What's great about it: Compact, and it's OK for some audio
What's not so great: Need to have a source that really puts out sound with power
My wife read some reviews before we purchased the Dynex speaker. I wanted a small speaker to plug into a laptop and my wife wanted to use it to play her MP3 player while she was in the kitchen, taking a shower, etc. One of the reviews said this speaker had great sound, lots of power, and so we thought that for the price it was worth a try. Before purchasing we realized that it didn't have a separate volume control---volume is controlled by whatever your source is---but we thought that since we can crank up our MP3 players (with headphones) to a decent level, the Dynex speaker would be fine.
Well, with the laptop playing some tunes on YouTube or such, it's not too bad. But with our Sansa Clip+ MP3 players, even turned all the way up it's not too great. My wife likes to listen to audiobooks as well as music, and for books through this speaker, the volume level is just too low.
My opinion is that this is an OK speaker for a laptop, but unless you have a source that can really crank out the sound with power, you're better off spending a bit more and getting a portable speaker that can supplement it's output.

What's great about it: Great for CD player
What's not so great: Not so good for a cell phone
I bought this for my teenage daughter to use with her CD player & cell phone. She loves it for her CD player. She can turn it up & listen to it while doing homework in her room. But, for the cell phone, the volume level is no higher than the cell phone speaker.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Good sound quality and volume, simplicity of operation. durable
What's not so great: Short cord
I use this speaker at work. I am constantly on the go and I can listen to music on my phone as I move around. I needed something louder than the built-in speaker on my phone, so I tried this one. It has a lanyard that I loop around my belt, so the strain is not on the cord jacked into my phone. The sound is better than I would have expected from such a small speaker. In fact, I'm a little hard of hearing and this is loud enough for me to hear well without having to jack my phone volume all the way up (there is no volume control on the speaker itself, but that's a plus for me). The on/off switch is easily accessible for those short conversations between activities. The outside casing is durable enough to handle minor bumps as I move around the workplace. I have opted for rechargeable batteries, since I will be listening more or less continually. So far I get between 12 and 16 hours of use before having to change batteries. Fortunately, I can carry the speaker very close to my phone holster, because the cord on the speaker is pretty short. Overall, I am very pleased with the performance of this product!

What's great about it: Brings out vocals, durable, portable, good price, easy to set up.
What's not so great: Nothing, so far!
This portable speaker is great! It brings out the vocals of the songs and it can fit anywhere in my bag. I even dropped it accidentally after I got it in the mail and it doesn't even have any scratches or cracks (as of yet). This speaker is worth the price!

The sound quality is wonderful. This is not what you would expect for such a low price. The battery life is long and the speaker is very well made. Nothing that I did not like.

I Love this thing! Ive actually got 2 other speakers (Much better and more expensive then this one) they work perfectly and i use this little thing 90% of the time. Its so tiny and convient! Fits in pockets, purses, doesnt take hardly any room you can bring it just about anywhere.
I was very shocked at the volume it has. I was expecting to plug it into my ipod, hit play and it either die in 10 mins or the sound to be so low. It passed my expectations! I bought this thing 2 weeks ago and used it about 4 hours and its still going! I love it!
Also its cheap enough to make for a gift for anyone!
