What's great about it: The price for a corded wall phone, nice feel to the buttons
What's not so great: Display and setup
Our old kitchen wall phone finally stopped working. I was looking for a replacement and figured I'd try this one. We have cordless phones but they don't work when the power goes out. This past fall we were out of power for over a week. But our good old fashion kitchen phone still worked. Even cell towers were down due to the heavy snow or the battery backups gave up so many cell phones didn't work. Finding a good corded wall phone proved to be difficult. First, this phone is priced right. The buttons are a nice size and dialing is easy. The sound quality is excellent on both ends. However, (like the other review said) the display, caller ID, is not good. You can see it but it is nothing like what is shown on the box. You need to look directly at it and with a little luck you can read it. Most interestingly, the "setup" directions were wrong. What it tells you to do is not possible. I actually packed the phone up to send it back but it really got to me that I could not figure it out. I tried again, this time not reading the instructions and got it going. I have no idea about the durability of this phone but at the price if I get a year or two out of it, I'd just replace it. I'd recommend it to a friend with the understanding that at this price, don't expect too much. The display is not very good and be prepared to replace it, if and when it stops working. I looked at a number of higher priced wall phones but the reviews were not any better.

I returned the phone because the caller ID display was too small to be readily readable. Had to spring for Panasonic - KX-TG7531B Cordless.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
