What's great about it: nothing
What's not so great: everything
I bought one of these a couple of years ago. Anyone who wants to make really good homemade ice cream knows a hand crank is the way to go, because the electric ones shut off just when you should be cranking furiously. I had owned many such a one. I was very excited when I saw this, and bought it. #1. The hand crank does not work. There is slippage in the gears, so you cannot crank it. #2. The electric motor stops when the ice cream is still soupy. Then, it stopped altogether. I took it apart, and found a screw had come off. fixed it, but so what?! I have tried several times to get in touch with the company. Through their website, and the MAIL! To no AVAIL! DO NOT BUY THIS!!!!!

What's not so great: motor and directions
Sturdy bucket but only the hand crank works. Who wants to crank for 45 minutes. Motor will not turn like crank and does not churn. Maybe I will return and try another unit. Also directions suck on this one. It is very confusing.
