What's great about it: It is cheap, prints ok.
What's not so great: Scan keeps failing, even after support calls
In addition to document printing I require consistent scanning to maintain all of my financial & other documents electronically. The continued failure of the scan option, even after several uninstall/reinstalls, and working through on-line HP support, failed to resolve the continual problems & failures with scanning. I finally called HP support who were helpful, but their "fix" only lasted for 1 scan, and then the failure kicked in again, I think that there is a lot of work yet to be done to make this all-in-one compatible with a Mac (OS Lion). I finally decided to return the printer & exchange it for another manufacturer's all-in-one. Since it is still in warranty, the whole return process was easy.

What's great about it: It's very stingey on the ink usage and prints with extreme clarity with no bleed over of colors.
What's not so great: nothing
A terrific all around printer that also scans and copies. WiFi was easy to set up. This printer uses much less ink than any of my other printers and it is priced to sell.

What's great about it: Small, decent print quality for documents, fast once it queues up and starts to print
What's not so great: Slow to get started printing when connected via wireless, scanning from the device is a bit cumbersome
I haven't purchased an HP in years, mostly because of my lack of appreciation for their software and how it used to overtake your system. Was a bit cumbersome to setup on wireless network that I have secured and running DD-WRT on my router. Once connected no issues but the intial setup was a bit time consuming.
Software is a bit better on this one but the delays to print can be unbearable sometimes, especially if you are in a rush to print fast. Tried scanning multiple documents today and if a scan is cancelled during the process you better plan a few minutes for it to catch up or just kill it via task manager and reboot.
Not sure I will purchase an HP again but could be just because this was the base model and you get what you pay for. Good quality printing documents, scanning is a bit cumbersome, and we haven't tried printing phots yet to see that print quality.

What's great about it: can't say yet...
What's not so great: Setup was painful.
Called BB and was told to call the manufacturer. Spent over an hour correcting alignment problem with Tech support. Had to reload print cartridges 3x and print 3 alignment pages before it magically resolved itself.
Thankfully the Tech was able to get things corrected, but I spent almost 3 hours I didn't have planned for this project!
After all that it does seem like very high quality printing and scanning so far for the money. We'll see how much I spend on ink cartridges.

What's not so great: jams mess w/ software, too, somehow
EVERY time I try to print an envelope with ANY of my three different HP printers, either the paper jams horribly (TRY to fish an envelope out of an HP Photosmart C4780 !) or, worse, it does something requiring me to go into the control panel of the computer, disable the print spooler, then re-enable it. Sometimes I must uninstall then reinstall the printer, just to get it to print documents again. If envelopes aren't an important part of you printing needs, perhaps this problem won't matter. Just don't even TRY to go there, unless you want to waste an hour of your life figuring how to get it to respond again!!! PS, this happens whether trying to print from my Dell, my wife's Toshiba or my son's MACpro, so it's not the computers!

What's great about it: Low price, cheap ink
What's not so great: Sounds horrible and no support
Bought it just to be able to print wireless with an Asus Win7 64bit laptop and a Netgear N600 Wireless WNDR3400. The printer would connect via USB and print just fine. it would connect itself to my network just fine but using the software provided and downloading the latest from HP, I could never get the computer to find it on the network. Called HP Support and someone picked right up. They took over my computer remotely and clicked a few things here and there. They told me that they could certainly resolve the issue for $99. I hung up. I exchange it for the PhotoSmart 5510 (next level up) and had the exact same experience. I'm done with HP. Kudos to Best Buy for understanding when I took them both back.

What's great about it: excellent photos, can print from any location in the home
What's not so great: forget to change what tray to use <smile>
For the price, an excellent printer. I use it from the dining room where I have my laptop. Printing lots of photos of my new greatgranddaughter. Also can quickly print documents I've created from my word processing or email or online purchases. I forget sometimes to change what tray to use when printing documents. Ever seen a document printed on 5X7 photo paper <smile>.

What's great about it: one pc can print from it (the one farther from routher)
What's not so great: the other pc doesn't even recognize driver and poor support from HP
I bought this to have a wireless printer for my two desktops at home, which all sit in the same room. The main pc, which is hooked to the router, and sits four inches from this printer--for some reason despite all the HP troubleshooting help still hasn't gotten it going. Oh, the other pc prints just fine, flawlessly. But despite installing/uninstialling/reinstalling the driver, downloads from HP, the printer says it is connected, but PC #1 says it's not. PC #2 works flawlessly. My low rankings are because when I first set it up a month ago it worked fine in 30 minutes. The first time I rebooted after installing it the printer has not worked since on pc 1. Hp support doesn't answer their phones.

What's great about it: everything
What's not so great: nothing
Bought this printer at the urging of my husband, due to an injury to my knee. Being a seller on the internet, I was always having to take my laptop into a different room and hook it up to my old printer in order to print out sales and postage. So much nicer to be able to sit in the living room, do all the printing necessary printing I need to do and leave my computer set. BEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD. (well almost)

What's great about it: Everything!
What's not so great: Ink consumption
I haven't had this product more than a few weeks but in a home (where I have a home office) with 3 printers, this is the one of choice. It was easy to set up, it is easy to use, lightweight, and occupies little space. I have used all its features and everyone works very well. It would be really great if the ink cartridge held more ink but that's about the only hitch I've had so far.

What's great about it: Easy to set up, good price, compact
I have to admit after reading some of the reviews on here that I was a bit apprehensive about purchasing this product. However I realize that there are always going to some problems with any product, so I took the chance, especially since it had an overall decent rating. And boy am I glad I did! It has been a real champ! I did experience a few stutter steps in setting up the wireless printing function, however I am fairly adept at troubleshooting most computer issues. And to be honest I usually expect them with any new product! The remaining set-up was a breeze! And the range of the wireless printing is phenomenal! I can print from the back bedroom all the way to the front of the house, at least 60 feet.
Not to mention that HP is the only printer that actually comes with both a color and black ink cartridge as opposed to having to buy both right off the bat!
Plus it is compact, so if you have space issues in your "office" area like I do, this is a great choice. And the paper feeder in the back lifts up, so you can put it against the wall, again saving space!
Overall for the money, this is a deal that is going to be hard to beat!

What's great about it: Nothing...
What's not so great: Has Major Wireless Connection Issues
But this model is not alone! We have had many problems with many different HP models using them wirelessly. They are great printers if you need to connect them through a computer or LAN wire to your network but HP has serious issues with their Wi-Fi connections. They know this and keep selling them... It is time to fix the problem or pull the printers. They should not be allowed to continue offering them for Wi-Fi connection if they can't retain the connection and have to be un-plugged and re-plugged into AC power every day to maintain Wi-Fi connection... Perhaps Meg can turn this failing company around, we'll see...
