What's great about it: Convenient, streams with very little interruptions
What's not so great: No complaints
I love this media player! It streams my Netflix nearly flawlessly. Every once in awhile it buffers in the middle of an episode or movie, but I expect that with a completely wireless connection. I recommend this product to everyone!

What's great about it: A lot of content
What's not so great: Size, User Inferface
I purchased this because I wanted to have another media player like the AppleTV. This did much more and cost less so, I figured I couldn't go wrong. This particular model (which isn't the most recent) is much larger than my AppleTV and Roku player. The unit does have a lot of features and content but, it has a horrible user interface. It was hard to navigate and not as easy as the AppleTV to setup. However, if you own a Sony gaming device you may feel more comfortable with it.

this is a great product that is easy to use, however please be aware that to stream anything from your computer to the TV via this product you will need a media sharing software, so please make sure you get one before buying, i use Serviio which is free to download however there are others the recommended one is Playstation Media Server (also free), this one however is heavy on your computer's memory and may cause glitching on slower machines, Serviio is low memory and easier to use i think. but overall i give this streamer a 4/5 star rating

What's great about it: features
What's not so great: searching
The only problem I have is the search option for movies.
It could be easier, the letters are set up like a phone, you have to hit several buttons and move the arrow up and down to type.
It is a pain. It should be set up like the wii.
But other than that, the features are good. We had to call the service center when setting up, but they were helpful.

What's great about it: good price
What's not so great: I wish it came with a car adapter but that would be a luxury not a necessity.
I got an older model apparently because the newer model was all that was on the shelf but a staff member got the model from the back storage and it had everything I was looking for including a good price.
I highly recommend this device. Set up was not difficult and it has wi-fi and usb connection. Saved me from needing a new TV.

What's great about it: The Brand.
What's not so great: The software and internal hardware. Slow buffer speeds and screen layout.
I usually am happy with Sony products, thats why I chose this item for my kids to use and leave my PS3 alone. But the loading on this media player was quite frustrating, every few minutes it would stop and buffer for a few seconds, my PS3 would never have an issue like this because it has a HDD to buffer to and it would play media smoothly. Only if there was a media player with a HDD at a low cost I will purchase for sure, but for now I am going to return this media player and my kids will have to use my PS3 for now.

What's great about it: Super easy to use.
I bought the Sony Media Player to paly netflix. I have been extremely happy with it. I also have an apple TV and it is pretty much the same thing. The one downfall with both is how hard it is to type anything. Takes forever to type in a movie title for searches. A keyboard option would be awesome for youtube and netflix.

What's not so great: doesn't rescan folders
It was my understanding from a Best Buy employee that this would stream 1080 movies from my PC to my T.V. It does not.
Also, when I add movies to my default library, it does not 're-scan' the folders for new entries. I give this device a 2 out of 5.

What's great about it: Easy setup, good price, nice picture
What's not so great: Netflix setup is kind of a pain.
Its nice to get something that isn't priced super high to be able to watch movies in a room without access to a network cable. The built in Wifi is easy to setup. It is kind of a pain to get on Netflix and then Sony to register the device to be used with Neflix, but that isn't a deal breaker. The picture and sound are great. Used an hdmi cable for hookup. Couldn't be easier.

Works VERY well, remote also is VERY responsive, something that most of the others of other players were NOT. Highly recommended. It could use a few more options in the menu (can you say Hulu?). Overall, would buy again in a sec., especially for the price.

Usability was not easy. Expected to function like the PS3 we got (Both Sony, we assumed the software would be the same.)
It was not. Very hard to read.
Took it back and got a ROKU, very happy with it.

What's great about it: it's decent for the price, if you want to watch something like Netflicks and you want it wireless.
What's not so great: Won't play some files. File menu isn't organized.
I have 2 different media players. The sony requires me to register the product before I can use Netflicks, which bugged me. Some media files on the hard drive I have connected to it, either won't play, or don't support the video or just doesn't support the audio portion. Also, the files aren't organized in any way I can see. My WD media center has none of these short comings. I bought it for $50, which is half price, so I have to rate it as just ok.

What's great about it: good value, several connection options, wireless
What's not so great: limited video playback format compatibility support from LAN, interface is not too intuitive
I got this for my brother as the interface being from sony is essentially the same as for his bravia smart tv. The biggest reason for getting this was youtube and hulu-plus to connect to the bedroom and watch wirelessly in on their HDTV. It may be a bit tricky to use at first, but afterwards it's pretty straight forward.
Setting it up for the first time required a couple more steps than I would have anticipated, and connecting it to the iphone or ipod-touch was pretty simple. of course, it was annoying that they didn't mention which app to get, and you had to look up the entire App store for it.
The truly annoying thing is the limited format support for playing back from a local network library. It works great with mp4 and avi, but other formats not so much.
For the intended purpose of watching hulu-plus, youtube, and the ease of access that wireless N connectivity allows, not to mention Full HD video support, I think it was a good investment for the price. Maybe the Roku is better, but this is good for its purpose.
I might even consider one for myself.

What's great about it: The streaming opportunity
What's not so great: Fear of buying a used unit.
It was very difficult for me to install and use this streaming device since it obviously had been used, repackaged and resold. This meant that I, with the help and patience of Sony, had to back out all prior registration numbers in order to allow me to set up the device.
My other choice would have been to return it, but this would have been time consuming and I could have wound up with same result.
Not a good ecperience with Best Buy.
