What's great about it: Sound quality, HDMI inputs, easy setup
What's not so great: Bulky
I purchased this to replace my defunct Onkyo HT-9100THX receiver and was told that the setup was a little complicated. On the contrary, and perhaps because of my familiarity with the Onkyo and Audessy systems, I found it quite easy to set up and get going. Perhaps the hardest part was determining which HDMI inputs to rename via the OSD. While the OSD itself is helpful, it lacks detailed information in some places, so it can appear to be daunting. I could not be happier. The sound quality is amazing, the response time on the HDMI inputs is stellar, and the total setup time took maybe 15 minutes from the time I unpacked the box.

I have long been a Pioneer Elite Fan boy but as of late haven't been happy with the quality control or features for the price tag. I decided to give Marantz a shot. This was going to replace a Pioneer ELITE SC-37 which died off after a year and a half at the price tag of 1699, well all i can say is i love this amp, the airplay features and the fact Rhapsody is built in. Its running a Klipsch Rf-82 6.1 system. Absolutely sounds awesome more true power than the ELITE and much cleaner with less THD. Buy this amp you wont regret it.
This product has... Plenty of power for all my needs, Interfaces well with TV, Good multi-zone capability

Marantz SR6006 Review
I have had the Marantz SR6006 for about two Months, here are my impressions.
Setup:
I first connected to my Network and made an HDMI Connection to my HDTV.
I then connected the L & R preamp out to my existing 200 Watt per channel stereo Adcom Amp.
(I only have L & R speakers at this time. They are 2 - 4 Ohm speakers and will not work well with the amps in the Marantz.)
I connected my FM antenna and my turntable.
(I am using a Sumiko Blue Point moving coil cartridge.)
Set up was very easy and took only a few minutes. I did not immediately run Audissey setup. When I did there was a noticeable improvement in Sound Quality.
When first playing a record and comparing the level with an FM station, it was lower. I used the input level adjust to boost the phono input. There was not enough boost available to make the Phono and FM Input levels equal. (Not surprising since I am using a moving coil cartridge.) I will lower the FM and other Input levels to secure a match.
Internet Radio is an easy to use Big Plus on the Marantz. I was able to easily find the European stations carrying the live broadcasts of the Bayreuth Wagner Festival the day after my purchase.
I make use of Pre-Amp outputs to connect my Stereo Amp and the 7.1 inputs for an older SACD player. These work very well, but the ability to switch between two sets of Left-Right Speakers will not work because this switches between two sets of Speaker outputs and my main speakers are connected to an external Amp.
I have my Stax Ear speakers control unit connected to the Left and Right Channel amps in the SR6006. When I want to listen via headphones I turn off the external amp and turn on the Stax. When I do this I need to put the SR6006 in Pure Direct so that the Audessy corrections are not applied. The Sound Quality using the SR6006 Amps and the Stax is as good as when I was driving the Stax with the Adcom amp.
There is a set of L-R Analog outputs that I have connected to a computer so that I can create digital files from my extensive LP collection. These work well for this as well as recording radio broadcasts.
HD radio is a big improvement over standard FM. The only problem that I had was creating Presets. The Manual's instructions are a bit turgid.
(The only printed manual that comes with the Marantz is a short initial setup manual. The full User Manual is on a CD in PDF format. This means either printing out the manual or having a computer near at hand for easy reference. I should reduce my rating by one-half star for the lack of a printed manual.)
There are some rather severe limitations on Zones 2 and 3. Essentially, they only work with Analog inputs. (Another one-half star reduction in my rating should be applied.
The ability to control the SR6006 with a web browser or via a Local Area Network and a Control Program such as iRule, Control4, et al is a huge PLUS. This wipes out the two one-half star reductions above.
No Buyer Remorse here, I am very pleased with this purchase!
