go anywhere you like in the game. Great storyline. Worth the price.
What's not so great: Min. hardware req. listed on game only plays at lowest settings. Must have higher end graphics hardware to fully enjoy.
Skyrim is just the best video game I have ever played. The graphics and storyline are beyond awesome. Beware though. To experience the highest graphics settings, Ultra, you will need a serious graphics card to run Skyrim at the highest settings. Luckily, I was in the market for a new laptop. I had to send one HP dv7 laptop back because it only ran it am Medium even though I bought the top discrete graphics card they offered. I eventually bought an Asus G74SX-AH1 with the 3Gb Nvidia GeForce GTX560M card for about $1440, two hundred dollars more than the HP. I learned the hard way to always know the model number of the graphics card and specifically look up if it can play the newest game before purchase. Higher graphics card model numbers DO NOT mean that they have higher capability. I found this link useful to compare high end graphics cards: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html
I had to look around to find a laptop within my budget that could play Skyrim on its highest graphics settings. Finding a capable desktop would have been easier since most laptop graphics cards are part of their motherboard and not upgradeable later. You must have higher end hardware to play Skyrim at its full potential. The scenery is just beautiful. I'm hooked.

What's great about it: EVERYTHING
What's not so great: Yet to find it
As someone who has played all TES games in the series I can confidently say this game exceeds expecatations. Game play is easy and flawless. Unlike some that I've read thru other gameboards having problems, the same has not held true for me. No crashes but has locked up twice during play. The storyline is great in the main quest and there are lots of side job/quests to fill hours of entertaining adventures. The new game engine is good too. Better still is the improvement in the graphics and to a lesser degree the background soundtrack. Bethesda has outdone itself with Skyrim far exceeding its Oblivion successes. And winning game of the year from PC Gamer, VGA's, etc is proof that this game is the best one to come out in years. A true masterpiece! If you like exciting and a plethora of storylines to follow this is the game for you.

What's great about it: Overall it was a great game.
What's not so great: A little glitchy at times.
This is one of the best games I have ever played. Comparing with "Oblivion" this one is so much greater. There are both newer and fewer skills than "Oblivion" and the level up process is more like the most recent "Fallout" games. However, the depth that the skills give you is amazing. For instance, in the previous "Elder Scrolls" games, you had the armorer skill. In this game, you have the smithing skill, which in my opinion is so much better since it allows you to actually create and upgrade your weapons and armor.
There are infinite quest generators for most of the guilds in the game, the only exception being the mage's guild and perhaps the Civil War faction. The main quest lines for these guilds may be shorter than you are used to, but they make up for that with the infinite quest generators that continue to let you do what you want in those quests. The thieve's guild has been upgraded to a higher depth than it had previously and has so much more to offer if you spend time to get it fully functioning.
The combat system is so much better than "Oblivion" as well. You have dual wielding capabilities, which includes spells. You can dual wield any spell or one-handed weapon. This is really cool also when using weapons and you use a "killing" moves which are cool to watch.
If you liked any of the previous "Elder Scrolls" games, or even if you liked the "Fallout" games, I believe that you will enjoy this game. It is a little glitchy at times, but that can easily be fixed for the most part on the computer by using the console. Good luck and happy playing!

What's great about it: Single player, can elect not to have a "buddy".
What's not so great: Excessive load time between scenes
This game isn't quite as flexible as Oblivion, but I have played it several times with different races/sexes, and always find a new way to get where I want to go, or increase my levels, etc. It has been a big help in keeping up my spirits since I broke my leg the Monday before Christmas.
As I get better, I plan to go to the next level of difficulty, but not until the leg heals. I can only handle one challenge at a time. LOL

this game is amazing. all the major bug are fixed, if that was holding you back. this is a console port so id give the game a 3 or 4 stars for graphics but with all the mods out there you can make it even better (5), great music.

What's great about it: Everything! Easy installation. Great play.
What's not so great: Hate the fact that you have to log into STEAM to play. Hate Steam. Hate online requirements.
I love the graphics, expecially the facial features and expressions. I love the look of the monsters and the details ( I hate the scary, clicking and squishiness of the spiders, however. icky. - and my nephew, who is terrified of spiders, cannot even play the game due to them.) I love the free play that allows me to just meander as I please. I prefer the intellectual interaction over the fighting and, unlike most games, I am able to customize my playing experience to kill quickly and still play the game without it affecting anything else. If I preferred the fighting, I could play with a much higher difficulty - but I don't. I love the questing and the ability to just meander/wander if I am sick of questing. I am already on my third time through the game. Once as an Imperial Warrior, second time I was a Khajiit thief, and now I am a high elf mage with a wicked bow capability I am building to sneak and dispatch enemies quietly.
