What's great about it: Quality of pictures and videos
Great picture quality. Love the panaramic pictures and clarity it takes. The 1080p video quality is a bonus. Takes a little bit for the amature user to get use to at first. But once you get comftorable would not trade it. Great price awesome camera.

What's great about it: Most everything
What's not so great: The color accuracy of outdoor scenes.
The camera is so impressive. I loved everything about it except the color accuracy. I was bothered by the pictures that I took, so I compared it side by side to a canon. The Canon pictures weren't as sharp, but the sky was blue as opposed to a flatter purple color on the Sony. Everything I took pictures of was just off color wise. I tried so many different settings, but in the end, returned the camera.... If the color accuracy isn't too important to you, it's really amazing....

What's not so great: doesn't fit in your purse or pocket
I bought this as an anniversary gift. P.S. My boyfriend absolutely loves it! The pictures are clear and video quality is great. It even takes pics as you are recording. Awesome camara for the price. Best Buy even matched an online price. And in case it takes you a minute to figure out how to use it, it's ok. The auto feature saves you a headache. I'm just jealous I don't have one.

Excellent camera! It does everything. The pictures are excellent and the video is great. if you are looking for one camera that is easy to use,does it all and has a wide focal and zoom range this is the camera for you.

Incredible low price for such a good camera. Excellent pictures quality, very easy to use, nice zoom, great focus, and 16.2 megapixels? what else can you ask for? I highly recommend this product for begginers, I used it already at night, sports, parties and snow, really great pictures, even those taken from far away look beautiful.

What's great about it: Great photos and videos, easy to use
What's not so great: absolutely nothing
After doing quite a bit of research on cameras, I kept being drawn back to this one. So, after losing my old camera at an ice arena, I bit the bullet and purchased it. I am so glad I did. The pictures I take of my two girls (5 and 22 months) are amazing! My old Canon Powershot does not hold a candle to this one! I was very impressed by the ease of use as well. I only wish I had this when my youngest was a baby....I have so many really poor quality photos from my Canon, it would have been nice to have this sooner to have the awesome photos I can take now. And the HD video is amazing!

What a huge improvement from the really sorry Nikon P500 I had before this Sony.

What's great about it: Carl Zeiss zoom lens
What's not so great: Control functions are not very intuitive.
The features of Sony's HX-100V "superzoom" camera add up to a great lightweight travel camera. So long as you do not expect to make prints larger than 11x17, the picture quality is more than adequate. It's built-in GPS feature uses a lot of battery power, so if you are taking lots of pictures and videos in your travels, you may want to carry a spare battery. Although the camera's lens is not threaded for filters or a lens hood, an adapter can be ordered from an independent supplier on the internet. This camera is an excellent vallue.

What's great about it: Everything - read my short review ...
What's not so great: You can't screw on protective lens filter
Briefly, this camera is great ! I've found it easy to learn, easy to use, and I love the results. I've had it now for 8 months & have taken it travelling in the heat, the cold, out in my kayak, on the beach, in the woods, into the city,and just as important into my living room.
It performs great everywhere - under full sun, outdoors in rain or snow, indoors, amazing in low light situations, eg: sunsets, moonrises, dawn & dusk situations, candlelight, etc (with the proper setting selected), and the telephoto capabilities are oustanding !
This is the best camera I've ever used, and I've been shooting photos, slides, video, etc for over 40 years... Trust me on this one !

This camera was a wise purchase! I wanted a camera that allowed me to take full control over my shooting experience but be easily switchable back to automatic for really complicated environments. I am by no means, professional but have dabbled in photography classes. This camera can challenge a novice, but is still simple enough for a beginner. By the way, the images are phenomenal! Best White balance and low light adjustments in its class. Also, Panoramic, 3D, and GPS are really fun features.

I have a lot of digital cameras but that one is perfect for me.
It fully fits my needs. I have next requirements for a camera:
hi - zoom
enough compact
fast shuffle
several shots per second
price < 600
Also I wanted manual zoom/focus configuration as have DSLRs (That is why I have chosen this model. I selected between Nikon P500, Olimpus SP-800uz and Panasonic Lumix FZ35).
This camera have a lot of features and most of them is hidden from eyes. Automatic mode also provide amazing pictures.

What's great about it: price, quality, zoom, works in low light, nice software
I bought it for my mum as she wanted to have something better than the pocket camera and now I regret having myself DSLR with two lenses as this Sony can take as good pictures as my Rebel t2i (of course I am not a pro photographer).
You can take easily pictures at night on a street without a flash. You can zoom amazingly to a distant objects and take sharp pictures. You can manually adjust all the settings or use predesigned modes.
I really love this camera! When my Canon gets older I will buy this Sony or newer generation of this for myself.
Did I mention it can take 3D pictures? FullHD movies? Automatically recognizes faces?
I just realized that this is the first camera which I used that does not make red eyes when portraiting ppl with flash.
And last thing: there is a nice software attached which helps a lot to sort all the pictures by calendar - camera does similar thing itself too. I really liked it.

I bought this for my high-school age daughter, who loves to take pictures and wanted something better than a pocket digital but wasn't ready for an SLR. She is tech savey and loves all of the features. She says it takes fantastic pictures, especially high quality HD, and it's really easy to use.

This camera is wonderful...I have had so much fun using it. I really like the burst feature. It works really well to capture moving things that you would not capture with out it. The burst feature works really well at sporting events. The zoom is excellent and the images are very crisp. Best camera around for the price!

What's great about it: All the features; easy to use; quality of pictures; low light; viewfinder
What's not so great: Swivel screen turning in when not in use
I have a Canon EOS 60D as my primary camera, Canon SX 230 to throw in my pocket and recently purchased the Canon SX40 for times when I don't want to haul the 60D. I am very disappointed with the Canon SX40 for many reasons so I read the customer reviews for this Sony HX100V and went right out and purchased the camera. This was NO disappointment and the camera surpassed my expectations. The picture quality is up there with my Canon 60D. The features are outstanding! The soft skin, blur background (background defocus) and panorama are just a few that are fun even for a beginner photographer. The Scene Selection alone under SCN settings were selling features for me. I took numerous photos of my pets in low lighting using Backlight Correction HDR and was amazed! I captured some excellent and professional style photos using this camera. The camera is easy to use without looking through a manual, easy to set up and fun to play with. It has a solid feel to it unlike the Canon SX40 which is light in the hand & the flash on the Canon is manual- you have to pop it up!!! I LOVE this SONY HX100V and highly recommend it!!! I love having a viewfinder option which is a must especially for sunny days and love the moving screen for hard to take pics. My only complaint is I wish the swivel screen could be turned in to protect it when it's not being used. The shutter speed is not like the Canon 60D of course but not bad. Great zoom and excellent video quality. The panorama feature works horizontal and vertical a feature I have never seen. Sony does an outstanding job on their panorama, it's easy to use and the pictures are stitched for you and come out fantastic. Kudos to Sony for this. I especially loved the Self Timer Portrait features..there is a 10 sec & 2 sec timer AND self-portrait for one person once the face is detected (2 sec) and one for two persons (shoots 2 seconds after 2 faces are detected). We do a lot of timer shots with friends so this is a fun and nice feature. The controls are nicely placed and the camera has a tutorial feature that tells you when every setting does which is especially nice for a beginner who wants excellent photos. I am very impressed with Sony and had written them off a while ago but this camera & photo quality certainly comes close to an SLR without the hefty price tag. I HIGHLY recommend it!!!

What's great about it: panorama pictures, backlite correction mode
bought this camera for road trip to yosemite sequoia and grand canyon, very easy to use and takes very good photos. the panorama photo feature mode works much better than my olympus 610.
