I had to update laptops for work and because of a slight screen accident. I chose this computer because of its speed, its new processing power, and its ability to do everything I needed. A fantastic decision on my part! I love it.

What's great about it: Easy to set up
What's not so great: Battery life, shows every little this on it.
I was told that this laptop's performance would be fast, and that the display would be HD display, and that i would be able to have 5 to 8 different programs up and running at the same time without have performance issues.
The HP Notebook Probook 4520s is very slow it takes close to 2 and an half minutes to turn on the computer, and when i open Media Window Player and click on a song to listen to it take 2 or 3 minutes just to play the song, and the battery life is useless because it does hold a charge at all, and the display is fair when on the internet, but when you try to watch a video or a movie it just looks like it was zoomed in and forced to fit the screen size.
And one day i called HP about the performance issues and asked how i could get this fixed, so the guy made me download this software off the internet so he could take control over my computer and when had to change all these setting it was very confusing for me to follow and after he changed all the setting he said everything should perform faster now, and i check and it did, but as soon as i turned it off and back on i was right back where i started. This laptop is a joke.
And i have a desktop that was made in 1998 and it's faster than this laptop. I have learned i will never buy any HP products, and i have learn that i am better off just building myself a laptop or desktop.
You would be better off just buying a MAC

What's great about it: looks nice sitting on the desk
What's not so great: everything, very poor choice
I bought this laptop based on the spec's provided by the advertisement, it turned out to be a poor choice, for a i5 processor its very slow, slower then my old HP laptop. Windows 7 started to drop information as soon as I opened the box and turned on the computer. the first few days error messages keep coming up windows cannot be found, windows cannot be started, etc etc. the touch pad is junk and should have never been put on the market, the mouse drifts out of position, screen images look washed out and very pale, over all a very poor choice for the money. Also bought a HP "wireless" printer, cant get the wireless to work, I am not a computer expert, but it should not have taken 7 hours to install the printer, the software disk included with the printer is bad, it keeps locking up the computer. I had to go on line with HP to load the software, HP is making very poor quality machines these days, its time to switch to Apple.

What's great about it: Easy to use, fast, long battery life.
What's not so great: Poor screen quality, no backlit keyboard
I like the speed, responsiveness, the the nice feel on the keyboard and touchpad. Unlike several other laptops I have used, the multi-touch option on the mouse is actually enjoyable to use. The battery life is decent, lasting four hours+ (up to six hours) The i5 is decent, it does get slow for no apparent reason on some tasks. The laptop seems to run cool overall, even under stress the computer does not get overly warm to the touch. (My temp. software shows it as being 65-72 C under stress) It seems like most of the heat is internalized. Not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing.
My biggest complaint about this is the screen. Sure, it's a cheep'ish laptop, but that is hardly an excuse in this case. The viewing angles are moderate, but the colors are horrible. (video looks okay, but the desktop and pictures are extremely washed out.
The keyboard was easy to transition to from my full-sized keyboard, but a backlight would've been nice. Also it would've been nice to have a wheel for the volume instead of using hotkeys for that.
The palm rests collect grease like a magnet.
The wi-fi has low signal strength in comparison with standard laptop range.
