What's great about it: lots of options
What's not so great: loses wi-fi setup and software hiccups
i bought this unit to replace the crummy unit that came with my lg 3d tv. this unit has all the options and works realy well when it works. It will on ocassion drop your wi-fi signal, lose settings and just plain freeze. So why 4stars. Because if you can put up with the flaws it does a lot. You can store photos,music and video on the hardrive. you can access netfix, amazon prime, youtube, padora and others. video and audio playback is great. And the price of 250.00 was a deal.

What's great about it: Nice unit, great features, beautiful playback of blu-ray discs.
What's not so great: attached power cord, needed to be serviced 3 weeks after purchase, thank god for the 30 day return/exchange policy!
I have the older model, BD590 and love that player. Bought a new TV and wanted the option to have 3D. I moved the 590 to the bedroom and purchased the BD690. It was ok for a few weeks and then yesterday started to become very noisy and while watching netflix the front display would say PAUSE. Called LG and they said to to a power cycle. This player does not have the removable power cord like the 590 does so it was tough to move my stuff to get to the cord. About 30 mins or so later it did it again and while booting the player up it was very noisy. Since this model is being discontinued I exchanged it for the new 2012 Panasonic BMP BDT220P. So far, so good.

What's great about it: fast start up, great picture
What's not so great: front finnish panel
It has played everything I have thrown at it. Easy to set up the wifi and link to my pc. The menues took a little getting use to but over good. I have played streamming movies as well as dvd and blurays. over all I would recommend this player. the only thing i didn't love about the unit is the front finnish panel. the whole front opens when you load a disc. But it wasn't that big of a deal to me

The picture quality is great. However I have only had it for 4 months and it has already been in the shop twice. First time because the motor went out. Second time because the tray will only open every 3rd to 5th time. The shop says they can't find the error and it's fine but the Geek Squad says they see the problem and want to send it back to the same shop that can't find the error for a third time. Also Best Buys extended warranty isn't as good as they say. I was told that if it breaks they will replace the player. I wasn't told that a part has to be replaced 3 times for that part of the warranty to take effect. So the times it goes into the shop but nothing is replaced don't count. I have a feeling this player is going to spend more time in the shop than in my home.

What's great about it: Produces a terrific HD picture + large internal HD
What's not so great: Remote complexity and slow Blu-ray menu navigation
This LG Blu-ray player produces an excellent picture. Built-in hard drive offers additional versatility when dealing with large amounts of content from the Internet. Used primarily to play Blu-ray movies, so a bit overkill on the feature set.
Blu-ray navigation seems slow, though this may be a characteristic of the Blu-ray medium, rather than the player itself. The remote seems unnecessarily complex and complicated to use (however, this is true with any recent remote I've seen).

This player provide a great picture along with good connection, the 250 GB hard drive is a plus and a nice extra.
