What's great about it: Not quite as good but competes with others 4x's its price.
What's not so great: At ear piercing volume level, bass will distort.
These headphones are awesome! They are everything B&W says they will be.
Most of the time, I listen to a wide variety of music, from Slayer and Metallica to Miles Davis and Mozart, and so far I am very satisfied. At normal listening levels, they've exceeded my expectations and after about six months, I still enjoy them as much as day one. If you are looking for headphones with earth shattering bass, don't buy these. I do listen to some Hip-hop/rap/R&B as well and I am very satisfied with the P5's but I wouldn't be surprised if someone didn't like them because they preferred the coloration that some headphones add to bass and highs of music.
The P5's are sophisticated and refined and reproduce the music as it was intended to be heard. They don't appear to boost the lower or higher frequencies as many other headphones do, but then they aren't marketing towards the teenager market.
I've auditioned almost everything else in the same price range and these seem the most "neutral" sounding. I got to play the Monster Beats and they are fun: loud, crisp highs, and head rattling bass but they quickly wear on you. After an hour or two I couldn't stand them any longer as they made my ears feel "tired." I also spent some time with the Bose headphones and they are well rounded but after two hours or so my ears would hurt. Everything else had either had crisp highs but lagged with bass or dull highs but heavy bass. As I mentioned earlier, if you're looking for over-the-top bass, these are not the headphones for you.
I've worn the P5's for as long as about four hours in one sitting and so far they haven't bothered my ears. They also do a nice job of keeping out ambient noise but I would never compare them with other "noise canceling" headphones. I haven't used the mic with my iPhone but I thought it was cool that it came with that cord. Overall build quality is comparable with others in this price range (good but not like a tank) and I wish the cord was built better but I haven't had any issues and if I ever do, it would be extremely easy to replace (as would the ear pads).
Overall, I would recommend the P5's to anyone looking in this price range. If something ever happened to my own pair, I would run right out and buy these again.

What's great about it: Quality, Comfort, Style
What's not so great: I'd prefer the iPhone controls/mic to be closer to my mouth...but that's all.
I'm not sure what the other reviewer was referring to about the P5's getting too hot after long periods of time. I've used these everyday for a few weeks now at work (for hours at a time), and haven't had any issues with comfort.
These are easily the most comfortable and best sounding headphones I've found. I did a lot of research before I made my purchase (probably too much research) and the P5's were the best reviewed. They have lived up to those reviews.

Short and sweet: build is very nice, design is clean and European, with a little retro, and Good Lord, these cans are Hot to wear. Even in air conditioning. Returned after 2 hours of use. I literally got nauseous from the use. But they sounded great, if a little understated. Bought Sony 700's from the Sony store. But the B&W phones were very nice, just too hot.

What's great about it: Great quality and construction for price.
What's not so great: Case and cord
These headphones are amazing. I recommend going to your local store and asking for a demo. I know at my store they were locked up. The quality is superb. I love music and was looking for some quality headphones. I looked at the main competitors such as bose and beats. I found them "okay". Beats seem to focus on the bass and rap songs. Bose are much better than beats in my opinion but these blow both out of the water. They are very comfortable. I do have some slight discomfort after wearing for several hours (4+), but I wear glasses. I have removed my glasses a couple times and this removes the sensation. The only thing I could complain about is that the cord could be a little longer. The case is nice but nothing spectacular. They are made of steel which is awesome. I am not worried about accidently breaking them or anything. I am also extremely impressed with the noise isolating. If the value is even at a moderate volume it removes the vast majority of environment noise. The inline mic and control is awesome too.

Clearly these headphones were made with a certain demographic in mind. The mids and high's were great. The bass were in the lost and found bin because they sure weren't there. For acoustic, classical, pop, heavy metal and country listeners these would fit the bill. For the hip-hop, rap, R&B, soul and jazz group where bass is needed to "feel" your music, head over to the Sennheiser headphones. Pass on these.

What's great about it: High quality, no sound interference, no additional battery power.
What's not so great: Nothing so far.
I had criteria that I wanted met.
No flashy colors.
No additional battery power.
Hopefully an inline control.
Wide band of audible frequencies.
High Quality.
No sound interferences.
Competitive price.
I looked at probably close to a hundred headsets. I only found one that I liked that fit in almost every bit of the criteria. Those were the Bowers & Wilkins P5 Mobile Hifi. I honestly think one of my favorite things about them is that there isn't any plastic on them. The second I received the box, I had them plugged in and playing music. I felt emotion with the music again. Things are paired again. I smiled, and continue to smile while listening through these headphones. If anyone ever asks me again, These will be the only recommendation that I offer. I immediately purchased a two years warranty for them because I don't know if I'll ever take them off.

What's great about it: Sound quality, comfortable fit, looks
What's not so great: Nothing
I listened to a long list of headphones before finally choosing the B&W P5s over the Bose QuietComfort 15s. I could not be happier with my decision to purchase the P5s! The true sound that the P5s create is absolutely amazing! I am now able to hear every acoustic detail while listening to music. They are also surprisingly good at naturally canceling outside noise even at low listening levels. I was worried about their comfort when compared to the initial comfortable fit of the Bose but they are so comfortable that I actually forget that I have them on. Anyone who buys these headphones will not be disappointed!

What's great about it: Sound quality, build quality, ergonomics, lightweight
What's not so great: The fact that not everyone knows about them.
I've owned the following headphones:
-Vmoda Crossfade LP
-Studio Beats
-Pro Beats
-Bose QC15
-Monster Turbines
And none of the above come even CLOSE to these headphones.
Built quality: Sheep Skin from New Zealand, are you kidding me? Most comfortable thing ever!!
-Pads are removable, so the complementary warranty is awesome to have if they wear out.
Ergonomics:
-Lightweight
-Feel good when hanging on your neck (that sheep skin man)
-One sided cable is really nice to have
Quality:
-TOP notch, you can hear EVERYTHING
-Regardless of the quality of the mp3, mp4, etc. It still sounds awesome!!
I think these headphones should be worth way more than $300.
Honestly, you live once, might as well enjoy the best!!!

What's great about it: Beautifully designed, excellent sound
What's not so great: Comfort, price
I wore these for several hours at a time over several days. I own B & W speakers in my home theater so was enthusiastic about these phones. They have tank like construction and superior materials except for the skinny cord which seems out of place. I thought the sound was superb. Excellent balance across the spectrum. My biggest issue is with the comfort. I think I have a normal size head but these phones seem to clamp down too tightly. I recommend trying them out if you can afford them, but make sure they can be returned if they don't fit you properly.

What's not so great: price
I went in to the Tinley Park store to buy Bose noise canceling headphones. They sounded great in the demonstration unit at the store. The audio specialist at the strore brought me a pair of Bowers and Wilkins headphones to compare to the Bose. I thought that the sound quality was vastly superior as I compared both sets to different types of music that were on my personal ipod. I understand why noise canceling headphones are in demand, but the sound quality of this product was vastly superior to the bose.

What's great about it: Build, Sound, Comfort, & Price
What's not so great: Hot weather will make your ears sweat.
P5 headphones are one of the best headphones to buy, I was doing research on these and comparing to other headphones I decided to try them at the Magnolia store, I'm pleased to say that these headphone are the best headphones that I was able to try in a store and was hooked with the sound quality. I played Miles Davis Kind of Blue album and compared that same album with Monsters Miles Davis tribute headphones and have to say that it blew away those Monster headphones. If you like to hear instrumental detail with life like sound then these headphones are for you, P5 have natural bass which is great for acoustic and vocal music but will disappoint in bass type music such as Hip Hop.
Build quality is excellent, there far and above other brands which price point is not an issue with the P5. The headphone cable can be switched with designated ipod/ipad volume control/ mic cable or standerd headphone cable. They use sheep leather with steel chrome frame which has some weight to it and sit on top of your ears which in hot weather will make your ears sweat. I actually took my P5 on a 4hr flight and sitting near the jet engine but these headphones canceled out the noise which the flight attendant had to tap my shoulder to ask me if I wanted a snack since I couldn't hear a thing while wearing my P5. There not active noise canceling but the insulation that they use blocks outside noise.
To sum it up these headphone should be on everyones list to check out, with Grade A build quality, top notch detail sound, and very comfortable to wear you won't be disappointed and you will get what you payed for. Bowers & Wilkins make high quality speakers and for there first headphones it seems that anything they make will just blow away the competition.
Best Uses: When I travel, At work, At home, watching movies on portable devices.

What's not so great: Some might complain about the fit.
Hi,
Please do not do the mistake of comparing these with any of bose's pair of headphones. If you truly appreciate good sound, you can right away make out the difference between bose's and B&W's sound quality. You may be surpised, I actually don't own these but often goto apple store to hear my recorded tracks on these to check the sound balance and quality. They have never ever disappointed me.I have toggled between Bose quite comfort and B&W P5's and without a doubt I can assure you that the P5's just stand apart in terms of quality and clear image of the sound. When you compare bose and P5, You will clearly observe how natural the sound is on P5's unlike the bose one's with artificial high frequencies and extreme lack of depth in sound. I would be picking up the P5's soon permitted by my circumstances :-).For the rest those who have one, please enjoy the rich sound and feel the power of music !!

What's great about it: quality in both design and sound
What's not so great: might have a tight fit but might need an adjustment here and there
1st off let me just clarify that my standards are raised high especially when expressing words about music, vocals and such. Muisc has always been a part of my life, and incredible how life can lead you to paths that we never would have guessed. Ive been an up and coming Operatic tenor for nearly 8 yrs now w/ training and performing. Because my hearing tends to be more critical than alot of people i wanted to hear my music, or simple demo recordings to sound amazing. I spent alot of time researching Headphones for a good few months and gone from left to right with decisions, finally making the choice with B&W P5's.
I read mixed reviews over the quality and built of these Headphones, i take considerations but i have to expireance things for myself to give my seal of a approval if i may. Folks id be lying to you if i say that these are a waste of money because there are others in the market, let me explain why i recomend these.
these Headphones folks are amazing, i always put headphones or speakers through my music test, as im writting this i am listening to them. at the moment im listening to the beach boys "i can hear the music" and i couldnt believe i never picked up on certain vocals in between the guitar, its like being introduce to your music in a whole new way, I have listen to many artist during my day when i purchased these and man lemme say the bee gees sounded amazing i mean the song "emotions" the newer bee gees version ofcourse sound gorgeous, the harmanization is breath taking and wamr. I then switched to George Michaels "amazing" and boy just perfect, the electric acoustic guitar sounded nice none of the other instr. sounded nowhere overwhlmed and the vocals were beautiful almost like the sound was suttle as in the middle just perfect.
i found a good trick to get a good sound move the cups back just a tad bit and you can hear the sound even bigger and more seperated. Film Scores sound full and rich, you can hear at times depending on the film score the chime or jingles that other headphones rarley if not miss, these have been the best investment that i have done. If you are wondering where i listen to them or on what it would be my iPhone 4. The style is another thing, remember when for example iphone came out and how chic it looked and gave a great new way to expireance technology? well these not only have great sound form a rich audio history but the built is mighty strong, the metal is actual stainless steal, and the leather on the pads and head band are real leather, you touch these or even look at them and they seem to look worth more than their price tag. def a great investment folks, try them for yourself.

What's great about it: sound, build, and material qality
What's not so great: nothing
I started out with Bose QC15s about 4 years ago. They were nice but not built with good quality. They offered sound quality that was great, and at the time I loved them. After the Bose I went with Dr.Dre Beats and they were ok. I liked the design, and the sound quality was decent if i wasn't listening to rap or a song with a lot of bass. Now for these P5 cans. I am so impressed with the design and build quality of these headphones. They offer the best sound and build quality by far! I would recommend these to anyone. I even use them for mixing professional audio

What's great about it: Design, build quality, NO PLASTIC, AMAZING clarity!!!
What's not so great: The case, BUT they are made from nothing but high-strength metal and leather so it's not a deal breaker.
I'll start out by saying that I can't think of a pair of headphones I haven't listened to. I did some extensive research when buying my next pair of headphones before I ended up with the P5s. I have looked ALL over the place for a pair of cans that are built with quality materials (these are nothing but New Zealand sheep leather and high-strength metal, NO PLASTIC), great design, and EXCELLENT, REAL sound! I always liked the idea of active noise cancelling headphones but EVERY pair creates some sort of pressure sensation and or white noise that you can't get rid of completely. I will say that the Bose QC-15s were very nice headphones but the plastic feel and cheaper build quality to me makes them not worth their $300 price tag. I have listened to VERY high end audio equipment so I know where Bose truly places in that race. However they do make a decent pair of headphones. Back to the headphones, if you are looking for durable, fantastic sounding, comfortable headphones these, are, it! Look no further! I know the price tag is hard to swallow but with an iPhone Mic built in with the option to switch it out with the included audio only cord right there gives you better value than the Bose for the same price. The other advantage is that the ear-pads are magnetic and therefore EASILY replaceable in the future. OK, I KNOW I only gave them a 4 on the rating scale but I simply could not give them a 5 based on the case they provide, it simply isn't sufficient to carry a $300 pair of headphones around if they are going to be in an environment of abuse. Now that being said, they ARE however VERY durable in and of themselves so it's not a really big deal but I do wish they would have had a slim hard case personally. Hope this helps!
