What's great about it: Fantastic picture quality
What's not so great: Buzz in my analog receiver, which I solved with new receiver.
Based on reviews, this was the HDTV I wanted. I got an excellent $ deal, since it was a return unit at my local store.
As I had learned from various reviews, a plasma unit may not impress in a brightly lighted store in comparison with the bright LCD units. And, during the day, the glare from daylight on its glass screen can detract from the picture quality. But in the evening, with all lights off and with a good HD input, the quality of the picture is fantastic. Like the cinema.
I've looked at the 3D capability with the Samsung glasses and it's OK, but not a priority with me.
Issue: Typical of plasmas, the TV itself has a light buzz, which I don't mind. More important, it put a buzz in my 15-yr-old analog stereo receiver. So I had to get a new AV receiver (Onkyo), which, as you may know, accepts all the video/audio sources and outputs just one HDMI. to the HDTV. So I didn't need more than one HDMI input into the TV.
Issue: This TV has networking capability for Netflix, Amazon Instant Video and others, but I liked better the user interface on my new Panasonic BluRay player. So I do not use the TV capability to stream Netflix and the other services.
There are lots of issues that come up with buying a home theatre setup. I ended up getting a fully articulating wall mount for the TV, which let me position the TV low and close for viewing. I'm still wrestling with the audio setup and remotes. But the Samsung PN59D7000 HDTV itself is a winner.
Internet content most enjoyed:Don't use TV internet capability. Enjoy Netflix thru my BluRay player.

We choose this one to replace an older Plasma that was just too big and heavy-wanted the slimmer, lighter one. Have had it several weeks now and really like it. Only drawback is the sound, like with any TV the commercials are always louder but it seems like we have to change the sound effects with every movie or show we watch, it only takes a minute and then it;s fine but if we don't do it-it almost sounds low, muffled, and has bass (we live in an apt so we dont wanna make anyone mad with bass so that's why we always change it).
This product has... Easy to set up, Great value and features for the price, Easy to use remote control, easy to move!

What's not so great: Dark
Lots of bells and whistles; great picture, no peeling issues, did have brightness pops but I updated firmware (check out avsforum); still find it to be dark, but handles motion great; very litte hum, little bit of heat

What's great about it: Picture Quality
What's not so great: Buzzing
I am returning this TV this weekend because of a frequent problem with these Samsung Plasmas-- BUZZING. The TV buzzes very loudly when you are directly in front of it. It's very unfortunate because this TV has one of the best pictures in terms of color accuracy and is one of the more brighter plasmas I've seen.
I thought I could deal with the buzzing but with baseball season starting as I watch more and more games the buzzing gets more and more on my nerves (lot of low volume moments during baseball where the buzzing doesn't get drowned out).

What's great about it: Almost everything
What's not so great: The Buzz
I thought I would be able to live with the buzzing. I was wrong. The TV is of course awesome, but the buzzing grew from a directional buzz to buzzing in multiple places. Its too bad b/c the TV was great. Great picture, great sound, great internet options, etc... Today I received my 64" 8000 and have encountered no buzzing so far.

What's great about it: picture
What's not so great: the buzzing sound
Now on my second 7000. First one buzzed like crazy so I exchanged it hoping there was something wrong with it. Got the replacement over the weekend but it buzzes just as bad as the first. I'm inclined to return it and wait for something new to come out but I got a heck of a deal on it (new, not open box). Anyway, the picture quality is great and there are lots of ways to tweak the picture, but the nonstop buzz is irritating, especially when I'm not in the mood to turn up the volume on my home theater system.

What's great about it: Picture quality.
What's not so great: buzzing noise.
Overall the picture on this set is breathtaking. We also have a Samsung LED in the house and while the LED is brighter, the plasma has much better color depth and arguably a crisper image. The smoothness of the motion is vastly superior to the LED as well. The only complaint picture wise is that now and then there is an odd brightness fluctuation.
The real deal breaker with this set is the horrible electronic buzzing noise it emits. Samsung has told me this is "normal" for a plasma of this size. It is most noticeable when the sound is lower, or most frustratingly when there is quiet dialog. If you are closer than 6 feet to the set, the noise us unbearable. Even at 10 feet away the noise is easily heard.

What's great about it: Smart TV features, easy remote
What's not so great: viewing angle
When shopping for TV's, we were torn between Plasma and LED. I thought LED had a lot of positives - Lighter, thinner, and in my opinion, a minimally more vibrant picture. Upon talking to salespeople at both BBY and high-end dealers; reading CNET and Consumer Reports; and talking with audiophile friends: EVERYONE said Plasma was superior. Superior in things we considered important -refresh rate (600hz) and viewing angle. We did feel of all the Plasma's we considered, Samsung was #1 and Panasonic GT was #2 (omitting the Elite at $3000 more). Samsung is, so far, All That. The only disappointment so far is the viewing angle.
I will discuss this with the calibration team when we have them out in a few weeks.
As an aside, our first Plasma was a 50" Samsung purchased in 2006. Picture was great for 3+ years, then started to degrade incrementally over time - 'sparkles' was the term used on the internet. We were told it was an aberration of 'bad-luck' , and decided to go again with Samsung...my luck is sure to change for the better.

What's great about it: PICTURE QUALITY nice price
What's not so great: buzzing...........oh well, just get another one delivered no biggy, u got 30 days
I've had this tv for 2 days and so far its amzing. I was looking at the pany 55 vt30 $1999, but the 59" samy had a deal i could say no to($1899, free 3d blu ray, 2 free glasses, free calibration). My only complaint would be the buzzing which is not that bad until you are right in front of the tv and really low volume. Sounds like the lights in a warehouse, you know that buzzing sound. I guess I can exchange it for another one, I will probably go down to magnolia and listen to theirs, then decide. All in all its pretty awesome. If you get it and its bad, just get another one, sometimes they make a bad tv.

What's great about it: Great flat screen for the price. Over $1,000 less expensive than LED with a much better picture
What's not so great: Television does no have a autofill that adjusts the picture to fit the screen. Adjustment must be made with remote.
This set far exceeded my expectations. I havve experienced none of the problems others have mentioned in their reviews. TV is connected to a home theater system through a HDMI cable. Picture quality is excellent, colors sharp and vivid and the set has a number of picture adjustments through the remote. Compared to my other 3 year old plasma tv, this set is much thinner and runs much cooler.

What's great about it: Picture is fantastic
What's not so great: Avoid watching anything that is not HD, the picture is not too great
Shopped stores, web sites, and you name it trying to figure out what to buy. Already have an older Panasonic Plasma and fairly new Sony XBR LCD but this one is by far the best. Comparing the plasma and the LCD definitely convinced me that plasma was the way to go. Consumer Reports rated this very highly and they were right. Have tried the 3D watching Captain America and was stunned at how good it was. No signs of the buzzing that people have mentioned. I am getting little glitches very occasionally but I think that the power is dropping out when the TV, Pioneer receiver, and blu ray player are all pulling hard. Plan on adding a line power conditioner.

What's great about it: Clarity, depth, resolution, refresh rate, 3D, blacks, motion, etc.
What's not so great: Beware of seeing actors with bad skin.
I returned an Aquos 60" because the faces were washed out, forcing me to consider plasma. The Samsung was a bit more money, and seemingly risky (rumors of burn-in, weight, longevity, angle, etc.,) but the LED just didn't cut it. The Samsung plasma 7000 series though is just outstanding. Great color, deep blacks, crystal clear, no blur; what can I say? Watching football is unbelievable. And the 3D (and fake 3D) effects are excellent. (Sit close and get immersed.)
The downside is that now I need new glasses. The picture is so clear and bright that I can see the scratches on my eyeglasses when I turn my head.

What's not so great: Buzzing and fluctuating brightness
Picture on this TV was amazing. But could not get over directional buzzing that could be heard over the volume in quiet movies and shows. Fluctuating brightness was also very annoying. Tried to return for a new unit of same model but still had same problems. Went with Panasonic GT30 and have none of these issues. Too bad Samsung can't these issues worked out.

What's great about it: Picture better than cinema experience
What's not so great: Nothing
High End Plasma is the best. I have done the research, and viewed many TVs. I don't need the internet viewing, so the 7000 series does the job. There is a a difference in the Audio Return feature, but no issue for me with a home theater.
Regarding screen burn in with plasmas. There are protective measures in place to protect against that issue. You don't want to challenge the screen by leaving it on pause for long periods of time, though.
Regarding the picture. I had a high end Samsung LED before. I liked the picture but it didn't have the same "experience" as the movie theater with motion. That is my major concern. The cinema is not what it used to be. There is always someone chopping at the bit or disturbing well mannered viewers. The movies at the cinema is not worth 12 dollars. That's why I am purchasing the best TV in the world. And that's what this TV is. If you get a good one, which is 95%, then, you will be fine. If you get the 1 in 20 that has a bad pixel, the, make sure you contact best buy within 30 days.
Benefit from my research and buy this unit at the most competitive price which is 1800 bucks.
You will enjoy the TV better than the cinema!!!
