What's great about it: easy to set up, great sound for size/price
I had two tower speakers and two stereo speakers from a record player as surround when I bought these. All were at least 20 years old. I wanted something smaller and in better repair. First, I am impressed with how they are packaged in the box. They're snug and secure so ordering for delivery, with jostling and tossing, should not be an issue. I already had a receiver and the cable in place, I just had to hook up the speakers, a snap with the red and black clips on the backs. For my space, these tiny things match and surpass the speakers that were many times larger. Saved space and sounds better, that's the best deal! The front speaker seems tinny sometimes though I'm not sure if it's the hardware or the media I'm watching/listening to (I have not tried with live broadcasting).
As a note, I've used for a few weeks now and have had two incidents. First, I had the left front speaker sound/volume short out. I disconnected cables and reconnected, sound returned. Also, I get artifact on certain loud sounds (like gunfire). I am not blaming the speakers, thinking it has more to do with the encoding of the movie I was watching (does not occur except one set of shows). They are rounded which makes mounting them awkward (BB sells brackets for them) but found the satellite speakers fit nicely next to my 40" LCD and the center fits a shelf off center on the entertainment center.
Most purchases I second guess. Until Best Buy sent me an email asking for a review I had forgotten this was a new purchase, it's integrated perfectly into my media consumption. I am a very happy customer! If you need surround sound speakers for a small to medium room (perhaps larger?), consider these... I talked a member of the Geek Squad into getting a set!! (along with the matching subwoofer)

What's great about it: Small footprint and above average sound
I got these speakers because they were cheap (cost-wise), but pack a pretty good punch when it comes to sound. I was able to get rid of my big Bose Accoustimass 300 3-way speakers and hang these new speakers on the wall in inconspicuous places. I wasn't worried about base because of the subwoofer I already owned, and the small footprint these speakers carry makes the wife happy too!
You aren't going to get the quality of sound you would from small Bose satellites, but you're also paying about 1/6 of the money. For the money, I would definitely recommend these speakers.

What's great about it: Good Sound Quality
What's not so great: Center speaker sits on a piece of rubber. No attachment
Speakers produce excellent results. Added a subwoofer for a 5.1 system. Have a amplifier that produces low distortion sound. These speakers work very well. Great value for the price. In my case had to find hardware to attach to my stands. Not sure if the thread and hole sizes are standard, but they were different than the speakers I replaced.

What's great about it: Looks and size
What's not so great: Sound range.
I bought a new receiver and needed 8 ohm speakers to go with it. After buying the receiver I was a little low on cash so I got these on sale for $99 after reading other reviews online. I was not impressed with these speakers at all. They look way better than the ones I ended up purchasing but it is not worth it if they don't sound good. These are too small to handle the range necessary for a 5.0 system. Even when paired with a sub these just disappointed. I returned them and bought a complete 7.1 system for $150 that blows these away. I would hold out until something else goes on sale.

What's great about it: great clear sound
What's not so great: have not found anything yet.
Picked up this system for $99.99.I hooked it up to a Yamaha 5.1 receiver and set them up at 8 ohms and adjusted them to my living room.Also hooked up a Sony 12" powered sub.I fired up a couple Blu-ray movies and was shocked at the sound stage that these speakers produced.The high were crisp and clear, the mid range was flawless.Do not expect any bass from these speakers as the woofers are only 3 ".The tweeters are half of an inch and sound great.. Dolby Digital and D.T.S. are right on the money.If you purchase these speakers invest in a powered sub woofer and be ready to be blown away.At $40.00 off retail this is one heck of a bargan.

What's great about it: sound is good, price acceptable
This is my first set of speakers for a surround sound system. They sound good, no hassle to set up, and come packaged nicely so there was no damage on delivery. These are as advertised and good for the price.

What's great about it: The frequency response, good highs and it makes the subwoofer makes his job (lows)
What's not so great: For now I do not see anyone.
I have the Pioneer VSX-821 that is 80watts per 5 channels and a preout for a power subwoofer. I look for a speaker system that do not occupate much space for my room home theater. Then see this system on the Best Buy store and have the opportunity of listen to them with a AVR that was not calibrated and on open store space. It looks that was what I looking for.
I buy them connect to my receiver and let the Polks 10" power subwoofer previous own connected. I am surprise how good the speakers make their job, sounds very clear, I prove them on loud volumes without distortion and have good highs. Also it looks good, because it have the back black flat and the front is black gloos like my Pioneer Receiver. I do not know what, but I try very much speakers, including Bose ones, and this system rocks me and I am very satisfied with the sound my system have now. And compare with others 5.0 speakers like this (Polks, Klipsh, Bose) the priece are the half of Polks and with the Bose I will prefer to not metion it, but the price are very good for the value.
I hightly recommend this system for a little to medium room home theater.

What's great about it: Really good price. Subwoofer not included, which is a good thing if you prefer to customize your sound field.
What's not so great: Speaker wire is hard to strip if you've never done it before! I used needle-nose pliers; no strippers on hand.
The Insignia 5.0 channel speaker set marks my entrance into a new level of audio equipment, Receivers, speaker wires, wattage and impedance ratings. Exciting stuff!
*Disclaimer: I talk a lot about my previous speakers in this review, mostly for comparison purposes. If you don't care about them, don't read anything that's inside of {these brackets}.
{I had purchased the Logitech X-540 speaker system from BestBuy, and I was a bit dissapointed. They were flimsy; I dropped and damaged one of the satellites. I re-configured them so the busted sat (which now only has one working driver) acts as the center channel. I needed an upgrade. I have a next-door neighbor who complains about the subwoofer. The satellites' poor frequency range means the subwoofer had a LOT of bass redirected into it. The solution? Insignia's high-end satellites. With 150Hz on the low end, I get plenty of bass at night, when I have to shut off my sub. During the day, the old Logitech sub is part of my audio environment. With the splitter included in the Logitech system (3.5mm female to 2RCA male), and the splitters I bought (3.5mm male-2female x2, 3.5mm female-2RCA x2, and 1 stereo RCA cable), along with some regular stereo cables (2 of which I pruchased, one of which was included with my monitor), I managed to get it set up to produce a 10.1 environment, with 2 satellites on each channel. My receiver supports multi-ch analog input, as well as S/PDIF toslink digital. The analog input gets me the 10.1, and the S/PDIF is for dolby digital decoding. These speakers cover the midrange that the old surround system was missing.}
On their own, they make a great system for when you can't be bothering your neighbors. Combined with a subwoofer (any sub you can hook up to your receiver/PC, not necessarily the Insignia-branded one), they sound just phenomenal.
{The dome-style tweeters were a major upgrade for me, as all my treble was previously coming out of regular 2-inch drivers.}
I really like the balance between center channel and satellites. The center channel simply has two 3-inch woofers. The other sats have one each. Gives a very nice response to both movies in dolby digital, and music using either my motherboard's "speaker fill", or my receiver's "sound field" modes. Games that support 5.1 sound great as well.
I highly recommend that the first thing you do after you purchase these is set a 150Hz filter cutoff on the low end. This will ensure that you aren't sending subwoofer frequencies to your satellites.
The speakers themselves feel very solid. They have a footprint that reminds me of a coffee mug. You set it somewhere and it just stays put. Nice rubber stands on the bottom; no silly plastic garbage to be found. I found that an empty can of ground coffee is a great way to boost the speaker height a bit. The sizes match up pretty well, for when you need your speaker a bit higher than the table it's set upon.
Haven't blown them out yet, even though I'm using a 100W-per-channel receiver. The speakers are rated at 80W per channel, which I will tell you is plenty for a small room. So far, high volumes tend to hurt my ears before they hurt the speakers. Of course, I never put my receiver's volume past 70%, just to be safe.
Sorry about the five-star rating, I know that doesn't tell you much. I just haven't found anything wrong with them yet! And *gasp* BestBuy has them priced reasonably!
{The Logitech X-540 was priced at almost double MSRP}
