What's great about it: Great picture quality, good looking overall
What's not so great: Internet connectivity is a real pain.
I hate watching TV with all the commercials, so I bought this because it was advertised as wi-fi ready and has Viera Link and I can use it to go on the internet and stream Netfilx or other commercial free stuff. That's where this unit is really lacking. I have all but given up on any internet connectivity. Every time I try to log on I have go through the entire set-up procedure to connect. Then it only works sporadically. I have a Sony smart tv that I put right next to it and it works flawlessly so I know it's not my network. I love the picture on the Viera. It has performed wonderfully, but the their internet interface is terrible.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: picture and settings are easy to change
What's not so great: would be nice to come with a set of, or offer a discount on, 3D glasses.
One of our biggest concerns with upgrading to an HD TV is that in some models, the picture is so clear that the richness of the images is lost. I say richness, I don' t know the right term, some HD TV's make everything look like the set of a soap-opera. The THX and Cinema settings on this model do a really nice job of balancing accuracy, contrast, and crispness while delivering a great picture. Also, I really liked that it included wireless. While netflix shot themselves in the foot last year, we are still fans of their online movie offerings. It is really nice to be able to access those on the TV. My only complaint is the cost of the 3D glasses. That wasn't a deal killer for us because it seems like a novelty that we'd enjoy for a week before the glasses get lost.
Overall, after 10 years with our same 32" Sony we are finally joining the digital age. We made this purchase with careful consideration about what we did and didn't want in a new TV, reading reviews of virtually every model on the market, and watching our friends and families tv's for the past two years. I think this tv offers a great balance of picture, features, and price so, I'd recommend this one to anyone.

What's great about it: Great picture
What's not so great: Nothing
I bought this TV after much research. I moved from plasma to lcd to led and back to plasma after speaking with a very knowledgeable salesman in the Magnolia section. I couldn't be happier with plasma and the picture. Easy setup, great picture and even with the comments about poor speaker performance, i think the speakers and just fine unless you're trying to blow the doors off.

What's great about it: color representation in skin tones; no motion tearing on edges
What's not so great: it's a heavy, but so what! worth it...
an exceptional value and one beautiful picture... setup right out of the box... found good adjustments from online resource and tuned the rest to taste... will be getting calibrated after 300 hours of screen time... can't wait to see it fully tweeked... can't go wrong with this one... if you can find a price match in your area it should cost around $996 + tax as of January 2012... the THX in the GT version is worth the extra $100 and getting the chip set and color engine for the 3D is also worth the extra over the S and ST variations....

My second Panasonic Plasma TV. First thing right out of the box, is how much thinner and lighter it is than my older panasonic (2006) plasma. Selected this model and brand based on the professional reviews and also the user reviews at various websites. Went in to the Best Buy store near me and viewed the picture from their blu ray DVD and also the Direct TV (i think) broadcast signal. Picture looks fantastic with all HD channels and is especially much better at keeping up with sports. I am completely satisfied with this TV, it works well for what I use it for.
Surprised that the Viera Cast on the TV does not include Vudu, but the panasonic Blu Ray player does, which I have used often and it works well.

What's great about it: features and appearance
I bought this tv for Christmas and LOVE it! If you are trying to decide between plasma and LED lcd like I was, let me assure you that this tv WILL impress you! First I liked the thin bezel design with brushed aluminum trim around the edge (hard to see in online image). Much more attractive than ST model. I went with Panasonic because they have the reputation for being the best Tier 1 plasma screen manufacturer. Yes this TV is 3d and has smart capabilities but I didn't buy it for that. The features are the selling point. You can prevent burn-in by setting the sleep timer in case you fall asleep or by enabling the anti-image preventer which orbits the pixels. You can adjust the contrast, brightness, color, tint, and even sharpness to make picture as bright and sharp as LED hdtv with motion blur technology but plasma still has it beat. I set everything to 50% for first 100 hours of use until tv was broken in just to be careful of image retention. Lots of connections on back of tv, more than I need. Love the Viera link and the ability to control blue-ray player and surround sound settings with tv remote. Read specifications for all the details and you won't be dissapppinted.

I bought this TV on sale at Best Buy for $999 and it is worth every penny. A year ago, I bought the "big brother" to this TV (the VT series) and I see absolutely no difference between the two except the fact that I paid $1,000 more for the other one. This one even came with the Wifi dongle, where I had to buy it separately for the other one. I chose this TV because I wanted a plasma TV that worked well in a bright room. I don't get sun directly on the TV but it's still bright in the room. I can't say enough about the TV...it's awesome and well worth what I paid.

What's great about it: Big, clear, easy to love
What's not so great: Some programming produces a dull color
I have been waiting at least a month to write this review, so here goes:
First of all I want to say that I LOVE my TV! It is a great TV all the way around.
OK ... Before I start my review, I must tell you that I had to have my TV exchanged soon after I got it because it was defective. There were three thin horizontal lines about a third of the way up the screen. I Googled the issue and it sounded like this problem was the basic kiss of death for a plasma panel.
I called Best Buy and I was immediately scheduled for an exchange ... no questions asked. Unfortunately, the first scheduled appointment was canceled because the TV had been oversold and there were no TVs to bring to my house. The next week, however, the new TV arrived. The delivery service took the defective TV and set up the new one, which thankfully was not defective. Also, it looks as if the TV is still sold out at Best Buy.
Anyway, I was of course a bit surprised that the first TV was defective as it is a higher end Panasonic and I have two other Panasonic plasmas in the house, one that is almost seven years old and the other around four years old, and neither of them have given me a speck of trouble.
The other thing I want to say before I actually review the TV is that I was more than happy to realize that once I picked up the TV in the first place that it was $200 less than what I paid for it online. As soon as I picked it up, I received a $200 credit to my account and I also got $20 back on the extended warranty.
It took me a while to adjust to this TV. First of all, I went from a 32-inch to a 50-inch and the room is not huge. Then, I had to get used to a much, much softer look than what I had been seeing on my 32-inch plasma that is now in my room. The old TV did not have the same number of picture settings and I had it on a toned down vivid setting as the standard setting was just too dark for me on the old TV and also on the new TV (though the Blu-ray version of Love Actually looked really nice on the standard setting of the new TV).
Anyway, it is a very soft picture and my eyes were used to a much starker picture. It has taken me a while to get used to it, but I really love it now. I don’t watch sports, but I can’t begin to say how perfect the live sports picture is, as well as animated programs and graphics. Outside scenery is outstanding and the color quality of indoor scenery really depends on the program.
I am not great at tinkering with colors and I don’t want to change settings every time I change the channel, so some programs (movies, as this is really all I watch) are not perfect, but watchable. The blacks are very deep with no pixilation, and there is not a lot of glare during the day.
The 3-D is awesome! The colors are perfect and watching The Polar Express was just as good watching it at home as it was at the IMAX theater.
I was able to find 3-D glasses two for $58 a piece online and they work great.
I believe the final item on the agenda is the Viera Connect. I have a Blu-ray player that streams, so I was used this kind of service, but the Viera Connect is better and more enjoyable. I love all the home screens, the weather, the news, the games and all the streaming features.
Bottom line, this is an amazing TV and I would recommend it to my friends and family. I think $999 is a very fair price for a high-end, quality, 50-inch plasma TV with all the bells and whistles. Oh ... and I don’t want to forget to say that this TV IS compatible with DirecTV’s four 3-D channels.
The DirecTV site does not have an updated list of all the compatible 3-D TVs and I didn’t even think Best Buy had any of the compatible models until I went into the store and the sales person showed me this TV in 60-inch version and it was broadcasting DirecTV 3-D programming. That is when I was sold on the 50-inch version.
Anyway, this is a great TV. I thank Best Buy for making my exchange so easy by not doubting what I had to say and by picking up the old TV and bringing me the new one. I am very pleased with my purchase.

What's not so great: if you are trying to hook your cable wire to the traditional tv input , the input is hard to reach .
Bought this before the thanksgiving rush days . In store the price was reduce another $200 as I wanted that day I had to pick it up from the BESTBUY warehouse. My wife and me fell in love with the picture quality . I personaly am a SONY guy but after lot of research and thinking came to the decision that this TV was worth every penny . Like most of the big screen TV you would buy , I would recommend home theater system so you get good sound. Its been 6 days now , we all love this TV.
BluRay movies are great to watch on this TV , the price we paid was $999.98

What's great about it: graphics and picture quality
We were convinced to take the higher processor speed over the extra 5 inches on a lower level model. This TV handles 3D extremely well and is a dream for live HD sports broadcasts. The only negative is that the refresh rate is so high that some of the older movies seem too crisp to a possible fake level. A minor sacrifice for the newer content coming out on a regular basis.

What's not so great: Reflections from glass screen
I bought this TV for a new house for the living room. I had forgotten the glass screen of a plasma set is very reflective and the new house has lots of light and the room has white blinds on large windows on two sides. I'd recommend this set highly if you don't have reflections. But then, you need LED LCD.

What's great about it: Superior to my LED experience
What's not so great: As with all new TV's, the sound is not great. Make sure to hook your sources to an external sound system for best audio.
After holding out on purchasing an HDTV for many years, I immediately purchased an LED TV, as these newest line up of LCD TV's have been shoved down our throats as being the industry leading TV's. However, after purchasing an LED I have 3 major grips that caused me to buy plasma...
1. Back light bleed during dark scenes;
I was under the impression that with LCD's switching from the CCFL backlighting to the LED, this was supposed to be almost entirely eliminated. However upon purchasing the LED I could not bear watching a blu-ray because with the black bars at the top and bottom I could see light bleed in the four corners of the TV which for me would take away from the movie. This issue does not exist at all with the Panasonic.
2. Refresh Rate lag;
If you read up on this, there is a lot of back and forth as to 60hz vs. 120hz vs. 240hz. I can only speak about my experience with a 120hz LED and that while viewing fast motion content on the LED, I did notice what I consider to be "laggy" video or "ghosting". I have yet to witness any "ghosting" on this Panasonic.
3. LED is unforgiving to Standard Definition Content;
After viewing a lot of different standard definition source material (DVD,VHS) on the LED, I have to say that it just looks "bad" almost pixelated on the LED. After viewing this same source material on this Panasonic it looks more accurate and true to how it looked on my old standard def CRT.
Overall I am extremely happy with this Television and have not regretted my purchase.

This TV has everything our family needs- Amazing Picture, 3D, Great Sound and loaded with other features we will enjoy. We couldn't ask for more with everything included at the price we purchased this TV. Best of all we purchesed the rocketfish wall mount with Geek Squad installation. I never exspected the Geek Squad to do as well as they did and be so professional. My wife helped me make the right choice by paying the little extra by having the Geek Squad install everything. What's not so great: Should of got the 60 inch model, That is next.
After going through a few edge lit LED tv's, LG, Sony, Samsung good models too. I was left flat, Many had trade offs, Good in light scenes horrible in dark scenes, Good video processing in one, bad in another inaccurate colors. After taking back the third and being let down, I was lead to this new Panasonic, New gen Neo plasma and it was an out of the box awesome picture, After a few custom settings this thing is so accurate in color almost as bright as LED and Black levels are superb, Finally a TV that looks good with all TV, Blue Ray, XBOX and PS3 and fast moving sports is a treat I watch a'lot of baseball and football and it doesn't falter. Input lag in almost zero and is phenomenal with video games, No blurring and has a motion flow technology that makes it unbeatable. Comes with WiFi adapter and is really fast with navigating Netflix and other Apps. I'm telling you, if you are looking for your money's worth in a TV I strongly recommend this one. Also if you have burn in with a 2011 plasma model you paused your game and passed out. Zero burn in with me and I play games for hours at a time.
