Easily set up for all of our devices and super easy to learn for everyone... even the not so tech savvy.

What's great about it: TV and Cable Box Use
What's not so great: DVD, VHS and Roku use.
Remote works extremely well with my new Samsung Tv and HD cable box. Complex set up and use of DVD and VHS units. Not useful for use with Roku internet movie. Still have to use Roku remote.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: works with almost everything
What's not so great: didn't work with the surround sound
I bought this for use specifically for a Bose surround sound system. It doesn't work with it. It does work good with our TV, cable box and blue ray player, but it isn't compatible with the surround sound even though Bose is listed on the device sheet.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: A lot of customization options.
What's not so great: Not ergonomically great. Buttons too similar in size/shape. Not always responsive.
The first thing I notice when using this is the slick glossy plastic. It's so unlike my other remote that it took some getting used to (but I did get used to it). The more enduring problem is that except for the volume, channel, and directional buttons, everything else is too consistent so I often have to check before I enter a channel or use the DVR/playback area. Also, there are no bumps on "home" keys, like "5" or "play." A very minor gripe is that its shape makes it hard to tell which way is up without looking at it. So if you often leave the remote laying around, you always have to look before using.
Another thing is the signal response, although this varies a lot depending on the device. Adjusting my TV volume can be a hassle. For some reason, I have to press "display" twice to get it to work on my Blu-ray. And my DVR and audio receiver generally work great.
That said, there are a lot of buttons you can edit to match each device, enough to emulate the functions of most remotes. Though sometimes you have to be creative (I assign the audio and subtitle settings for DVDs to the "PIP" and "swap" buttons).
Perhaps the most useful additions that other remotes of this price level don't have include the skip back/fwd (handy for DVR "replay" and "live", and DVD chapter skip), and four "color" buttons, similar to what you get on more modern remotes (although they likely won't match in order).
I'd gone in trying to get the 7-device Sony remote, but the store was out, and while that layout is better, I still probably would've gone with this one because of the versatility.

What's great about it: Great ergonomics, easy setup
What's not so great: I should've bought it sooner.
I've used a lot of remotes, including a $300 Logitec Harmony 880, and this $20 remote is way more responsive. I also like the ergonomics of it. It fits well in the hand and the buttons are laid out well. It was simple to program, (no computer needed) and has an incredible range. I was unable to find a remote to work with my 40" TCL LCD tv until I tried this one. It works all of the menu functions of my tv and Hi-Def cable box. A definite A+.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Works well, lots of codes for various devices. Doesn't match my receivers original remote perfectly but all the needed functions work.
