What's great about it: Does exactly what it says it does
What's not so great: Price could be a bit lower to help students, who can benefit the most, afford them.
write slower than they talk. Great for interviews, lectures and any other times when you need a clear record of information you dont want to miss.

What's not so great: I didn't learn about this sooner
This pen has been a lifesaver during meetings and conferences where several conversations are occuring at once. It records my notes so I can store them on my PC and have access to them even if I left my notebook somewhere. The voice recordings sound very clear and allow me to go back and listen to just certain points in the conversation.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Easy to setup and very reasonable price for the product
So much power in such a small device. The pen records while you take notes in a business meeting, high school or college class. You can turn your notes into a PDF file and upload the audio with it from the pen. You can load this to Facebook or a mobile device. Must use the paper specifically made for the SmartPen in order to take advantage all of its features.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Sound/note link, great recording quality
What's not so great: Pen is kind of thick, you have to have special paper
Prior to purchasing this pen, I used to freak out during lectures. I am one of those students who takes notes in class, then goes back and writes them all over again afterwards, increasing my workload. If I missed a word, I'd be asking my professor to repeat what he/she just said, and eventually they began to get aggravated with me.
With the Livescribe pen, it is no longer an issue. The pen records in real time with what you are writing on the dot paper. I had tried using the mic on my laptop to record lectures, but when you are in a large lecture hall, the quality of the recording is horrible. The Livescribe pen has settings for lecture halls, smaller rooms, and also has settings for HQ sound recording.
It makes taking notes much less stressful for a perfectionist.

What's great about it: Ahh it works great as a pen....
What's not so great: complicated, no instructions, they actually sell this??
Still not sure what this thing is for??? My wife bought it as she though I could take notes in a meeting and than download them into word... Hummmm not the case. Actually after reading the 2 page instruction manual I am still not sure what this pen is for other that a $99.00 pen. I called manufacture and they confirmed that this pen does not download into word. But it will record conversations??? Great for $99.00 I get a tape recorder...... PS returning this to the store.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: Everything! Great for all and especially great for those with learning barriers.
What's not so great: If write a lot you can run out of ink need to buy more cartriges (they don't cost much though)
My Echo Smartpen is awesome and has really been a big help for me in school. With hearing difficulties and learning barriers this pen has made notetaking and class lectures more beneficial and if I foreget something the playback allows me to listen to it all over again or just that portion missed. Its awesome how is can record and translate what you write, where on your dot paper you wrote it, and in what notebook. It is also really nice to be able to take written notes and transfer them into typed format. I like all the fun apps and the calculator too. This pen is really great and I have lots of fun showing off to everyone all the cool things it can do. What I think is best about this pen is that for many it will be a wonderful tool and give them opportunity to hear, listen, and communicate.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I opened the package, read directions, and could not get the pen to record without having to press the "buttons" well over 20 times! Returned the same day. . . now I record my lectures with my phone, much easier and free!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: easy to use, smart, efficient
This is a revolutionary pen that has changed the way I do business. I own a small company and the time this product has saved for me...is immeasurable. The fact that I can sit and listen to my clients, without trying to capture every important note while trying to pay attention to what they are saying...is amazing. For $100 - this is a smart investment for any small business owner. I can imagine this would really be helpful for students and other professions as well!
I would recommend this to a friend!
