What's great about it: great features
What's not so great: I am missing a neck strap
I did weeks of research before I finally purchased this camcorder. It sells originally for $699, and most retailers still sell for that price. At Best Buy it was on sale for $579, and on Saturday it was down another $20 to $559. Plus as a Reward Zone Silver member my points were tripled.
The camcorder feels nice in your hand, not too light, not heavy. I love the features, like the accessory shoe, the light, which is actually a video light and a flash as well as the built-in USB, which charges the battery and transfers your videos and photos if you wish to do so. An extension USB is included. The still photo feature offers a real 7.1 MP, which is plenty and hard to find in any camcorder.
The video feature offers HD as well as standard, and the 16 GB internal memory is plenty, plus you can put a SD card or Memory Stick in. Make sure when you use SD, that you get a Class 8 or 10, the slower ones will not give you the same quality, and might even cause a crash.
The battery last well, but I purchased a spare anyways, you never know. The AC charger is not very convenient, I do not like the cables, so I purchased the travel charger (lucky I found an open box item for half price).
The PMB software did not cause me any trouble (my computer is aWindows 7, 64-bit). Other reviews tell otherwise, but it’s all a matter of installing and setting up correctly. The camcorder comes with PMB version 5.5, and there is an updatee on the Sony website available, which is currently version 5.8. It is crucial to update.
Some reviewers say they have problems with the file format, which is MTS. When I transfered my video clips to my computer, MTS opened Quick Time and played the clips with no problems. There is nothing else to do if you want to burn your clips to a Blu-Ray disc, but to create a standard DVD you need to convert the MTS files into another format, which can be anything from MPEG, AVI to any of your desired file formats. I am using Aimersoft, which converts any kind of video or audio file to any video or audio file of your choice. I use Aimersoft for a while and have no complaints. (i.e. to convert videos to play on iPod, or music from WMV to MP3).
More regarding the camcorder: The Zoom is amazing, I love the face detection, low light videos come out great, I recorded in my living room with just a table lamp on, no problems with that.
The only thing missing is a neck strap, but I attached a generic neck strap from another camera.
If you wish to attach a UV filter, make sure to look for 30mm, which is hard to find. The manual states the camcorder has 37mm lens, which is not identical with the thread you need to attach an additinal lens. There are also Tele lenses and wide angel lenses available for this camcorder, which is something I might look into.

What's great about it: Video quality is excellent
What's not so great: Mic and headset inputs could be more conveniently placed
I bought this camera because it has a great picture and it has a external mic input. I've used it in a variety of settings and it has performed beautifully. Should definitely be on your list of possibilities if you're looking for a mid-priced HD camera.

What's great about it: Solid camera for the price, very lightweight, touchscreen is easy to use
What's not so great: GPS feature doesnt work indoors (if they left that out I wouldn't miss it)
I purchased a Sony DV (tapes) camcorder years ago and it was a great camera. I was hoping to get a new camera (sans tapes) that would offer HD quality, easy to use and lightweight. This camera has all three features. I love the golf swing feature where you can analyze frame by frame how your swing looks. I also like the stability feature, which was particulary helpful for my daughter's gymnastics meets. The GPS feature didn't really work for me because I have filmed mostly indoors where it couldn't detect my location (not a deal breaker for me personally). Also I haven't quite figured out all of the features but being able to upload to YouTube quickly would be a nice to have. I know I can just export and upload from my laptop but a quick feature (similar to how the iPhone does it) would be nice.

What's great about it: Large touchscreen for shooting and playback, comfortable, plenty of storage, and compact.
What's not so great: I bought brown which was the only one left, would have preferred black. Also, wish it included an HDMI cable.
I didn't know much about camcorders other than the fact that I wanted to shoot my children in HD and playback on my 46" LCD. Mission accomplished. Nice touch screen, easy to operate out of the box, large screen for playback and shooting with 32 GB of storage. Nice optical stabilization and comfortable in the hand. Very happy with the purchase.

What's great about it: image quality
I am a professional videographer and had a professional video camera go out on me during a shoot. This camera was my only option. For what I had to do with it, the thing worked great. Easy, simple, outstanding picture quality. Two thumbs up!!

What's great about it: Resolution and Sound quality
What's not so great: You will need an Extra battery
Using it for my business in photography and it is amazingly clear and loaded with features for shooting scences, frames per second like 24p, 60p and 60i, has the wide angle lens which makes a world of difference and a very very crisp microphone.
I also find the cameras ability to automatically take a photo of smiles even while its recording, very useful.
Oh and it performs very well in low light areas but even has a decent powered led light on the camera.
LISTEN! if you have an HD tv, get an HD camcorder, you wont regret it. If you're considering other HD camcorders, get this one, you will greatly appreciate the 32gb of flash memory which is roughly 3hrs and the higher 8mp camera

What's great about it: 1080/60P looks fantastic direct-to-TV!
What's not so great: 1080i is where all the ease-of-use is at.
I got this Sony Bravia-capable camcorder to complement a Sony Bravia TV; it does have a few ease-of-use features that make the combo pay off. It's a treat to plug the camcorder in via included Sony-to-component-video connector, along with power plug behind the same door, and have the TV just pick it up and start showing the menu of clips - including still photos. Even better is to buy an HDMI cable to hook up and get 1080P! If I can get the Bravia's TV remote to work the camera for playback, that will be even better.
The 1080/60P capability of this device is where it's at for me personally. As a mild epileptic, 60 frames/sec really helps me out: the 24 frames/sec used in most cinema somehow hits a frequency that gives me trouble. While some will enjoy the fact you can do both 1080/60P and 1080/24P with the CX360V, its great, smooth 60fps is its main attraction for me.
The camera's touch-screen works for all menu selections all the time; its tiny remote works for all the shooting and most playback stuff. I recommend using the remote to start/stop recordings anytime you can set it up on a tripod or table, and this remote works even in bright sunlight from 12 feet away.
At 30mm, the filter threads are uncommon vs today's market for 37mm attachments. We found a 30mm polarizing filter that works fine but will darken images a bit. We tried a UV-haze fliter that was actually a 30.5mm with 30-35mm adapter ring; the combo vignettes (makes its edges show up in the corners) in all shots that are wide-angle unless you zoom-in a little first. Since the 360 defaults to full-wide-angle each time you turn it on, most shots have that vignette clipping in the corners. Better to order the Sony VF-NKB filter and not worry about it.
The 5.1 mic is reasonably wind-resistant but in the wide-open on a gusty windy day your sound quality will be poor; in the worst cases, it will even clip or stutter the sound heard on playback. An external mic would be ideal but that's only 2-channel. In normal and light-wind conditions the 5.1 sound is great, dynamic range is good enough to pick up deep-bass for the subwoofer, and you can really hear discrete sounds from all speakers including rears!
Photo ease-of-snapping is good, not great. You can't just hit "photo mode" in 1080/60P, but you can in 1080i, unfortunately that means we'll do most of our shooting in 1080i when we really wanted 1080/60P. Snapping a photo uses a photo button that is in a logical place compared to a still camera. There seems to be a 1/2 sec lag from button-press to completed snap. Playing on TV is great: if you shoot both videos and photos, then as you go scene-to-scene thru the day, each photo is its own "chapter" interspersed within the order of the day's video+photo shots. Quality is comparable to a 3.5 megapixel camera with good optics and slow electronics: great in bright daylight and grainy/blurry in dim light.
Compatibility and utilities are good but there's much to explore. 1080P can only be copied to SD, Sony Stick, or hard drive; 1080i can be copied to DVD. Stills can be easily extracted from 1080i but not from 1080P. 1080P also has fewer editing options compared to 1080i... my overall impression is that 1080P, 1080/60P especially, is here now at this price point but its ease-of-use is still reserved for a different class of users' expertise and budgeting levels.
Most users are likely to do most everything at a default 1080i and take few still photos with the camcorder; a lot of us will take some great showcase footage at 1080/60P. Its 1080/60P footage on a matching TV is stunning, to be sure: better than most commercial-release 1080P, which is usually 1080/24P.

I tried all the camcorders in the store and this one had the steadiest shot of them all. To me this is worth every penny by itself because who wants to watch something that is bouncing all over the place.
I can't wait to try all of the features!

What's great about it: Easy to set up, vibrant, LOVE the stability feature
What's not so great: VERY small... easy to misplace.
We got this to use for our real estate business... So far we are absolutely loving everything about the camcorder. The ease of it unfathomable. We were pretty disappointed when we first got it because it wasn't very compatible with Apple. On April 1st of this year, a big update was released and the camera works flawlessly with Apple! We're happy filmers now! :)
