What's great about it: Looks Nice
What's not so great: Will not support combination of HDMI, AV or YGB platforms. If you have all HDMI appears to be good
Did not realize that the unit would not support mixture of HDMI, AV and YGB platforms. You can not utilize the on screen calibration unless all HDMI connections. Anyone want a opened, unused model?

What's great about it: I love the AirPlay
What's not so great: The sounds changes
I have this AV receiver for a couple of moths and so far is great. I'm usually a Sony user. However, I couldn't find a receiver with the same features as this one. The price is good for all the things it offers you. Another reason why i chose this receiver was Airplay since I don't like the connect cables. So if i want to listen to music from my Ipod, Iphone, Ipad or Mac. I have no problem at all. It's great. and since i have an Apple TV. i can watch movies or tvshows which makes it even better. I have connected to this receiver the apple tv, PS3, the cable and sometimes a pc. and it works perfect. The only problem i found is that sometimes the sounds gets cut, while watching tv which it didn't happen before. I also use Moster HDMI cables for all the connections. It's a great receiver for the price.

What's great about it: Easy to set up, good price
What's not so great: Start up time, no wi-fi and Denon iPhone App is useless
I gave it a 4 star instead of 5 because It's only been a day since I installed. Also, this is my first a/v receiver, so I don't really have anything to compare it to....
I just installed the Denon 1912 with my Epson 5010 projector and surround sound speakers last night and WOW! Audio and sound are amazing with everything straight out of the box. I can't wait to start messing with all of the features and callibrate my system!
The only thing I don't like about it (so far) is that it takes about a minute or two to start up. The Denon iPhone App doesn't seem to serve a purpose..... Also, internet connectable is great, but wi-fi would have been better. I (guess I) can live with these things, so it's definitely not a deal breaker.

What's great about it: On screen displays through HDMI ports, Audyssey MultEQ
Audyssey MultEQ automatically sets speakers to match the room resulting in great sound!!
The volume and setup information is shown on screen through the HDMI port. This makes setup a breeze.
This is a really superior receiver for the price.

What's great about it: Features
What's not so great: Complexity
All in all, this is a great receiver, especially for the price. Although it is being replaced by its successor, if you are looking for a great movie experience and flexibility in sound as a beginner, this is still perfect! Due to all of its features, it does take some time learning everything. One other thing that would be good to have would be the option for an IR extender port, in the case you didn't have the ease to hook it up via ethernet wire to your router. Aside from those few points, I love the receiver and wouldn't replace it with anything else at this point.

What's great about it: Internet connectivity, sound.
What's not so great: Really complicated to use
Don't like the fact that you need to be connected and find the device in your home network or have to have it connected to the TV. Remote isn't always responsive, and would like to be able to just press buttons and have stuff work rather than go through a whole bunch of menu items.
I had to return the first one after 3 weeks, all devices hooked up through HDMI were showing a blue box on the screen that wouldn't go away. Internet search said the only thing to do is return it. I've had the replacement for 2 weeks, hopefully the same thing won't happen again.
I like the fact that almost any device connected to your wireless network can control the features, though it would be nice if things happened more quickly when trying to change settings.

What's not so great: Technically difficult
After choosing this model, they only had the floor model for me to buy. I was happy to save the money however it didnt come with a remote or instructions. I am now having issues that the instructions may/may not fix. One example of this is that this receiver will not pass video from the DVD player. Also, the iPod player sometimes doesn't have video. I am happy with the price and options.

What's great about it: Good price and great features, assuming a working unit!
What's not so great: Defective - shorted out in set-up process
The Receiver kept shorting out as I tried to program it. This is the second Denon Receiver I purchased that had factory defects (the first was an expensive unit with a faulty HDMI Board, which had to be shipped back to Denon from the Denon service center in East Fishkill). As I couldn't bear dealing with two long round trips on another Denon product, I returned this mid-priced Receiver to the store for a refund.

I purchased this receiver on line when it was on sale the first week of April for $399.99. I did not even get the electricity running through the thing since the set up menu would not appear on my t v . I suppose the card is bad in the unit. I will take it back to best buy tomorrow to have my purchase refunded to my card since I have not had this unit less than three weeks. I don't know what C NET says is so great about this unit I know they are obsessed with Apple Air Play but if I can not get the rest of the unit up an running right out of the box, anything is better than the so called editors choice is a another dud.

I have a 1912 unfortunately. It is six months old and the hdmi went out. I sent it to Denon for repair and it took six weeks for them to return it. Two days after hooking it back up, the hdmi out has quit again. Fifty bucks to ship it to them the first time and it will be another fifty to send it again...Denon is not a company to do business with. The repair center told me my 1912 was not the only one there they were trying to fix. There are no spare or refurb parts, so Denon tries to fix it themselves. I can tell you how that worked out...it didn't.

What's not so great: Setup of iPhone app, lacks ability to run zone 2 independently
I have been a loyal Yamaha owner for many years, having had a few different RX-V2XXX series receivers. While I have always had at 105 - 125 watts per channel dropping down to the 90 of this unit did not disappoint. The clarity and sound field produced by utilizing the Audessey MultEQ XC is far superior to YPAO. The Internet radio and Pandora function is awesome. I am already awaiting the 2013 models to consider upgrading the theater room.

What's great about it: Easy to use, Lots of functionality for its price range
What's not so great: Display looks a little dated
I got this reciever to replace my Pioneer 1018 unit simply due to it not passing 3D content.
I got a VSX-51 first to replace and took it back the next day. I found the power supply was not as robust as my prev unit.
I returned for the AVR and immediately noticed a better sound from this unit as well as a much more user friendly interface and setup.
It may not look as nice or as sturdy as the Pioneer units, but it seems to be an awesome unit for the money. (extra bonus when it went on sale for $349 two days after I bought it so I got it price matched)
When running the auto setups in these units it bumps the levels sooooo low so its hard to volume match my older unit. I took a cheap SPL meter app and made all my channels to read 75DB at ref volume on the unit with the levels and it sounds like a completely new system!
I ended up upgrading my Klipsch Quintets to KF-26's and KC-25 front stages the same week to see what this thing can do and completely impressed still!
Only thing I am stumped on was Bi Amping. I tried it and the volume cut tremendously.
Their support people are kind of weird too. Deff sounds like a more lax enviroment up there when you call.

I am enjoying the Dennon it is a good attempt at a device that does everything. I love the internet radio but have not figured out how to add other services other than the Pandora, Rhaposdy and so forth that are preloaded. It can be a little intimidating trying to set everything up as it does so much and each source can be customized. Overall I am really enjoying the sound, features and just overall fun I am having tinkering with it.

What's great about it: Setup, quality, features.
What's not so great: Not a thing.
This receiver was a blast setting up and very easy. The house I moved into had speaker lines pre-installed. After running the Audyssey setup, I found out that one of the speaker lines was marked incorrectly causing that specific speaker to be out of phase. The on screen GUI makes working the receiver a breeze. The audio quality is great. I do not own any Apple products, so I have not tested the airplay. I love the fact that as I install speakers around the house, I can use the extra 2 speaker outputs (which can also be used to complete a 7.1 surround) as a second zone to control the whole house with 1 receiver playing two separate sources. This unit has plenty of HDMI inputs and can upconvert all signals to HDMI so that the only cable connected to the tv is 1 HDMI.

What's great about it: Connections to: Internet Radio, Rhapsody, Pandora, Media Server
What's not so great: Bulky/Heavy, but what do you expect from a receiver?
This receiver is amazing. I mostly listen to music and watch movies and I really wanted something that would give me a bang for the buck. After a long days work, I sit back and play music via rhapsody/pandora or internet radio. A great way to relax during busy season. Compared to other units, the value added from Airplay is worth the extra money spent and if you use the additional features on a regular basis.
Another feature that I enjoy is the android app that allows you to control the receiver through your phone. When I'm in a different room and I want to change songs, I simply use my phone to navigate the player. The app allows you to basically control every function of the player. I'm sure there maybe some limitations but I haven't encountered them yet.
I also like the feature that only one HDMI cable is required to hook into the tv. This allows me to hide all of my HDMI cables and speaker wire in my storage unit rather than having numerous amount cables everywhere. Its a pretty clean setup!
The only issue I've had so far is the playback through my PS3. The picture quality is pretty great but sometimes, I have to change the format of the audio/video in order to actually watch a movie. I'm thinking I don't have the video calibrated correctly somwhere on the PS3 side. I'm sure I'll figure it out soon.
I purchased two Tsi300s, Cs10, PSW110 and 2 TSi15s to go along with the unit. I would recommend this setup to anyone. I'll probably write a more detailed review for the other pieces when I have more time.
