I purchased this to supplement the sound of the 26 LED TV I had in my room. Having previously purchased the Insignia wireless sub woofer (bought it along with another, less than satisfactory sound bar), I figured this sound bar would complement it nicely. Immediately after firing the sound bar/subwoofer up, I knew that letting go of my old sound bar was an excellent decision.
The bar puts out crisp, clean highs, and mids that are just about right. Not too blaring, but not too indistinct. The bar itself really doesn't *need* an external sub-woofer. The bar puts out a decent amount of bass on its own. Had I not already owned the sub-woofer prior to purchasing, I would not have purchased it. It's simple to operate. The remote is comfortable to hold on to, and offers straight-forward controls. The bar does have a "dynamic sound" module of some sort meant to equalize sounds (ie. when spoken word in a movie is hard to understand, while background noise is loud and booming), but I've never had to use it.
Depending on your TV, installation of the bar can be incredibly simple, or a bit tricky. If your TV has analog audio out ports, all it takes is one set of wires and minor tweaking of your TV settings. If you TV lacks analog out ports (like mine), wiring the bar to work with all your devices can be a tiny bit complex, as the bar has only one analog audio input.
For a small bedroom, or a small entertainment room, this bar is absolutely perfect. I have no complaints about it what-so-ever. Some people may complain about the lack of a digital audio input. While it is a legitimate gripe for some (some TVs have ONLY a digital audio out port...they lack analog audio out ports), it shouldn't be a deal killer. With the right cheap parts and wires, and a little bit of creativity, 4 or more audio sources can be routed out to this sound bar.

Only had it hooked up for a day, so this is just based on first impressions, but, so far the sound quality is great, good high and mid range and surprisingly good bass without an additional sub....only knock is that there is no hookup for a digital input connection....have to use the RCA jacks...but that was not a big deal for me....overall....great speaker!
I would recommend this to a friend!

product looks nice. did not come with all the correct cables. instructions did not mention the correct cable needed. the "in control cable" did not connect to tv either. (no port on back of my insignia 55" lcd). in the end product was returned for a different brand.
if i had to use a remote for the sound bar, i decided to purchase a samsung with the wireless sub.

What's not so great: not compatable with my insignia TV
I dont know how the sould quality is on this, as I could never get it to work with my Insignia TV, which was very surprising and frustrating to say the least....
The only way to get sound from this is the A/V out. My TV has either HDMI or Digital Optical, which the soundbar has neither of....
Very annoying, as you would think "same brand, same connections"
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's not so great: Only syncs with an Insignia tv.
This is a great unit! I have a small living room and it is soo perfect for our house. We don't even bother with the tv volume now. Sounds like surround sound, and I don't even have a subwoofer attached. It would be easy to hook up too if I wanted one. Only con is that it can't be controlled by tv remote, but that's a small price to pay to finally hear my tv without the volume on 90. So worth the price, easy to set up and pretty to look at.

What's great about it: Loud, Sleek Look, Good Sound Quality, Cheap
What's not so great: Weak Bass, Wrong Cables included, no digital audio ports
Purchased this when it was on sale for $99 and was pleasantly surprised with it. If you're looking for a sound bar that will shake the pictures off of your walls look elsewhere, but if you are looking for a good upgrade to your TV speakers this is for you. Bass is reasonably good, might buy a subwoofer to upgrade but all in all this was a good buy. As previously mentioned, the cables included don't work for Insignia TV's. So while at the store make sure to get a RCA to headphone jack converter.

What's great about it: PRICE FOR ITS CRISP CLEAR SOUND!!!
Ok so my plan was to hook up my stereo to tv for surround sound, but decided that this was a great steal 100.00 off!!! WOW Is all I can say! For the Price its a really good sound bar! Very easy to hook up and I really did not need directions as I am kind of electronic hook up swavy! All my parts were there, I was leery cause of one of the comments were made; I have an insignia 37 inch flat and everything hooked up really well! You can also plug in an ipod to it with a separately bought connector it will tell you in the booklet...if you want a good quality sound bar this one is great for the price I am very happy with it I really wanted bigger but I didn't want to spend 500.00 so with this being said if you don't have the funds for an expensive theater system this one is good!! Well done insignia!!! :) No static or anything on my sound bar just crisp clear theater sound!!!!

I purchased the Sony 60" TV that was on sale before Christmas..great TV, but sound was horrible. I live in an apartment so I really did not want a subwoofer, but it does have the capability to add one later. This soundbar makes the TV sound so much better - we can actually hear it now. If I were to say anything negative it would be that it needs a little more bass. I paid $99 for it on sale, so it's worth it! I would not have paid the $199 they were asking for regular price.

What's great about it: Quality sound for price and easy to set up. Flexible enuf.
What's not so great: Can't fault it really! Fit MY needs on all criteria.
The sound and features are great. I read other reviews and got the idea that some folks don't know how to hook it up properly. Echo should not be there if you have the TV audio tweaked correctly. I'm betting you left the TV speakers on! Also cables need to be connected and configured optimally. Remotes are usually a challenge but study it through. I returned a Vizio bar that had inferior sound quality yet it was larger. NO bass. Same Hz response. The Insig's "Dyna" sound feature rocks! The Vizio did have more connection jacks but I didn't need them. Also I had lip sync probs w/Vizio for awhile that some of you would have never figured out (sorry). For my need the Insignia bar's quality vs price were the best. I did get it on sale for $150!
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Easy hook up, slim lines, looks nice
What's not so great: Sound still is echoy, and sounds fake.
The sound bar has iControl feature, however, there is no 3.5mm jack on my Insignia 55LED for iControl. Bass is faint. Talk still sounds like it's echoing. Overall it is better than the speakers on the LED TV. Got it for a great deal, but was expecting a bit more of a stereo sound. Will be looking at how to hook up iControl. Still can't seem to find a remote code for my uVerse Remote either.

I gave this product four stars due to the lack of connectability to a just purchased Insignia LED TV. I had to return to the store to get the correct cables. The cables in the box do not connect to Insignia TV's. Sound is great, ease of set up great(with the right cables). Once all was done I am happy with my purchase.

What's great about it: looks nice and fits on stand in front of tv or mounts
What's not so great: cable doesnt fit insignia tv
We hace a 55" insignia LED TV. The tech said this bar was new and would work with our tv. It took us awhile to get it working, but the Incontrol cable doesn't fit in the corresponding spot on the TV. annoying because now we have to go buy an adapter. that was the whole point of getting the same brand==to be compatible. We also got the subwoofer and it won't work yet. we will call tom. The sound spikes are better than just the tv and dialog is clearer. can tell a little right and left difference. we will try for a couple of weeks and decide if we are exchanging it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
