What's great about it: Easy set up, produces excellent docs and pics
What's not so great: Scan features a bit tricky to learn
I bought this printer to replace an HP that I got so frustrated with, including frustration with HP personnel (even at corporate level) when trying to resolve a scan issue....no more HP products for me, as a result. I went with the Canon for the many features and excellent prior/ongoing experience with a Canon Pixma that I use exclusively for photo printing for a couple of years now. Set up was probably the easiest I have ever experienced with an electronic device. Printing, copying, faxing, and scanning functions are all excellent. Wireless set up was quick and flawless. My only complaint is that it took a bit of work to learn how to scan a doc with multiple pages into a single file. Also, scanning pics for highest resolution also takes some experimentation. But, once you get around the learning curve, it's great.

What's great about it: Good value
What's not so great: Poor set up manual
Very good printer. Set up disk that came with box would not support the new Mac Book Pro that we purchased. Had to contact tech support for assistance in downloading new software. Once set up, works great

What's great about it: price for the features
What's not so great: won't duplex scan some docs less than 8.5" wide
I'm not using the fax or wireless functions. Print speed is excellent. I haven't printed any photos yet. Drivers work well and do not cause problems with my system, which is Vista Ultimate 64bit. It should be noted that the unit will not duplex scan any size document. If the document width is less than 8.5" inches it will only scan one side at a time. So if this is a consideration for you check the specifications to see if your size document will scan. The menus are easy to work with. The scan software is fine. It is a very decent SOHO unit for the price. It is much faster than my previous Canon inkjet (ip4200) which I was happy with. I got this unit to save space so I could get rid of an old HP scanner.

What's not so great: tech support depends on who you get.
Had problems connecting due to software disk not having up-to-date driver. First tech said I had a windows software problem but second tech resolved problem by downloading most current driver. I had to get supervisor involved to get tech #2. Printer seems to be well made and solid.

What's great about it: Reliability, Price, and Versatility
What's not so great: Scan quality may be less than optimal (but still good)
When I make a major purchase (such as a new printer) I rely on reviews such as my own. I compared this device to several computer sites (cnet, pcmag, etc.) and it scored in the top 10 of almost everyone. Although this was not the "best" it was not the "worst", and at the price it was at, it was the best deal. I have been using this printer for almost a month and have had no problems what so ever. I have made copies, printed photos, faxed, scanned images, and printed several documents-- and no problems thus far. The scanning quality may be less than optimal, but for my needs it is acceptable. The photos are very nice, but cannot attest to its quality for say a professional photographer. For the novice photo-taker who like the ability the print from home, this is an perfect printer. The wireless set up was a breeze for both PC and Mac (compared to a previous HP photosmart printer). It is rather bulky, but not for my needs. In the end, would I buy this printer again??-- Yes, absolutely!

What's great about it: paper tray and cassette
What's not so great: almost everything
First of all, it's NOT touch screen which sucks when putting in my long network password, had to keep scrolling to press each letter. Who doesn't do touch screen in 2012???? Second, it allows custom paper sizes but not borderless. When printing borderless you can only choose from one of the preset sizes listed.. I NEED custom borderless (edge to edge) printing when doing invitations, etc. Third, with these tiny ink cartridges, I see myself running out of ink QUICK. Fourth, why I do I have to install the print head myself??? This is unheard of, guess it's a Canon thing. It's going back to the store today.

What's great about it: So far everything
What's not so great: Have not come across anything bad yet
Purchased to take the place of the fax machine, flatbed scanner, 2 inkjet printers. Love the space it saves, and the fact it is wireless, I am a MAC user so setup was a breeze with the enclosed software. I love being able to scan wirelessly, and after downloading the Canon app, I can print pictures directly from my phone. It's great, And the great image quality. Double sided copying ability is nice too, not super fast, but I am not concerned with speed, this isn't for an office. I don't notice any huge ink consumption, but I am not a heavy usage printer.

What's great about it: Easy to set up and use.
What's not so great: Small ink capacity in cartridges. Black finish (only color) shows dust too easily.
Excellent printer for the home. Very easy to set up, connect to, and figure out its features. A well-put-together machine that contains more features than what others offer at the same price. For the average home user, this printer is just right; even my kids know how to use it and they don't need to stinkin' manual to figure it out. Ink cartridges leave a little to be desired as far as ink capacity, but it is a minor sacrifice for such a simple and practical printer for the home. This printer came highly recommended by someone I know. It is one of the best recommendations I have ever followed.

What's great about it: Photo quality
What's not so great: Provided software compatibility with updated MacOS
Great looking photos. Not sure how well it does on ink consumption yet. Biggest gripe with this was the installation of the software to my Mac with OS lion. The disk provided wasn't adequate for the latest version of Lion update. It required a 30 min call with Canon's tech support whom were very helpful and meticulous in walking me through the process. Since then, no problems and great copying. Haven't utilized the duplex functionality yet, but nice to know it's there when needed.

What's great about it: Good print quality, and easy to set up and use
What's not so great: Limited scanning features
Good document quality. Amazingly good photo prints for a four-color printer. The scanner's OK, although it's frustrating not being able to crop the scan area before scanning.
Easy set-up, although I had problems with a desktop running Windows XP and failed to get it connected, even with Geek Squad in-home visit!

What's great about it: Everything is great about it.
What's not so great: Its kind of big, but I have the space so its really not a big deal.
I use my printer for personal and work. Personal is mainly photos with some small documents, and work is documents. The documents print great, and relatively fast for an ink jet printer (still much faster than my old Epson!), and the photos print quickly and the quality is EXCELLENT! Looks like a real picture from the lab! Also, am in love with the wireless print - it took me about 30 minutes to set the whole printer and wireless up to my 2 computers and my iPhone. What is better than that? Love it! Love the scan and copy feature - I had none of this on my old printer. Has already come in handy. Lastly, for kicks I tried the function of taking old slides and turning them into photos - works great! LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this printer. It was a bit pricey, but I got it on a little bit of a sale, and I am so pleased with it!

This printer has worked great in the month I've had it. The print and scan quality is good, fast and quiet. The lag time to start printing is a little slow, but it's not too bad. The Wi-Fi was easy to set up and works well. The included software is even fairly usefull. All in all, I think for the price it is an excellent choice.

After years and years of service, my old Canon all-in-one printer finally conked out. I wanted to stay with a brand I really liked and I have not been disappointed. I use my new Canon MX882 printer for document copying as well as scanning -- I have printed a few photos and the quality is pretty good. I have yet to fax but if this all-in-one is like my other Canon, I'm sure faxing will be a breeze. I am very happy with the product.

What's great about it: Ease of printing a copy of a multipage document or scanning it to pdf.
What's not so great: Printing speed fine but takes a while to get going.
Setup was straightforward. It replaced a flatbed scanner and an inkjet printer so it freed up a lot of space. It's nice to be able to print a copy of a multipage document or scan it to pdf. Since it is wireless, any computer in the house can print to it. Haven't hooked up the fax yet, but not a high priority since can email a pdf. Haven't done much two sided printing, but it can do that too. The control panel and screen are easy to understand and use. Owned a Canon i900 printer before and really liked it, but this one is much better.
