What's not so great: SLOW SLOW SLOW internet and im talking <1mbps
I bought this item to switch out an old router which was running slow. This new one was worse. It was way slower. Now Im not sure if I just got a bad item from the lot, but Im totally returning this and not buying an E1200.

What's great about it: The way it looks
What's not so great: everything else
Purchased this router to replace an outdated router by linksys, the one with the antennas sticking up. That router, gave me no problems so I was excited to purchase one that one new and nice to look at. I already have the older model E1000 at my office that works flawlessly so I'd figured the E1200 has to be better. Boy was I wrong, this E1200 keeps kicking all my devices offline. The only way to solve it is to unplug the router and plug it back in. I've searched all the forums tried dozens of things and finally called linksys/cisco support. They had me reconfigured the router and asked to watch it for the next 24 hours. Well, it did it again today making me unplug the router to get reconnected to the internet. Guess I'll be returning it to Best Buy, still under the 30 day return policy

What's great about it: Low cost device w/ IPv6
I was surprised to find that this router supports IPv6 prefix delegation. That may be meaningless to you at this point, but trust me, as IPv6 support is rolled out by major ISPs over the next year, this will be a major win.
The "guest" portal feature is nice, but rather crude, not differentiating between guest systems and non-guests.
No extra bells and whistles that I didn't want and it "just works".

What's great about it: Very easy installation, I did it all by myself!
What's not so great: Purchased a little over a month ago and so far everything has been great with my wireless and computer
When I bought my laptop I had never used wireless or laptop before. The fellow at Best Buy sugggested NetGear which was simple to install as well. However after several days, was not getting reception, took it back and was told that NetGear was supposed to be good, but they had heard there were problems. Have had no problems whatsoever with this one, until I couldn't get anything to show up, had my son look at it and I had accidentally hit the F12 button on my HP laptop and it had disconnected altogether. I really am very happy with Cisco Linksys..

What's great about it: Nothing. Did not work.
What's not so great: Did not work. Nothing else to say.
Purchased two of these for home. Neither worked. Both were defective. Not sure what happened there...but neither could find any network or internet connection in my home. The setup app just kept failing...and if it will not work...you cannot do anything with them other than use them as expensive paper-weights.
Returned both and purchased the newer Cisco EA4500...which works perfectly. I would avoid these cheap wireless routers and just buy what you really need. No reason to buy cheap and then spend hours trying to make it work.

What's great about it: Everything!
Installation was an absolute breeze. It sets up your connection as well as a guest connection with absolutely no work!!! It was almost too simple for me after having installed several other wireless systems in the past. the only thing you do is follow the instructions, provide a password and within minutes you are good to go.

It did not really works as I was expecting. The range is not as good as the N300 from Belkin. I am not certain if it was the location. This item is supposed to be better than the N300, but I rather go with the other brand.

What's great about it: Great Signal Strength
What's not so great: It could have better software for monitoring connections
This is a MUCH better router than a NETGEAR, the signal is stronger than the Netgear the set up is a little more cumbersome than a Netgear but the performance is way better (Netgears have a random disconnect problem that nobody can seem to solve. Check the Internet if you don't believe me).

I could not get the unit to connect to the Internet. I've had many of Lnksys products and never had a problem except for this one. I called the help line and after an hour they said that there was something wrong with my computer, and for $125 they would fix it, remotely. This seemed a little "shady". Since I didn't have any issues with any other router, I declined, I took the Lnksys back and bought a Netgear that worked perfectly, with no changes to my computer.

What's great about it: Easy setup and operation
This router replaced an old Linksys WRT54G that was destroyed by multiple power interruptions during a storm. Following the easy, step-by-step installation instructions, I was able to be up and back on the net within a few minutes. And it operates much faster than the old one. Both hard wired and WiFi work flawlessly. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to upgrade their older equipment or setting up a new or first-time system.

What's not so great: out of box failure - operational issues
Installed using Cisco disk - at end of install wanted to upgrade firmware - update failed..router running slow = max 30kbs. reset cable modem etc.. no change. hard reset reset and tried manual install. same results. tried manual firmware update - failed at 30%. I have setup over 10 wireless routers over the years and never had a problem. taking it back tomorrow - obviously won't get another e1200. BEWARE OUT OF BOX FAILURE - DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY ON THE E1200, put my old router back in and network working great.

What's great about it: Low price, easy setup, so far flawless operation
What's not so great: Transmits all the time even with computer off
Needed a WiFi access point for my new smartphone - my older 1st generation Win7 desktop with the standard WiFi internal card wouldn't do it - apparently a known issue with early Win7.
Finally decided to go with a wireless router and saw this Cisco unit at a great price - how could I go wrong? Turns out I didn't.
Ordered the item online for pickup at local store - went without a hitch. Picked it up (the usual excellent pickup in store experience) took it home and following the simple instructions had it up and running in no time with just a USB connection and an AC power supply.
Configuration couldn't have been much easier with the included Cisco Connect software.And it's been running great ever since.
Can't speak to maximum range - I have a small apartment and currently really use it just for my 4G Android (doesn't use the data plan - excellent!) No external antenna (which might be seen as an advantage) but that makes me wonder about range - if I had a big house I might worry.
One thing does make me wonder - it transmits the access point all the time even if the desktop is off. From a security standpoint I'd be happier if there were a mechanism to shut that off during periods of inactivity.
Overall - great price, easy setup, flawless operation.
